Perfectly Easy Horchata And Tastes Like A Dream
Please don’t ever stop making this! Rice Dream Horchata is AMAZING!!! I put it in the fridge to chill and I pour myself a full cup. It tastes incredible! It’s smooth and has the perfect amount of sweetness. It’s shelf stable. I purchased 6 of them. I put them in my cabinet and I put 2 in the fridge to get them nice and cold. That’s all there is to it for me. You can add more cinnamon if you want to and you can add ice too. If you want it to last a little longer, you could add some Rice Dream Vanilla as well. I love it just like it is. It’s really an easy drink and it tastes delicious. The ingredients are perfect. I love the thickness of it too. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be watered down, but it wasn’t at all. It’s perfect and the makers know what they’re doing, since they make rice milk anyway. Amazon, please continue to sell this and I will buy more. It’s expensive, but what isn’t expensive these days? It’s a great treat and awesome splurge every now and then. No mixing required. Just chill, drink, and enjoy.

Best commercial horchata!
I'm an horchata addict, but I think the ones at most of our local restaurants and taco stands are way too sweet. I make it at home exactly to my taste, but when I want it immediately, this brand is perfect. We definitely add cinnamon to this, but that's what we do with my homemade horchata. Better to add based on your own preference than have it be too strong. Be sure to serve it over ice! One more thing...we think that some boxes taste a bit different from each other...or it could be we're just thirstier? Not sure, but in any case, we always like it. Edit: Someone asked a question about expiration dates and someone gave a one-star review for expiration date. I purchased one case on June 23, 2016 and it has a "best used by" date of Feb 15, 2017. I purchased another case a week or so later and it also had a Feb 15, 2017 best by date. These were better dates than our local grocery store. Cheaper, too. Edit #2, 06/07/2017: I did eventually receive one carton with a recent expiration date. Amazon responded immediately and shipped out the new case. Very easy. Also, I decided I should share my best tips! I'm like an horchata geek now, lol! Tip #1) Most recipes for homemade horchata call for Mexican cinnamon. We like to sprinkle extra on our homemade and Rice Dream horchata. After research, I found that the Mexican cinnamon is actually Ceylon cinnamon from Sri Lanka and is a bit milder, and maybe a little bit sweeter. The bark is also softer. I've purchased the Ceylon bark and ground Ceylon cinnamon on Amazon. Frontier brand. Great product! Also, I can definitely taste the difference and I love the Ceylon. In the US and Canada, we apparently use primarily Cassia cinnamon (from China, Indonesia, India, Vietnam.) Costco sells it as Saigon cinnamon. It's a stronger tasting cinnamon to me and I still prefer it in my baking and cinnamon toast. Tip #2: I was running low on Rice Dream Horchata. It is rarely found in grocery stores around here. Rice Dream (plain or vanilla) is readily available. I decided to add some vanilla Rice Dream to stretch it and it worked well! It was still very tasty. I added more Ceylon cinnamon to my taste and was pleased. Now, if the brand would just eliminate carrageenan, I would be even happier. Cheers!

Tasty
Clever move by Rice Dream to make a Horchata flavor. It’s quite tasty. For those reviewers saying their foil tops were open before they opened them, I’m pretty sure the lids actually cut/open the foil as you twist the lids off, so the foil wasn’t opened before you twisted the lids, you actually cut/opened the foil by twisting the lids off. Technology, eh.

Delicious and Fair Priced!
I was introduced to Horchata a while back as a post-meal drink, served with ice, at a restaurant... and on a whim, I decided to buy a carton at a store, and re-found the flavor I had been looking for! And then I found THIS on Amazon, and again, at Whole Foods! Spending $20-24 for a 6-pack of this specialized drink is NOT a bad deal! The flavor tastes like dairy, but with cinnamon! And like the time at the restaurant, it tastes AMAZING with a few rocks of ice! If you didn't know, Horchata is actually water that was mixed with rice for a while, and then the rice was removed, and cinnamon was added. TOTALLY healthy, and can be used for a number of things, even every day normal drinking, or non-alcoholic celebratory drinking! Just be sure to watch out for that one family member with a sweet tooth!
