Fatal Mistake: A Novel (White Knights Book 1899)

This is a great suspense that you don't want to start unless you have some time to spend reading. It grabbed me from the first page and could be a story out of today's headlines. Tara Parrish goes to her Aunt June's pump house when there is a problem with the pump only to find bomb making materials. She soon decides that the only one that could be using the building is her childhood friend, Oren Keeler, who is living on her aunt's farm. She and Oren are not as close as they used to be but she can't understand why he would have the material there especially upon investigating further, it appears from papers there to be the work of the Lone Wolf, who is killing young women using necklace bombs. Before he comes back and discovers her, she dials the FBI Bomb Hotline and soon is talking to Special Agent Cal Riggins. He quickly lines up a helicopter to get to her. Cal is on the task force trying to locate and arrest the Lone Wolf. He is able to calm Tara down some, enough to get her to find something to hit Oren with while she can try to escape. She is able to stun Oren long enough to run but by the time that Cal arrives, Oren has shot Tara and run away when he sees the helicopter. Later while Tara is in the hospital guarded by an agent, Oren appears outside of her room and threatens her. Not understanding how he can reach her, Tara takes off running as soon as she can leave the hospital. Cal is determined to find the Lone Wolf but needs Tara's help. Unfortunately, no one knows where she is. Eventually, his team locates her and with her help, the team searches for Oren. He seems to be one step behind them or ahead of them but still evades them continuing his bombing spree. This is an edge of the seat, nail biter. Ms. Sleeman has a good writing style and does a great job with plot and character development, and scenery description. Both Tara and Cal need to work on their relationship to God and as things heat up, both lean more on their faith. I highly recommend this book for a suspenseful read with some romance and lots of adventure thrown in. Thanks to NetGalley and Faith Works for the copy to read and review. I did buy the book from Amazon before I heard from them because I was anxious to read it.

Fatal Mistake is mind-bending thriller that takes the reader on a wild ride. The villain is known but the method to his madness is elusive. As the White Knights race to the rescue, finding victims before it’s too late, the madman changes things so the hunted becomes the hunter. It’s a wonderful story packed with suspense, romance and faith.

I received a copy of this book. Great Story and Wonderful Characters. Full of action and plot twists. looking forward to reading more books by this author.

As usual, Susan has wrapped our hearts and minds with her characters and storytelling. Couldn’t put this book down! Perfection!

I always get more excited about a new series from a favorite author, and this introduction to the White Knights was a real page turner! I love the amount of research that the author puts into the criminal and investigative sides of her stories to make everything accurate. I felt like I was right in the middle of the action! She does such a great job of explaining the technical parts, too, in a way that's informative without bogging down the story. Plot: When she accidentally stumbles on bomb making supplies hidden in her aunt's shed, Tara Parrish knows she's in trouble. Her call to the FBI connects her to Agent Cal Riggins, who listens helplessly as the Lone Wolf bomber returns. Tara runs for her life and narrowly escapes, but now that she knows the identity of one of the FBI's most wanted fugitives, she's not out of danger until he's caught. Not trusting anyone to keep her safe, Tara sets off on her own. Cal is determined to keep Tara safe, but first, he has to find her. Characters: I loved Tara's spunk! She's not the heroine you'd expect from a series that's centered around a team of 'Knights'. I love how she doesn't wait to see what happens, but takes action to protect herself. Cal's a little bit awkward, in an endearing sort of way. A suit in the woods may not be the best choice, but he's got a good heart. I loved learning about what made him the way he is. Content: This is a clean and inspirational romance. There's a little bit of violence, which is not detailed and given the subject of the book, understandable. I really enjoyed how the author wove faith into the story without making it preachy. This is a good book for all type of readers. Recommendation: I'd highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys well-written suspense with a light romance. It's the first book of the series and ends with everything resolved, so it can stand alone. However, I can't wait to learn more about the White Knights. They have such an interesting dynamic and I look forward to spending more time with them all. Rating: 4.5/5 stars

I was hooked into this story by reading the first few pages! Susan is a great writer and I really enjoy her stories!

The way Susan Sleeman uses little clues throughout the book to point you right to the conclusion without giving it away is really amazing. The things that held them back were really the same things that helped them resolve their issues. Learning to lean on the Lord instead of our own strengths is to me the focus of the book. Learning that we are fallible humans and need to trust a forgiving and loving God whose way is perfect... How the Knights and other characters bring the focus to that is very well done 👏

I loved this story from the first chapter. Suspense started and hardly ever backed off. The characters were intense and realistic and kept my interest right through the last page!
