Review: Decent Workbook - This is one of two review supports I purchased recently for my daughter. Math is the boogey monster under her bed, so to speak, I think she may even like spiders more then math, and those she's only find of one variety- the dead kind. And I noticed at the beginning of the year that she could use some additional supports and reviews for the previous year's math concepts. My rating of this is based on the product being marketed as a workbook, which is what it is most appropriate for. If you are looking for a comprehensive curriculum, meaning includes text book level explanations, I would recommend actually ordering from Singapore Math directly. They also have teaching manuals that explain the concepts to you and how to teach them to your kiddo. I used those when I was home schooling our daughter during her third grade year. This is a workbook produced by a separate company only with a brief review of the concepts that is based on the manner of instruction developed by Singapore Math, Inc. As such, I did look this over. There is a bit of an overview of some of the methods Singapore math uses. I know that when I was in elementary school back in the '80's, things were taught a bit differently then they are now, and I know for many of the common core states, they have adopted methods and standards that draw on Singapore Math's methodology, so...as tempting as it is to teach your kiddo the way you were taught growing up, they will be tested on knowing how to do it this way, so, I think it is helpful they do have an overview. However, since it is just an overview, as this is only intended to be a support workbook, you may find yourself combing you tube videos for expanded explanations if you don't already have text book resources that go over this for you or your kiddo. There is also an example of how to solve the problems being done at the beginning of each of the unit sections. Now, I know my girl, and I know she's going to find the lack of illustrations in this to be boring as heck and would say it borders on the dreadfully dull. However, I think the worksheets are put together well, and I love that there is enough space given to do the work on the page without requiring a separate scrap page. And, since she and math aren't so very fond of each other, probably the only thing she likes about any math book is cute illustrations, and I'm rather of the opinion that this is not the most important feature of a workbook by the time you get to be her age. Especially since if they're too cute they're super distracting, so I am not taking off for the lack of happy inducing illustrations. So since the necessary elements of 4th grade math have worksheets (over 200 pages worth), there is an answer section at the end, there is a brief overview in the beginning, examples at the beginning of the units, adequate space for completing the problems...I am saying that this is a 5 star workbook. I don't think this should be used as a stand alone homeschool curriculum, but I do think this could be a good support for that or a good practice book or review book for a kiddo who's already been through the instruction and just needs a bit of touching up on their skills. Review: Excellent workbook to support remote learning - I bought this workbook to support remote learning: the school books do not have the solutions and also lack explanations and method descriptions. Homework is not being marked, which means mistakes and areas of low understanding are not being picked up in school. These books are great. Straightforward layout, lots of exercises and method+solutions for homeschooling parents. I select a few of the examples from each page, rather than making the kids do all of them. They feel like they're flying through and it helps me see where they need more time and practice.

Great for home-study to supplement virtual school
Pre-covid, when my daughter attended school physically, I envisioned that school would do about 70% formal instruction and I'd fill in areas 30%. Now that school is virtual, its like I'm doing 80% and the edu system is doing 20%. The Singapore workbooks are great in helping out for Math. We've already finished Singapore 2A/B, and are working through 3A/B with 4A/B on the shelf. The way we work them is by working on 3A and 3B simultaneously because they cover different math concepts. We also work with Kumon, Investigations, and on-line K-5 Learning to round things out. The Singapore series is one of many approaches that I'm exposing my child to which will help her with her math skills.

Using for concept review
My daughter flies through these. We are using to check for weak areas and avoid brain drain. One unit per day. (Nothing strenuous) I enjoy not having to work most problems out anymore since there is an answer key. If her answer doesnโt match the key, I do work the problem out myself, as there are a couple of errors in the key. I would still buy again as it is a major time saver and the wrong answers in the back never confuse or effect my childโs confidence since sheโs not allowed to look at it.

Based on Singapore math (they say in pre)
It is best workbook, I have found in US so far. I wish I had it last year. I would actually reccomend it for 3rd grade, cause program here is so slowed down. Unless your child is strugling with math. I like that is has working format, and not so many pictures, like in American worksheets. Besides, most importantly, it is the way more logical (then the way they teach, at least in CA). This is the reason I ordered it, and in most parts it is meeting expectations.

Love these books!
I homeschool and use just this for math for the entire year. We get through it much less than 1 school year but it's plenty for our needs. Very user friendly, kid friendly, and it progresses on a way that makes sense. It works really well for us and I recommend it to other homeschool families.

it's okay but need more teachable sessions
I have heard about Singapore Math. My kids go to Kumon for reading and math. Reading is great there but math is more like memorizing. When I ask them a subtraction and adding question, they still use their fingers to count it and figure out that way. I want them to not memorize but really understand the material and I think this does it. Although it's a little hard to teach them. They don't really give that many problems to try it out for them so it's hard for us parents as well.

good math book for advancing math skills
This is one of the a few Singapore math books I bought. gave this book to friend's kid as well. She found it helped a lot for her kid to learn math in more depth than what's been taught in school. This is a good training for kids who wants to be advance in Math and participate in Math contests or competitions!

My kid loves working on the math problems from the book!
The book is well designed and slowly and steadily the complexity increases. It works perfectly well for my grade 3 boy (Ontario) and he shows great interest now in solving the book. Highly recommend
