Let me preface this. I'm reviewing the ground, full-caff version. I don't drink decaf and I drink my coffee black. With that out of the way I have to say this coffee delivers. It has all the subtle characteristics one expects from a quality Kona coffee. It's not over-roasted, which is the best way to ruin the delicate flavor of Kona. It's very mild with low acidity, very smooth with the slightest chocolate notes. It is not the absolute best Kona I've ever had, but it's very good for the price and an excellent value. I will buy it again.

As a fan of Hawaiian coffee, I was specifically looking for something 100% pure rather than a 10% blend. From the moment I opened the bag of Hualalai Estate 100% Pure Kona Ground Coffee, the rich, strong aroma was unmistakable. The medium-dark roast is well-balanced—dark enough to be bold, but not so dark that it becomes oily or burnt. The coffee is incredibly smooth, with almost no acidity. Unlike some estates that roast different bean sizes together, Hualalai selects uniform beans, which results in a very consistent flavor in every cup. As a 100% Kona product, it is a luxury item and priced accordingly. It's more of a special treat or a gift than a daily "workhorse" coffee for some. If you prefer a very light, bright, or acidic coffee, this medium-dark roast might feel a bit too "dense" for your palate. If you want an authentic taste of the Big Island, this is it. It works beautifully in a French Press or Pour-Over to really let those natural oils and complex flavors shine. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates a full-bodied, smooth cup of coffee without the bitter aftertaste.

During a recent visit to Kauai, even though they grow local coffee there, we sought out authentic 100% Kona as we prefer it... and this was one of the best. So good we ordered some after returning home so our mornings in MI would still smell and taste like we were waking up in HI. Don't be fooled by all the "Kona Blend" coffees sold on the mainland, these beans & grounds are the real deal! A bit pricey, but comparable to what we paid in the islands... so with free Prime shipping it was a wash, and well worth the quality & flavor. Just wish they sold it in larger quantities, maybe with a small volume discount.

Kona? Doubtful somewhat bitter. Kona is not. Expensive if not Kona.

Fell in love with this coffee on my recent trip to Kona, missed it once I got back home, so I decided to order some online, was glad to see Amazon had it but it was double the price than what I paid back in Hawaii at the retail store. If you want great coffee with amazing flavor, and have it shipped local it’s worth the “extra” money. Now just to get a bigger bag, maybe it will last longer lol
