Otis Technology Ripcord One Pass Bore Cleaner (.22/.223/5.56)

It does a really good job at cleaning all the junk in the barrel of my AK-74, tried it on my dad's AR-15 and same thing. It's got no bronze brush bristles on it but has on either end a threaded brass bit to screw a bronze brush onto. The value is ok, there are some cheaper options, but I went with this one since all the brushes I have are the same thread as the ends for this one and because my dad ruined my one and only .22 cal brush after he used it to clean out a connector for a trailer light.

I like to keep my rifle clear and clean at all times - I keep my ripcord with me in my bag - before I put my file back in the bag I use the rip cord several times while the barrel and muzzle are stil hot to the touch. It's easier to clear and clean residue and carbon when the rifle is hot. I just run it through from the chamber to the muzzle 3 or 4 times and it's clear. Mark C

Works well with .22 caliber rifle that cannot be cleaned from the receiver with a cleaning rod.

It doesn't replace a full bore cleaning any more than a boresnake does, but for a quick removal of the crud buildup in your bore, these are a great product, and built tough like pretty much everything I have from Otis. With a solvent on the front end and a light lube on the rear, a couple passes with these and you're clean enough to keep shooting or store for a couple days before another range trip. They won't remove metallic buildup (copper/lead) but they do remove powder/carbon fouling nicely. The corkscrew pattern just drags out the crud, and the somewhat loose cloth over it ensures a tight seal much like using an Otis cable or a rod & jag. As a side note, it won't clean bottleneck chambers. I didn't expect it to, but I see a lot of people using boresnakes and similar as complete barrel cleaning solutions, which simply doesn't work (long term) for a bottleneck cartridge. You'll have to swab out the chamber manually with these or any drag-through product. I'll be ordering these in all the bore sizes I routinely use, I just leave them hanging on pegs at my workbench.

I like these. I give them as gifts as well. After shooting at the range I give my barrel a wipe down with a Ripcord. Because the wipe the inside of the barrel, they get dirty and probably should be cleaned once in a while. I hand wash mine when it starts to look grimy I've lost count of the number of times I've use them and they still work and look good. Yes, I'm also a picky bastard when it comes to my guns so when I get home they get stripped, cleaned, light oil wipedown, reassemble and checked. This is not the only cleaning I use.

Fantastic item. 100% every firearm owner needs these for every firearm they own. I clean my guns while they are still hot leaving the barrel nice and clean as a head home before I dig in to do deeper cleaning on the rest of my firearm. I own this for every caliber I own and I will by duplicates (though I have used mine for years and have 0 fraying). If you're actually taking the time to read the reviews your interested, I can explain to you as simply as possible as one firearm owner to another why you should use this: it cleaned very well leaving no residue behind without needing cleaning agents, it has brass leads that are threaded if you needed to pull a brush through, and it is built out of materials that will not fall apart on you like walmart boresnakes.

I’ve went through a few bore cleaning kits finding much difficulty using. Cleaning rods are mess bending , breaking etc all bad making cleaning barrel a miserable worrisome experience. After searching long & hard , I finally found winner with Otis Ripcord. For quick clean & deep clean , it’s the perfect all purpose tool thanks too Ripcords threaded ends allowing use of deep clean attachments seen in picture. Ripcord pulls through barrel easily with or without attachment connected no more worry about scratching barrel. Buy those attachments , cotton patchs , breakfree CLP or hopps bore cleaner & your good to go. Deep clean will be had with ease!

Makes it perfect to keep in range bags or at home cleaning kit bags. Very durable can use after you are done firing your weapon n just slide it through and it’s completely cleaned. Easy n quick

Works great for quick easy cleaning of my rim fires at the range.

I switched over to these from the traditional drop through/pull bore cleaning snakes. Why? These can be threaded through the barrel much faster, and without having to orient the rifle pointing down. This means I can quickly run this through my rifle between shots without even having to take it off the bench. The design also cleans much more effectively than your traditional bore snake tool.

appears to clean gun bores nicely but starts to fray after a few uses, still if i can get a dozen or so uses out each one thats good enough for me
