don t force it and it works fine /it how much are going to sand down 50 coarse for heavy ,then move up to 180gits and up /also be care full it turns into a pit bull 50g...light weight on it just enough and it will do it/it work fine on poly urit.....table /cover yourself or protect from dust /mask ,jut fine

Would you recommend this product for sanding stairs and a banister?

Of course you can. This will allow you to get up into the corners where the tread and riser meet, any skirt board details, and at 16,000 rpm it’s easily more powerful than just about any orbital/finish sander on the market. Leaves Milwaukee, dewalt, makita, rigid etc all in the dust. No pun intended. If you want the most versatile sander of any style, this is it. You could sand an entire hardwood floor with this if you had the time lol although I wouldn’t recommend that. Point is you’ll use this more frequently on future projects, guaranteed. I would invest in a belt sander also. Then you have the best of both worlds.

where can I find the parts? I need the correct sheets and a pad replacement. I don't find any generic sheets that satisfy the hole pattern.

You can buy them here at Amazon.com. I've found them at Ace Hardware, Home Depot did not have them available in California.You aren't likely to find generic pads for this small sander.
