This is my third Wahl rechargeable. Each has been better than the one before.On checking my purchase history, I see that this one has lasted 11 years. I can’t complain about durability or anything else I can think of.It’s a pleasure to get good value in a purchase these days. I’m thinking about this as I shop to replace a 32 year old refrigerator. Consumer Reports says that the average lifespan for a new refrigerator is just 10 years and the ice maker breaks after just 5 years. See what I mean about value?I recommend this trimmer to anyone looking for good value in a well made product.Now, back to that refrigerator….

I read a lot of the reviews and that helped me make my decision. I've had this trimmer a couple of months now, and really love it. I'll start with the points I did NOT find easily in other reviewsYes, it does a great job trimming the edges of your mustache above the lip, etc. I've had all-in-one beard groomers where the trimming attachment did not cut well. Not so with this one. The first time I used it I was instantly showing a lot more lip than I had planned on. In other words, it trims mustaches better than anything I have used before.The other point I was unclear about in other reviews was the usefulness of the nose/ear trimmer attachment. I have owned 2 or 3 of those battery powered rotating types before, and always found them so-so. This trimmer attachment does a much better job than those, and is faster. Just stick it in your ear or nose and you're done in 2 seconds, whereas the rotary types make you keep doing it for a while before it seems like you're done. The noise level is not a problem at all for me - it's noisy but not objectionable in your ear, about the same or less noise level as my rotary trimmer.For beard trimming (I have a goatee that I keep fairly short), it works well but is slightly less convenient than the all-in-one beard groomers I have owned. You have to switch attachments, which is frankly very easy, though not as easy as just dialing in a 3 or 4 on one of those beard groomers. And the attachments are a bit of a pain because you have to either pick, for instance, a 2 or 3 beard trimmer, or else use the 6-position trimmer attachment. That 6-position trimmer attachment is what I use, and it's fine, though adjusting it's height requires a little more effort than it should.Battery life is outstanding, and what puts it above everything else. It lasted 2 months of frequent use on its first charge, and I expect it to last for years. Other beard groomers I have owned (both Panasonic) died after a couple of years and had to be plugged in.The attachments in general are a bit of a pain, as everyone else mentions. However, putting them on and off is really easy - not as complicated (at least to me) as others have mentioned. I keep them all in the tray on my countertop and it works fairly well. The tray gets really crowded, so I've take some of the attachments I'm never going to use and put them in a drawer. It is nice to have your oil and brush right there whenever you need them - otherwise I would not clean and oil it as often as I should:)For haircutting, I agree with everyone else. This thing is really narrow, even with the wider cutting head attached. It's about half the width of my corded Wahl trimmer, which is what I've been using to cut my hair (and does a great job). Also, the attachments are not long enough for my hair, which normally takes a 4 and a 5 attachment. Not sure if you can buy longer attachments for it or not. I think the best solution is just to spend another 30 bucks on the corded Wahl unit like I did. It's a beast, seems to actually dim the lights when you turn it on (semi-kidding here but you get the idea).For all around trimming, meaning sideburns and hairline at back of neck, it's super. The normal attachment does a great job of shaping your hair and cuts super sharp.In sum - it's outstanding for moustache/ear/nose trimming as well as shaping your beard or hair at the edges. Don't bother thinking it's going to be very good for actually cutting your hair.

[3 week Update: I omitted this before, but, I bought this unit primarily to shave my head. (I keep my pate at about "stubble level" because I prefer that over complete smoothness.) So, I decided to try the Wahl Li-Ion Trimmer as a replacement of my previous, 3 year-old wahl trimmer/shaver, which was beginning to have charging & power issues. And I have to say that, -for this specific purpose- the Wahl Li-Ion doesn't quite "cut" it. In fact, despite offering a more consistent beard trimming experience, it actually takes more passes over my head to get the hair down to that afore-mentioned stubble. (Go figure.) Apart from this, the rest of my review remains pretty much in tact...]About shipping/handling: I received the unit in only 3 days (ordered Sun.; arrived Wed.) despite my choosing the cheapest (read: "free") shipping option. Kudos to Amazon for that! (I'm sure it doesn't hurt that I live in Los Angeles.)About the unit: Seems like a good, solid buy. Tested all the service attachments (blades & dual-screen); 3 of the 4 seemed to work as well as any of the 5 or 6 shavers I've had in my adult life (though the dual-screen seems a skosh narrow for its intended purpose). The one attachment that seemed the least useful is the nose-hair trimmer. It just didn't seem functional enough to warrant inclusion in the kit (though I think I understand why it was, given the niche for which this unit was designed).Some have mentioned a qualm with the rubberized handle, noting that hairs seem to "eagerly" cling to it. Well ...duh. But I see it as more useful than annoying, since the sport of shaving can often involve slippage from the hand! Ergo: rubber is good! (c: (Here, I'll also note that on the front of my unit - where the rubber meets the plastic - the upper edge of the rubber doesn't perfectly align with the bottom edge of the plastic. A VERY minor flaw which would be a ridiculous reason to return it, but, it is what it is.)"Vibration" issues have also been noted by some as problematic. Here, I wonder about the experience of most folks - as, a good, strong unit is bound to feel & sound like it - especially at this price point! It wasn't a concern for me at all, and so far has only reinforced the initial impression I have of, well ...a "good, strong unit."Now for a word of pure praise: Kudos to Wahl for their quickly interchangeable head system. Wowie-zowie but is that ever useful. Once I got the hang of it, those suckers went on & off with panache! (It certainly raises the "useful" quotient by more than a bit!) I sure hope this feature keeps working for years to come. If so, then, it'll definitely be a winning feature, in my book.The one *potentially* serious concern I have about its design is the Li-Ion battery. I say 'potentially' because, for the most part, I think the battery is a strength(!) I mean, come on ...a full shave after only a quick, 3-minute charge?! Seriously, that's a real benefit, folks. I have yet to test it myself, but, am thinking I may need to, given the fact that (and here's my "concern") a company representative admitted that the battery's "smart-chip" -tasked with overcharge prevention- may also prevent any charge at all if the unit is left plugged in for more than 3 hours. (Note to self: unplug after 3 hours!) A tad annoying, but, problem easily solved, nevertheless.So, four stars (or maybe 3.75), due to the few (relatively) minor design flaws detailed above. Ultimately, though, I see this unit as a pretty decent deal - especially given the $32 price (sans shipping).PS: the plastic stand isn't quite as shabby as others have made it out to be. I've found it to be of pretty standard grade. Though, admittedly, it doesn't do the best job of housing all the accessories.

This was a gift so I’m not very familiar with it. It appears to be a nice set and my grandson in-law seems to be pleased with it. I know from previous experience that Wahl has a good reputation for making good hair care products. Even though there was plenty of other beard trimmers that cheaper, I felt that a Wahl was worth the higher price.

I just got mine the other day and put it to use right away after charging it as per the instructions. This trimmer cost a little more than a similar model, but I got this one in particular because the battery has a 3 hour life span before needing to be charged which is great for traveling.The interchangeable heads are super easy to literally pop on and off, and using the trimmer is straight forward. I liked the attachments it came with and I found them sufficient for what I need. I have a short mustache and beard, so I found the number III spacer perfect for the job, but those with heavier beards, this does come with a thicker spacer/comb that is adjustable. If you need additional spacers/combs, the machine comes with a parts number list that one can order from Wahl directly.Easy to clean, easy to use, and easy to store away in the included pouch!

I wanted to like this trimmer, but it's just not up to par. I love that you can interchange the different head attachments and the battery lasts for quit a while. However, the cutting quality of the blade attachment is terrible. It constantly rips the hairs out instead of cutting them, making for an uncomfortable trimming experience. Of course the blade attachment was my primary reason for purchasing so it's basically useless. I just don't think the cutting speed is on par with the older models and that's why it's pulling instead of cutting. Will go back and purchase the same older model Wahl (Model 9918-6171V) that i had, as that worked flawlessly.

I've had quite a few trimmers over the years. I have a sensitive face, and don't like to shave every day, so between shaves I trim the stubble. All my past trimmers had several problems. They would occasionally pull hair instead of cutting it, the batteries wouldn't hold a charge very long, the charge they would hold would diminish over time, and the motors seemed to lose some power. Also, recommended charge time was typically 12 - 15 hours. Of course that's because all my old trimmers had NiMH batteries.Then I got the Wahl in December of 2011. It's lightweight, but you can really feel the power the first time you shave. No pulling hair, just a nice, clean cut. The first time you charge, they recommend charging for 1 hour. This thing holds a charge great, too. The Lithium Ion batteries are so much better! I see more trimmers offer the Lithium batteries than they did a year ago, but not many in this price range. I can't say just how long the batteries last, but they seem to go on forever. I keep thinking it must be ready to die soon, but it just keeps going. So it's easy to charge before it dies. Forget about 'battery memory' with Lithium, there isn't any. Any charge will do. You don't want to charge or discharge them too much, but Lithium batteries generally have built in safeguards against that happening.There are a few cons, but nothing worth taking off a star. Other trimmers offer "lube for life", meaning you never have to oil the blades. You do need to oil the blades on this Wahl. However, it's pretty easy to put a drop or 2 of oil on the blades once a week, and it helps give a smooth shave. I have a feeling the the oil free trimmers might be more for planned obsolescence. Lubed for life, just a short life. The storage 'rack' is pretty cheap, and the pieces don't fit all that great. If you use it, don't bump it. I just keep my trimmer and accessories in a drawer cubby.I would definitely recommend this trimmer. If you need different features, at least try to find a lithium or a trimmer that also works off AC while plugged in.

Got this trimmer about 2 weeks ago, been using it about every other day so far. I needed a new trimmer after my old Wahl crapped out on me, and so far, I really like this trimmer. This definitely seems more powerful than my previous Wahl, allowing me to get an even trim on one pass over any given area. Despite the extra power, I don't feel like it's any louder, nor does it create any more uncomfortable vibration while shaving. It's also quite a bit lighter than my previous trimmer.Although it comes with attachments for cutting the hair on top of your head, I can't imagine this would really be strong enough for that job. I'm sure it could work...but I wouldn't want to let someone use it on my head. This is a beard trimmer. Those attachments are just there to boost the "usability value" of this product, not for actual use in my opinion.Despite what I read from another reviewer, I think the deatailer / nose hair attachment works quite well. It's narrow enough to get in your nose and snip those pesky hairs, so what more do you want from it? Switching between attachments is a breeze, so I'm not sure why some people find issue with that either.The foil shaver is great. I've always preferred a rotating head style for electric shavers, as foil shavers tend to pull hair out of your face rather than cut it. Maybe it's the power from the motor, but this foil shaver does a great job. I don't feel the tugging I'm used to from other foil shavers and I think it actually gives me a closer shave than my dedicated Norelco electric shaver (not trimmer like this). Still quicker to use the Norelco, but I really do think this foil shaver gets a little closer.So far, I've ran this out of power once, but it was intentional. I wanted to check the quick charge function. Sure enough, after only a minute of charging (after it was dead), I was able to run it for between 3-4 minutes. That is a great feature for those days where the battery dies on you before work and you don't have the time to wait around for it to recharge so you can finish the job. After running it down from the quick charge, I charged it for an hour, since that's supposedly a full charge. Well, I've been using it every other day for a week and a half since and it hasn't died yet. So, I'm pretty pleased with the overall battery life. But, this brings me to my first issue. It has no light or anything to tell you when it's fully charged. All I ask for is a little LED or something that lights up or blinks when charged. But, no such luck with this trimmer.My other relatively minor issue is the tray for the attachments. I have no idea how they fit everything in the tray. I don't even have the haircut attachments in there, since I'm not ever using those, and I still can't fit everything in it nicely. It's just a small, cheap, plastic tray that doesn't serve much purchase. I appreciate the small size considering I keep this in the medicine cabinet, but still...if I can't really fit the pieces in it, what good is it?Summary: If you want a lightweight, powerful beard trimmer that won't leave you hanging with half a beard in the morning, this product from Wahl is an awesome buy. If you're looking to use this north of your ears and eyebrows, look elsewhere.

Used once and Item did not charge on first charging and unable to returnIs there any warranty?

I used this product and it's great. The shave is close and nice. The shaver feels solid in your hand and not cheap.The delivery and service was excellent!

The main problem with the trimmer was that it shipped with an American plug only. I had to buy a US to UK plug converter to charge it. The combs supplied were only good for stubble or bushy beard. Nothing in between. Unit looks great and battery life is awesome.
