Exactly what I was looking for
I received my order just in time to take it with me on an ocean kayaking trip. Before heading out, I wanted to get acquainted with it. Needless to say, after reading the manual, inserting batteries (more on batteries in a sec), and stepping through the channels, I was ready to go. Literally, it is that easy. Just read the guide, it will step you through the way. What I like is that this radio offers a triple weather alert. Meaning it's monitoring multiple channels every 2 seconds. I realize that is more for boats/vessels, but I feel safer knowing it is available to me. I also like the big clip that you snap on the back. I tried it on my PFD (*before heading to the water), it fits perfectly by clipping on with no problems. One thing to be mindful of. DONT USE THE BATTERIES THAT COME WITH IT! Through the setup and learning process, which requires you to turn the radio on and off for a few settings, depleted the batteries to halfway. This could be a danger if you're out on the water and have an emergency and need to make multiple calls for assistance. So, I switched out the crappy batteries and inserted my own. I played with it for like 20 min just to see if maybe my unit was faulty etc., or if it was the batteries. Sure enough, after all my turning it on and off, changing backlit color (which is super cool btw), the batteries I inserted did not drain the battery. So my radio is fine, it was just the batteries that come with it are terrible. So take them out, replace them with new batteries, and go enjoy your day on the water. Trust me, you will feel much safer having this awesome radio with you. Cheers.

Replaceable Batteries! Only handheld worth buying
I am so tired of fighting with manufactures over poor batteries and every one failed to replace under warranty. This 155 model uses AAA rechargeable batteries. That's all you need to hear. They go bad, $8 available at any decent store or Amazon. Even runs on regular AAA batteries no problem.Charger only brings batteries up to 1.28v each. You should buy a decent multi state charge conditioner to use once a year to restate the battery charge.I will never buy lithium battery radios again. 4 aaa alkaline batteries a season in the ditch bag just in case and I'll never need to worry offshore.3w power is a tad low but got the bridges on ICW at 1nm out no problem. Works well on open water too. Water proof worked well for the one time it was dropped in the Bahamas. No worries. Hit two rocks and into the ocean at Shroud Cay. No damage.Belt clip doubles as battery tray opener, nice touch.

Phenomenal performance, poor stock batteries
Radio itself has phenomenal range for receiving, not sure entirely about transmission but itโs satisisfactory at least, but the batteries came bad, wouldnโt charge till I shoved my own in it, the rechargeable ones are cheap (8 pack for 12usd, of which youโll only need 4 aaa NIMH) so if itโs on sale itโs worth it, otherwise wait

Horrible VHF radio
This is a poorly made and substandard functioning radio. The battery is terrible. It does not last all day and if you want to transmit you may be able to get a couple hours of use with frequent transmitting. The radio is preset to tune into channel 12 every time you turn it on. It doesn't matter if the lock button is on and doesn't matter which channel you were tuned to when the radio was turned off. It always goes back to channel 12. The speaker is low quality and it is difficult to hear at any volume level is a quiet place and impossible to hear if you have anything else around you making noise. Don't waste your time buying.

Quality product, great form factor, easy to use.
Great little radio. Made in Vietnam. Includes a 12 volt car charger, and 4 rechargeable 950mah AAA batteries. I ran it all day and it used hardly any battery. Monitoring VHF 16, calls came in clearly with no static after properly adjusting squelch. It doesn't include an AC charger, but it's meant for use on your boat, so the standard car charger is great. I use an eneloop wall charger when charging at home, and carry 4 spare eneloop AAA batteries in case the radio runs low on charge while out on my dinghy. It's just the right size to strap to a life-jacket and fits nicely in the hand. I haven't tested it for waterproof-ness but the battery compartment has a quality rubber seal so I'm sure it's effective. Highly recommend for offshore sailing, surfing, etc. Carrying a radio offshore could save your life!

Beware of the battery defect!!!
I wish I had read the battery reviews before purchasing. This product has a battery defect, and the company requires customers to pay for shipping for repairs. If the warranty has expired, the repair costs can exceed the original purchase price. Very disappointing company policy.
