The Selection Stories: The Prince & The Guard: Two novellas revealing Prince Maxon and guard Aspen Leger's untold stories―both vying for America Singer's heart (The Selection Novella)

So this is a short little two book novella of The Prince and The Guard. This version of The Prince has a little extra special ending which was a great edition. I am not one to read novella unless I really love the normal series. So that goes to show you I REALLY LOVE this series!! I really enjoyed these two short stories set within the series as a whole. Although I wish that it would have been a set of more than just two of them. I know that I have heard that Cass has another one coming out soon and I wish they would have waited to publish this book until she was done with this world all together. It would have made it even better!! It also comes with the first chapter of The One which is the last book in this series. I haven't read it yet as I figured out that after starting it I didn't remember as much as I would have liked. So I will be rereading all three books here in the next week or so. This one gives us great insight of both men in America's life. The Prince and The Guard were great and I kinda wish that they would release special edition copies of the books with these put back in where they lay. This is one series that I wish would have been in multi POVs between America, Max, and Ash. I think it would have made for an even better book.

This book was a great (small) edition to the Selection series. I only just got 'The Selection' and 'The Elite' a couple weeks ago and breezed through them. I was eager for more, so getting this set of novellas and added bonus content is great while waiting the oh-so-long timeframe until the series conclusion, 'The One,' comes out in May. 'The Prince' is a great story told from Maxon's point of view. I already love him, so was happy to have more insight into his world. It touches a little deeper in his life with info we got toward the end of 'The Elite.' It starts a couple weeks before the Selection is set to begin and then takes the reader through his point of view in meeting America. 'The Guard' was also good although I liked it less because I like Aspen less than Maxon. It goes through his point of view of events that took place in 'The Elite.' Also a good read and adds more depth to his character. The extra sneak peek of 'The One' is what I read first because I'm that anxious for the conclusion. It starts right where the last one finished - America is continuing her insecure feelings when Maxon is focusing his attention on the other elite, the rebel attacks, her inability to let go of one of the two men in her life. For Twilight readers, it's very similar to the Bella-Edward-Jacob triangle. She tries a new tactic to appeal to Maxon and it was pretty entertaining. Can't wait to read the conclusion! This book is a great purchase even if you've already read the two novellas separately. There are family trees with the author's notes, a list of the selected girls, plus the sneak peek, of course. If you like additional content like that, it's definitely worth the purchase. Gorgeous cover, too!

The Prince--It was interesting reading about what the Prince was thinking, but felt like we still did not know who the Prince really was (as a person). Needed more background information on the main character or depth. The Guard--Now this was a book that really developed the depth of the character. It gave a new perspective or angle on the story. This book is definitely a "have to read" and important book in the series..

This series is amazing & these stories really add to the 3 main books. I'm not even close to being a teenager, but am definitely in touch with my youth & feelings. Both my Mom (70) & myself (42) were amazed Kiera Cass' writing. She's a natural that even makes the author's notes interesting. She really knows how to create characters you invest in.

I enjoyed both the novellas (but did not read the sneak peek of "The One" - must. wait.). I read The Prince early on and liked that we got his perspective from the beginning of The Selection as he gets ready for his life to turn upside down. I have mixed feelings for The Guard, I just didn't see the point to it except to appease the "Team Aspen" fans (I have a bet going that Aspen ends of with either Lucy or Mary). At the end of The Selection, America decides that she wants to stay and has feelings for Maxon (great). The Guard takes place during The Elite and even though America goes back and forth (bipolar almost), in the end of The Elite she is STILL staying for Maxon. It's almost as if Ms. Cass was throwing a red herring in there so we all just don't assume America ends up with Maxon. Maybe she doesn't end up with either of them. There are enough snippets and quotes and twitter comments that are all over the place. Whatever. I'm hooked and I've got my orders in for The One.

This book gives you the side of both Prince Maxon and the side of Aspen, America's first love. This book fills in what you want to know about the men in America's life. It shows what they were feeling when she was going through her part of the Selection. This is a vital part of The Selection if you truly want to see all sides of what is going on during The Selection. It shows what the men went through on their own without America's knowledge. It shows how they handled the thoughts of each other during this time. I highly recommend this book as a part of the whole The Selection Series!

I loved getting to see into Aspen’s mind. Aspen isn’t my favorite character but I have to say that I was definitely excited to see his point of view. I could really tell that Aspen cared about America a lot but I could also see that he looked at the situation selfishly too. Seeing how the guards acted around each other and than how they acted around the royals and elite gave a really good perspective on what goes on in the palace where there aren’t cameras and pressure for the “game show.” I think Cass did a great job with this novella. I think it is very nicely written and it follows “The Elite” quite nicely. I am now looking forward to “The One” more than ever. Yes, I have already pre-ordered my copy.

I love this series! I enjoyed every moment with America.

El complemento perfecto para los seguidores de la saga. El inglés es slmuy sencillito y se entiende genial y el libro tiene un formato muy agradable, aunque algo más pequeño que sus compañeros en español. A mí en concreto me ha enamorado.

Als absoluter Fan der Selection Trilogy habe ich natürlich auch The Selection Story begeistert gelesen. In "The Selection Storys" veröffentlicht Kiera Cass ihre Kurzgeschichten aus den Perspektiven von Prince Maxon und Aspen. In 8 Kapiteln erhalten wir in "The Prince" einen Einblick in Prince Maxons Leben. Der Handlungsstrang beginnt hierbei kurz vor "The Selection" und endet kurz nachdem Maxon America das erste Mal traf. Besonders lesenswert finde ich, sind die 8 Kapitel, weil wir hier mehr über die Mutter-Sohn Beziehung von Prince Maxon und Queen Amberly erfahren. Des Weiterin ist es spannend zu lesen, wie Maxon auf die einzelnen Mädchen reagiert und was er von ihnen hält. Das absolute Highlight ist aber wahrscheinlich das Aufeinandertreffen von America und Maxon und zu erfahren, wie er tatsächlich von ihr dachte und aus welchen Gründen er sie trotz ihrem "Fehlverhalten" nicht nach Hause schickte. "The Guard" hat 11 Kapitel, welche Passagen aus "The Elite" aus der Sicht von Aspen erzählen. Ich fand Aspen rechts schwer zugänglich, bis ich "The Guard" gelesen habe. Ich konnte nicht verstehen, aus welchen Gründen er America damals in den Kontest schickte. Nun da ich "The Guard" gelesen habe, verstehe ich den Charakter deutlich besser. Das interessante an "The Guard" waren allerdings die ganzen Hintergrundsinformationen. Als Soldat hat Aspen Zugang zu Informationen, die America niemals erhalten könnte. So bekommt er Gespräche mit, welche sehr aufschlussreich für die gesamte Story sind. Ich würde mir mehr davon wünschen. Als Extra gibt es drei Kapitel aus "The One", die die Aufregung auf das letzte Buch ins unermäßliche steigern. Nachdem America in "The Elite" das Schloss beinahe verlassen hätte, muss sie nun alles daran setzten sich zu beweisen und Maxon für sich zu gewinnen. Das stellt sich jedoch eindeutig als schwerer raus, als gedacht. Das wird schon alleine in den ersten drei Kapiteln deutlich. Es wird sehr spannend werden! Soviel steht fest. Zusammenfassend kann man sagen, dass "The Selection Story" ein absolutes "Must have" für alle Fans der Selection Trilogy ist, es aber dringend notwendig ist "The Selection" und "The Elite" bereits gelesen zu haben. Ich vergebe 5 Sterne für diesen kurzweiligen Lesespaß und Ergänzung zu den bereits erschienenen Büchern.

I wanted to read this book after completing "The Selection" series. I loved the way Kiera Cass twist every twist like a maze. I am very satisfied with the amazon package and the delivery.
