My maltese dogs absolutely love these and beg for them. This last bag however they are not happy with and aren't finishing them. Dry?

I don't know how often you give one to him but maybe wait a few days and the interest may come back. The product information states that the overall product (entire bag) is 1.13 oz. Is this accurate? Or is that the weight of one stick?

Will these be small enough for a five pound Maltese?

Yes if you cut them into smaller pieces. I have four small dogs 10 to 15 pounds and these treats are 6 inches. I use a PVC ratchet pipe cutter and I cut them into 1 to 2 inches and they like that so it’s easier for them to chew.

My dog get very thirsty when he chews on this. Is there salt/sodium added to it and if yes how much?

My dogs haven't had this problem, but they are small and only eat a fraction of a stick, not the whole thing. The package doesn't list any sodium content, but does say that these contain no additives or preservatives, and salt is a preservative. You can contact the company for more information, and ask your vet about the excessive drinking.
