OXO Good Grips Trigger Ice Cream Scoop

We had one similar to this when we were kids and my mum would portion out the mashed potato for us using this, so every time we had mash they were in little scoops, so as a bit of fun and nostalgia I decided to look for one. It seems very robust and worked perfectly on the mashed potato, but not used it on ice cream yet, so don't know how it copes with that. Great little gadget and would recommend it.

This item is not only great for serving ice cream but is the perfect size for portioning thick batters/cake mix for large muffins. Using it for filling large muffin cases is much easier and cleaner on the tray than using 2 spoons. Besides this the muffins are much more evenly sized. Also use it for scooping left over mashed potato onto trays and freezing for making Duchee Potatoes etc. Easy to use and affords a very good grip for those of us manually challenged.

Good quality. Slight concern with the scoop release lever. I pressed the black rubber end piece and the lever bent slightly. However, once I pressed on the metal part of the lever it was fine and very solid. Easy to use. Comfortable grip

This is my second one of this model. I broke the first, not due to a defect I may add but my own stupidity! I don't actually use it to scoop ice cream so can't comment on its ability but I use it to measure cupcake mixture accurately so that I get uniform size cakes and it works a treat. The quality is good and the handle is comfortable to hold. Cheapest price I found online too with Amazon so that was a bonus!

Thumb lever bent on first use in SOFT scoop ice cream. Wiper arm broke off on first use. Not worth the money one bit. Bit of a mismatch really, its a nice enough handle but the working mechanism is cheap, flimsy crap. Buy yourself a spoon.

Happy with this product. No more bending spoons attempting to scoop ice cream in an effort to pacify my kid during lockdown. The trigger feature works well and can be used when making cupcakes to distribute batter equally, same with cookie dough.

I love the OXO Good Grips range but I have report sadly that this is the first item in the range that I have been a little disappointed with due to the fact that the lever you press is a little bit flimsy and seems to bend so easily. The solution I have found is to either soften the ice-cream first by removing it from the freezer 30 minutes before needing which is always practical when you have kids that decide last minute that they want an ice-cream or you let the head of the scoop sit in very hot water for a few minutes.

Really good quality and sturdy scoop. Bought to portion out cupcake batter and it's almost the perfect size - needs to be ever so slightly over-filled but it's easy to ensure scoop sizes are all equal. Only tiny niggle is it's minutely too wide for the size of my hand, but I can live with it because it's such a great scoop.

While the build seems to good in terms of grip and sturdiness. The scooping of ice-cream fron ice bucket directly taken out from fridge is a bit tough. Despite dipping the scooper in hotwater I struggled. I had to thaw the ice cream a bit before I could use it.
