Excelent service
Macbook stopped working on a Sunday and after a short investigation , I could see that this was an SSD failure (soldered on motherboard). Opened claim the same day and received the box to return the macbook in 2 days. After shipping it back within one day it was determined that it was beyond repair and issued full refund check. Whole process took approx 5 business date. I also had to call to verify some info, the representative was very polite and clarified all my questions. An overall very positive experience.

no hassle protection
I was skeptical at first when this insurance was offered, and even felt like it was a bit costly. but considering how many products my family and I purchase on Amazon, i took a chance. I have not been disappointed, I have had 2 claims so far, and Asurion handled it quickly and painlessly. One of the items was an expensive electronic item. They have earned my respect and continued business

Great customer service, well worth the cost
This protection plan was well worth the price. I actually used it twice! The first time my laptop was able to be fixed. After filing the claim, within 3 days, I received a box and return label. It was repaired and returned to me within 2 weeks. The second time, I filed the claim on line, received the box in 2 days. I received text notifications verifying it got there and their approximate time frame for repairs. The next notification let me know they had to order parts so it would take a little longer to fix. About 5 days later I received a text that my laptop could not be fixed and they were sending me a check for the full purchase price ! I received the check with 5 days of the notification!

Must Need
They replaced key components of a device that was sold to me defective on Amazon. I would have been out several hundred dollars in repairs if not for this plan. The manufacturer refused to help. I highly recommend a plant to protect your investment.

I regret buying this coverage
Bought this for an ASUS laptop. My laptop was dropped a short distance by TSA onto a counter at the airport but the laptop was still working, so thought no harm no foul. A few days later the laptop stops working completely. I went to file a claim with Asurion and I did not know if there was any physical damage. I FOLLOWED THE ASURION WEBSITE STEP BY STEP AND IT TOLD ME I WAS STILL IN WARRANTY, SO CONTACT ASUS. Okay, I did that whole painful process. Asus is awful btw. They misplaced my laptop, they're difficult to contact, the support website looks like it was built in the 90s, but fine I did it and wound up paying $100 for express shipping which did me no good at all since they were delayed in the repair time. Now it's been almost 4 weeks and I get a bill from ASUS indicating that they did find evidence of physical damage and I have a $300 repair bill. If I go through with the repair at ASUS, I'm $400 in the hole plus I previously paid for the $200 Asurion policy. I contact Asurion and their process is that you have to use their repair facility which is "allegedly" a certified ASUS repair partner. They would not be able to reimburse me if I went through the repair. Okay, well it will take a very long time to get that laptop back from ASUS, and I may have to pay for the return since it's not covered under warranty. So I would have to do that and then ship it out again to Asurion's vendor facility and wait what I assume will be a long time as laptop repairs can take quite a while. You cannot think of this like car insurance or anything you've ever dealt with before. I highly question why I should trust a third party repair facility and not the original manufacturer. Asurion wouldn't even cancel my policy and refund my money so I could recoup funds. Obviously, there are things I did not do well here due to lack of knowledge or awareness, but what really burns me is the whole reason why I went through ASUS for the repair is because I chose "laptop is no longer working" on the Asurion claims website and their bot automatically directed me to get service through ASUS per my warranty. The logic in this tool is faulty because there are clearly situations where the average consume would pick this option, and yet somehow there is unseen damage and the original manufacturer won't repair it without an extra fee. So no, I don't trust Asurion at all. Absolutely will not buy it again, and I buy a new computer every 1 - 2 years, so their loss.

Set your expectations
My laptop blew a gasket and I went through Asurion for their protection plan. No issues making contact, getting support (used chat), or getting the laptop setup for shipping to Asurion for repair. I had also worked with the manufacturer to diagnose the issue with the laptop, which was relayed to Asurion chat support. After working with Asurion on the details, the laptop was sent in for repair. This is where things derailed from my experience. When working with chat support, I requested to keep the hard drive in my possession due to security concerns since the laptop was being repaired, and was advised this was acceptable. Fast forward about 10 days later and I get an email that the effort on the laptop was complete and it was on it's way back. Once in possession of the laptop, there was documentation in the packaging that the warranty coverage had been denied because of an unauthorized repair attempt. I had set my expectations accordingly, so I guess this wasn't a surprise. In the documentation I had originally sent with the laptop were the troubleshooting notes, my contact info (text/email), along with the supporting details from the manufacturer that had been submitted to Asurion chat support. After making contact again with Asurion, I pled my case that an unauthorized repair had not been attempted and that troubleshooting effort was in line with the manufacturers guidance. Further, per Asurion chat support the repair had been denied because the hard drive was not in the system, and that the repair center had attempted to make contact and that they had left a voicemail. I get all forms of random calls, and do not have voicemail setup, so this detail was inaccurate. Either way, once again I was able to work with Asurion chat support to get the laptop sent back in, with hard drive this time. Fast forward another 8 days or so, and I get an email that the laptop is beyond repair and that they are reimbursing me for the cost. My preference is that this isn't a negative review, but more so cautionary. I don't believe Asurion chat support and their repair center are on the same page or that details are lost in translation, so if you use this service, set your expectations accordingly. My efforts to diagnose the issue were for not, and having an expectation that the laptop might be repaired was probably wishful thinking at best. In conclusion, A+ for the warranty reimbursement, and I think knowing ahead of time that the laptop may not come back to me would have made this a solid 5 star review.

Asurion came through for me!
Asurion kept their promise to either repair or replace my laptop or refund the purchase price, which they did, since the laptop was unrepairable. They were prompt and courteous. I'll continue to use them to protect my electronics!
