I bought the Spring Action Door Closer thinking it would give my door a gentle, elegant whoosh as it shut. What I got instead was a hyper-enthusiastic bouncer with no concept of personal space. The first time I installed it, I was impressed. My door closed all by itself! No more awkward pushing with an elbow full of groceries. But then it started getting... confident. You'd think this door closer had a grudge against the wall by the way it SLAMS shut like it’s auditioning for a soap opera finale. My neighbors probably think I’m running an underground WWE match in my hallway. On the bright side, my cardio has improved significantly. Every trip to the door is now a race against time to squeeze through without getting caught in a spring-loaded ambush. I call it "The Indiana Jones Experience." (Spoiler: I am not Indiana Jones.) Despite all this, I can’t say I dislike it. There's a certain charm in its overzealousness, and it’s now part of my home’s unique ambiance: "Welcome to my place, where the doors are as dramatic as I am." Would I recommend it? Absolutely! Just make sure your reflexes are sharp and your hinges are well-oiled. And maybe invest in earplugs. This door closer means business.

The bracket with the hook that mounts above the door protrudes too far out to allow the door closer to fully engage and it hits the frame of the door closer without allowing the door to close fully

This seems ill written as product states “with Adjustable Wide Hook 7/8 to 1 5/8 Inch Offset”. So how does one adjust a pre bent hook to have an offset from 7/8 to 1 5/8 inch. What is adjustable to allow said 7/8 to 1 5/8 offset? Slots won’t allow that offset.
