It will work on any analog input source. Designed for bass sources so You would expect it to excel in the range of bass guitar or bass synth. Can use with guitar, synth or bass, vocals. Use as an effect if you want to for your DAW or live sound. It's excellent for my fretless Fender Jazz Bass and Ampeg amp. Quiet circuitry also.
