Very good product
Works great, still had to get rid of my machine because it still won't work. I kept the motor though.

Great replacement motor for Elna Lock L2 serger using the YM-43 motor!
If you are having an issue with your Elna Lock serger not operating at speed, the problem may very well be the motor and not your foot pedal. I was able to confirm this on our machine by testing the motor outside of the machine. I noticed a heavy carbon buildup on the case and the motor was sparking internally as well. I chose this motor as the rotation, case size, and electrical specifications were nearly identical to the original Japanese made YM-43 motor. To install, simply remove the bracket and ALL accompanying fasteners. This will ensure that the mounting studs are at the correct spacing when installing into your machine. Next, connect the wiring on the motor in the same fashion as prior. Reassemble the plastics on your machine and retest the machine using your original foot pedal. Unfortunately, the foot pedal that comes with this kit does not provide a smooth transition from low speed to higher speeds. Happy sewing!

easy fix for foot pedal sensitivity
Good motor and foot pedal at a good price, and works perfectly on my fixed up Singer 99. Like other reviewers, I initially had problems with the foot pedal going from 0 to 100 with very little ability go slowly. I found a very easy fix for this problem on YouTube. A video titled "Generic Sewing Machine Pedal Speed Adjustment" by the user "Tarot Oculus" shows how to pop off the bottom of the pedal and slightly adjust the position of the white box with the connection mechanism. You just loosen the two screws on the box, slide it toward the front of the pedal a little bit, then tighten the screws again. Now it's much easier to sew fast or slow with the pedal, just like my other machines.

Bolts directly to a Singer 99
Connected up very easily. I did NOT connect the light on the machine because I have overhead lights on my bench. Connecting the light would have taken a bit of work. But, the motor and belt connect right up and work great.

Good fit for my Singer
It could not fit to my Singer with the pad it was shipped, but it worked well with the existing (old pad).

No color choice, very bad low speed control
The item description shows a black motor. I was unhappily surprised to receive a white one, which looks terrible when installed on an antique black Singer. Since there is no way to specify what color you want I guess it's luck of the draw. As other reviewers have said, the pedal controls for these motors are essentially full speed or nothing, with very little low-speed control. I recommend spending a little more to get something a lot better.

good motor + bad speed control
Initially unit did not work.... The ac plug was bad internally [ open circuit when pluged in] after replacing plug only had full on / off , had to adjust the carbon rod pressure setup , don't plan on using this for any reliable speed control, get a cheap triac speed control. For the price I figured there might be some issues....The motor has approx 1/16 inch[end to end] shaft slop, which should not be an issue when using the supplied belt update... Just realized the sent .5A motor ~ 50 to 60 watts , and runs 17000 to 19000 rpm, but I'll keep it for a DIY oscillating sander....
