with lead-acid batteries, the factory said the range on my motorized chair was 18 miles. i never went that far with them, but the farther i went, the more lights that indicate remaining charge would go out. The original batteries lasted two years. I had been reading how LiFePo (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries may last for twenty years or more with off-grid solar power applications, drained and recharged every day, so I tried them. With a top speed of about 3 mph, it's not easy to get 18 miles in one day between recharge. It did happen once when I forgot to charge them overnight, about 22 miles over two days. Two of the six lights indicating charge level went dark, but still plenty of power. What does concern me is the reputation Lithium batteries are getting. I understand it's rare, but the batteries malfunction and put out poisonous-explosive gasses, or catch fire. Mine stays in an open carport. A battery fire would destroy the unit. But inside a house, the gasses/fire would spell disaster. For anyone using a power chair inside the house, I would sugget keeping lead-acid.
