I was looking at different options for wireless music but was turned off by many options due to the high price tag. It seems that a lot of solutions have all sorts of bells and whistles that nobody really needs which seems to drive up the cost of those systems. I accidentally stumbled upon the Amphony iFinity line during my research. These products seemed to offer exactly what I was looking for. It seems to have a robust wireless protocol, good range and I can set up different transmitters throughout my house and have different audio zones by pairing each of the wireless speakers to any of the transmitters. I didn't find a lot of reviews about the iFinity line and so I just bought the most basic kit which includes one transmitter base and one wireless speaker. There are also other bundles with 2 speakers. I think each transmitter supports up to 4 wireless speakers. But I wanted to test these speakers out before purchasing any additional speakers. The cost of the system I got was a great deal less than those other wireless audio systems that I looked at during my research. Also, I used to own a Recoton wireless speaker which had terrible sound quality and so I had quite a few reservations about purchasing this set. I received the set yesterday. After unpacking the speaker I immediately liked the looks of the product. It is solidly built, not heavy by any means and is rather stylish. But I was much more curious about how it would perform after having had such a bad experience with the other wireless speakers that I owned. I hooked the transmitter base up to power and plugged in my iPhone into the iPod cradle. I set the iPhone to a playlist with several tunes of Pop music. Then I fired up the speaker. There was no sound coming from the speaker which made me think that I had received a bad product. But then I realized that I had to pair the speaker with the transmitter by pushing a small button. The pairing only took a few seconds. After that the speaker came alive. I am really impressed with the sound quality of this speaker. I have a pair of Sony bookshelf speakers in my living room. The sound coming from the Amphony wireless is indistinguishable from the sound coming from my Sony speakers. I would even say that the bass of the Amphony is a bit more solid than the Sony. I never expected a wireless speaker to deliver such amazing sound. If I didn't know that the speaker was wireless I would not be able to tell simply by listening to it. No hissing, no crackling, just pure sound. The speaker has a tone control which I used to reduce the treble a bit to bring it more in line with the midrange. After my initial test I then took the speaker around my house to see how far the little transmitter would be able to send my music. I started out in my kitchen, then went to my upstairs bedroom and finally went outside to my backyard. I could not find any spot around the house or outside where the speaker wouldn't work. Regardless of whether the speaker was close to the transmitter base or outside the house, it would play without any hickups. Note also that I have Wifi around my house and my iPhone has Bluetooth. I think Amphony has done a great job with the wireless transmission. The old Recoton speakers I owned would only work up to 100 ft line of sight and often crackle whenever someone switched on a device. What I like also is that I can crank up the speaker really loud and the sound won't distort. This is great because I can use this speaker outside my house where I have lots of noise and then crank it up. The only drawback is that the speaker needs a power outlet. This is not a problem since I have power in every room of my house but having a battery option may have been a nice feature for using the speaker outdoors. I realize though that I would never be able to get 80 Watts out of this speaker if I had it running off batteries. I checked some other speakers that use batteries and they all offer 5 Watts at the most with fresh batteries. So I don't think not having battery power is such a great deal. BTW, the transmitter base is tiny. If you have some long wires connected to the transmitter you will have to be careful not to pull it off the table. I haven't tested the other audio inputs but there is an input that accepts speaker cables which I suppose are for using the wireless speakers as rear speakers in connection with an AV receiver. There is also a line audio input that connects to anything else such as MP4 players. What I am planning now is to get one or more additional wireless speakers (without a transmitter). I will put one outside my house and use the other one together with the speaker I already own as stereo speakers for my master bedroom. I am not really concerened about putting the speaker outside since it appears to be water resistant. Later I may add a second transmitter which I will hook up to my Dish Network satellite receiver to stream commercial free music channels through my house. This will become my second audio zone transmitter. Review: I like it a lot!!! - The speaker does exactly what I wanted, proving music to my pool area. It is really nice to leave the IPod in the house, because my IPod freezes up in the heat, as it is a bit older. My wife has also used her computer with it, and it works perfectly. The only issue is that the reception gets a bit funky if too many active cell phones get in between the base and the speaker, but if you just turn off and on, it seems fine. All in all, I got what I wanted! :-)

On/Off switch doesn’t work
When we received this product the on/off switch was hard to turn off and on and we didn’t think it was right but the speaker worked. Now, less than a year in, the on/off has quit working. It never worked like it should from the beginning and now totally broken. Very disappointed in this product

which we LOVE!
Wanted to use this speaker in my kitchen. But it was very big and boxy and took up too much counter space. Also it had to be near an outlet. So we decided to put it on top of our refrigerator and run the plug down to where the fridge was plugged in. But the on/off controls are located on the back of the speaker and impossible to reach. Also we were having a hard time getting it to work with our TV. So I had to pay big postage to insure and return a large heavy box. Not their fault. It just wasn't for us. Ended up buying a much smaller portable wireless TV speaker, which we LOVE!

Excellent wireless range
I have an attic in my house which I am converting into a game room. I was looking for a way to stream the music channels from my Dish Network satellite receiver to my attic without the hassle of rewiring my home. I didn't want to spend more than $300 so I didn't go for any of the more expensive multi room audio systems that are out there. Instead I opted for this speaker as it promised good wattage/cost. I also looked at some of the other models of wireless speakers but stayed away from those since they are realistically 5 Watt speakers at best which would not have been enough for my attic. After unpacking the speaker, I was surprised by how massive the speaker is. It is fairly heavy which I suppose is due to its fairly thick enclosure. The wireless transmitter on the other hand is quite small. I placed the speaker onto a small stand around 3 feet tall facing towards the middle of my attic. The transmitter is located in the living room on top of my satellite receiver. I am using a Y connector to connect the RCA outs of my satellite receiver to the transmitter. The setup of the transmitter and speaker is fairly quick. You plug in power to both units and then pair the speakers with the transmitter which takes less than 10 seconds. I would recommend that you pair the speaker with the transmitter while it is in the same room unless you want to dash upstairs to the speaker after pressing the pairing button on the transmitter. I think you have around 1 minute to pair everything up. It is important to set the volume control (which is actually a level control) of the transmitter unit properly. This is a one-time setup though. The speaker volume can be controlled at the speaker itself. I can also use the remote control of the satellite receiver to control the volume and change channels. The sound quality of the speaker is excellent even to my aging ears. I have quite a few brands of speakers in my house and these wireless speakers perform well in comparison to those. The loudness is more than enough. I never have to turn the volume up more than one third to get adequate volume. For fun I did turn the volume up all the way to see if there was any distortion. I didn't hear any distortion although at that level it is a bit harder to tell. Nonetheless there was no noticeable vibration of the speaker itself. What mostly surprised me about this speaker though was the wireless range. I do have a Netlink wireless router in my living room but notice frequent dropouts when I connect to my router from my iPhone in the attic. However, this speaker performs flawlessly. There are no dropouts whatsoever. I did not try putting the speaker outdoors but I am planning to get a second speaker for outdoors. Overall I am very pleased with this speaker. It has better sound quality than most wireless models that I have owned in the past and very good range.
