I have a Samsung French door refrigerator at home (model No. RF28HFEDBSR/AA). Like many other buyers, I had no idea at first that Sumsung fridges have a few design problems: (1) Over time, ice builds up on the metal tubing/coils and fan behind the rear panel inside the upper fridge doors. This causes refrigeration to fail; (2) Water didn't drain properly through the small hole behind the rear panel inside the upper fridge doors. This caused water to overflow and leak onto the plastic surface just beneath deli drawer. At first, I was regularly taking apart the inside of my fridge in order to thaw away ice. This worked, but it's only a band-aid solution. The problems will return again within months. As I searched online for more solutions, I found that some people reported they had success by replacing a couple components, namely the temperature sensors and a metal piece that helps with preventing the water drain from freezing over. I bought this kit, watched a couple instructional videos (see below), and haven't had a problem with my fridge for about 3 months so far. I'm hoping that continues. This kit really seemed to help my fridge problems. I'm not sure it matters, but I wish the kit would specify which sensor is meant for the normal fridge area and which is meant for the freezer. Personally, I don't think I'll ever buy another Samsung refrigerator again. The problems I had with it really tested how much frustration I could endure. If it weren't for this kit, I would already be in the middle of replacing my Samsung. Good product although some detailed instructions would have helped

Fixed my E5 message on a fridge. Good value.

Couldn't get a repairman so I used this along with YouTube video. Freezer still worked, so I didn't want to trash the whole thing. Fridge is steady on 38 degrees for over 6 months. Great!

There was minimal cussing when the husband (not mechanically inclined at all) was installing the pieces. After it was all said and done though, it's been several months and there's been no ice build up. POS fridge still makes noise and still has that loud knocking sound on occasion. I'll never buy Samsung appliances again. Even my Dishwasher doesn't work well.

Greatly extended the time between having to manually defrost the fridge. But didn't cure the problem

As many owners know the Samsung French door refrigerator is very well layer out and a good value. The problem with many including mine was frost buildup and the drain from refrigerator section stopped up putting water under bottom tray. I put my old one in the garage with plans to give it away, but wasn’t picked up so after few days and it had throughly defrosted I installed the long drain heat tab and replaced the defrost sensor and plugged it all back up. Had been running couple of months and no water under drawer. Guess I could have kept in house, but I thought it was unfixable. I did buy a new Samsung, just like me old one and a 5 year warranty. Wife likes the nice roomy old Samsung in the garage now. After 11 years it still looks great.
