Love!
Love this wonderful book, full of beautiful older women!

A lot of us have waited a long time for a book like this.
Finally, a book that celebrates the poise and vivacity of women who have spent decades refining their personal style! This is one of the better `book of the blog' types that I've received, but you certainly don't need to be familiar with the Advanced Style blog to enjoy the book. The women in this book look amazing, and I don't mean `for their age', I mean just totally amazing in general. I wouldn't be surprised if this turned out to be the freshest and most inspiring fashion book of 2012.This book is 98% photos, page after page of lovely women wearing the most beautifully put together outfits. There's a range of looks from quintessential elegance to total bohemian. What's striking is how much of the wearer's personality shines through. Usually when I look at street snaps, I'm focused on the clothes and haven't got much interest in the wearer. But the women in this book seem like they'd be good for conversation over a cup of tea. I wish I knew more about them, what their homes look like or what paths their lives took that made them get through the years and looking more vibrant and beautiful than woman half their age.The book itself is somewhat small for a photo book but thick and printed on good heavy paper with a nice sheen. The headings are set in a typeface that can be hard to read, but those with imperfect sight will be pleased to see that most type has been set quite large for easy reading. Overall it's an easy book to look through.Personally, I've never been a very conservative dresser. When I was younger, people would tell me, `wear that while you can,' meaning that one day I'd be working in a cubicle somewhere in a navy suit with pantyhose and 2" pumps. Now in my 30s I find myself looking for style inspiration from women my age or older who aren't content to spend the rest of their lives shopping at LL Bean. Am I supposed to give up on personal style now that I'm all grown up? I didn't think so, but having this book of concrete examples to the contrary is certainly an inspiration.Unlike most fashion books, this one will make you feel good about getting older. This book would make a wonderful gift for anyone interested in fashion, young or old.

The book is in amazing shape. some marks, but at 65 years old, so do i.
The book came in a padded package. Well preserved considering how old it is. there were a few marks in it, no big deal. Clean, Well taken care of. Above my expectations for what i was paying for. Thank you for the quick delivery.I am hoping this dealer will stay in touch and let me know when more books of this quality come along. For those of us in our 60's and soon moving into those later years, we need serious advice when we continue to teach at University. This book clearly outlines some good ideas for those of us that are at a loss of what to wear.

Advanced Style, for all Ages
So many of the reviews written about Advanced Style is about how inspiring it is for women over the age of 50, but I disagree. The popular blog, and now a newly published hard cover book, is inspiring for people of ALL AGES. I'm in my 40's and you can not underestimate the impact seeing all sorts of women "of a certain age" being CELEBRATED. In a society that sweeps a woman past 30 to the sidelines as being sartorially irrelevant, it is refreshing AND revolutionary to look at these images of these glorious women in their 60's, 70's, 80's and beyond, as captured by Cohen's lens.No need for tips on how to dress, just witness the variety and diversity of the ladies shown, add your own personality and stir. What they share in common is a colorful joie de vivre, and that appeals to women like me in their 40's. A number of friends my age have said that Advanced Style has inspired them to not give up, but to dress up. The book also seems to appeal to men and women under 30. My favorite response in talking with a 20 year old about the Advanced Style book was her enthusiastic comment of "I LOVE the Advanced Style ladies and I can't not wait to get to be their age!"The book itself is gorgeous: beautifully bound with rich color saturated pages, glossy as a magazine's. In fact, I think of Advanced Style as being more akin to a fashion magazine than a coffee table book. And what's in fashion this year? A marvelous celebration of style for all ages.

Makes Maturing a Thing to Anticipate...NOT FEAR! YAAY!
When I ran across his blog I immediately posted it on my Facebook page. the women reminded me of my mom. Stunning IN THEIR OWN RIGHT. Arranging their daily looks with care, but FOR THEMSELVES rather than some bizarre magazine article dictating "dressing for your age" and then defining some ridiculous, sterile and desexualized version of what that might be (does any mass marketing do that to guys? ....uh...that's rhetorical)Then the book came out and I just received it to send to my mom for her birthday cause she also has a thought-full, not random style. Except WHEN I SAW IT I REALIZED I WANTED IT TOOOOOO! So now I have to order another one (mostly cause my husband warned, "Nuh uh LorrieGay! that one's for Lillybean!) HERE IS CONFIRMATION THAT WE NEVER HAVE TO STOP BEING...AND APPEARING AS...OURSELVES. That beauty isn't in being stylish, but in being YOUR style. And that it can take half a lifetime or more to hone that distinctive style. Every single image/woman in this book has an element of fabulosity to aspire to. EVERY ONE! Not that I'm gonna stop my periodic tweaks and tucks. but within that, here are goals to strive for. This man, his muse, and all the women in here ROCK!!!!
