“Use 5/8 or larger garden hose.” How can it fit a 5/8 and then fit a 3/4 inch or a 1 inch? Doesn’t make sense.

That is referring to the inside diameter of the hose. They make hoses at 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", etc. 5/8" is a common size and it still has 3/4" garden hose thread ends.

Is this light weight?

It is pretty light in weight, but very sturdy. I bought my first one at a fair, and needed another one for a second hose. Best nozzle I've ever had!

Will it handle hot water?

Not sure. Only used with cold water

does it hold up under high water pressure?

I have ran it with about 60lbs. Not sure how high pressure you are running. Not sure what you expect for $20
