CEESC Medium Cat Door for Interior/Exterior, for Pets <15.75", White

Angus Theodore Hicks O.K. (Office Kitty) gives it a big thumbs up! Constantly frustrated, waiting for hoomans to open the door so he could visit the service techs in their break room, perform mousing duty, etc, and then return to his office for nourishment, bathroom duties, pampering, and naps in his climbing tower, Angus clearly needed the situation corrected! Concerned that vermin would be allowed to roam freely on weekends, when he was jailed inside the main office, Angus convinced management to make an "investment" and perform mild demolition to the wall between the office and the storage/break rooms. Having supervised the installation process VERY CLOSELY, he can assure future purchasers that if his office workers could manage to install it correctly, well, that should speak to the difficulty level. Within a couple of hours, he had trained the door to open with a firm head bump, his sense of freedom was overwhelming, and the ability to "up" his exercise routine to include high speed dashes throughout the various rooms and offices also led to much deeper and satisfying naps! The ultimate joy was when he was able to "play" with an unwary employee who came in Saturday morning, still a bit groggy, perhaps a little forgetful of the new "door", and woefully unprepared for a large black object to come hurtling out of the wall at him. No longer were employees forced to peer through glass, longing to give Angus his morning pettings....he could be right there, with nary a few second delay between the time they open the entry door until he launched onto their laps! Clearly, this new portal was a great benefit to Angus's fellow workers, who no longer are forced to miss even a few minutes of his attention and loving! Angus assures all shoppers that the true value of this door is a steal at even ten, twenty, dare we say even thirty times the current price! His ONLY concern is that it appears the door can "accidentally" lock...as happened recently when one of the hoomans appeared to be interviewing a new employee. This clearly could be corrected by simply tearing that defective lock button out, which would guarantee Angus's participation in vetting potential new hires. Luckily, the hooman was eventually able to figure the lock out and restore operation, but it was too late this time, as the potential hiree had already left, but maybe with more training, the office people too could be trained on how to operate the lock CORRECTLY!

Just got it today and installed it, so I cannot speak to its longevity. Should it break in a short time, I will update the review. I can see the plastic door getting scratched up after a while as a distinct possibility, but frankly, how is that supposed to be prevented? We wanted one with the ability for the cats to see through, so unless you want one with an opaque swinging door, I think you are just going to have to assume that over time, the clear plastic will have visible scratches and smudges. Right now it's perfect (just installed) but I will come back with an update as to how long it took before it got scratched up (I'm just assuming it's going to happen.) Install was super easy for me, just a drill, drill bit, screwdriver and jigsaw. The thickness of my door was perfect for it, and mine are standard doors, so most people should be OK. I think these are 2 3/8" doors... I THINK! So I didn't have to cut down the plastic at all, but I can see how that would be obnoxious and hard to do, so I got lucky, but not really. Like I typed earlier, these are designed to fit standard thickness doors, and it did. I did not use the wood strip they recommend getting (not included), nor did I use double sided tape. When I cut the door, I cut it on the small side (so I thought), and it turns out it was super-duper snug but not actually too small. I was actually afraid it might be pinching it to the point where I would not be able to fit the second piece, but I got lucky and it fit so tight that I didn't bother to remove it and use the other items. I didn't see the point. If in a little while I notice it starts to get loose, I'll update, but at that point, that will be my fault, as I am admitting I didn't fully follow the instructions (yeah...lazy, I know). My only complaint, even though I am giving it five stars, is that the screws you get are soooo soft, that you want to make sure you use a screwdriver and not a power drill to install them. I barely touched the screws with the drill and it stripped the heads. I was able to salvage it and make it work, but the last 6 I put in by hand, with a screwdriver, without incident. Use the right size screwdriver too or you might have an issue. The 4-way mechanism is straightforward, seems like it will be durable (I'll update as needed), and it doesn't take a lot of effort to push it open, so even little cats and kittens can do it once they are trained. I would recommend, and I like that it comes in white because I think black on my doors would look funny.

The cat door arrived quickly. That was nice. But it was difficult to install following the instructions. Also there was wrap wood skin and double sided tape to help install it and there was none of either in the box. I do confess that I was replacing a door that the flap had been destroyed so it didn't fit exactly right, but it works. It was just difficult to make sense out of some of the instructions, but it is in place. I do like the covers that go over the screws so they would not rust from the weather. The door looks very nice, clean and white. The product is nice.

I’ve got several fosters who are BIG chonkies. Their litter room is in the basement and we use this so they can get in and out of that room and another for them to get to the catio. Even my largest girl fits through with ease. The magnets are nice and strong so the wind doesn’t push it open but the cats can get in and out with ease. Sturdy. My only complaint is it didn’t come with a template for cutting.

It is very easy to install. We installed it on a thin material with no problems. We added small cut pieces of wood on the inside between the two parts (on the protected inside). It opens and closes as advertised and works well for the small cat that it's for.

Does not seal The fuzzy edge trim (sort of a seal) comes off quickly, leaving a quite a large air gap around the door. This allows flies in. Especially if you are cooking inside and they follow the smell. Couldn't figure out why we suddenly had so many flies. This is why. Good otherwise. Don't install it near a kitchen and prepare to replace the fuzzy seal thing. I decided to replace it with a magnetic sealing door.

I installed this cat door on a board inserted into the storm window track of our porch window. I only used the front half of the cat door since the board in thinner than a door. The window connects with our second floor porch, so the cat can go outside and gaze longingly at the birds without stalking them. One feature that I didn't realize, is that you can flip the cat window all the way open, perpendicular to the board, and it stays in that position. The cat appreciates that. It closes with a small inset magnet, so swings back and forth when the cat uses it and then the magnet keeps it closed until she pushes on the window to open it. The only thing I didn't like is that it just has a bit of fuzz around the edges for insulation, so when it's cold out, you can feel a breeze. For us that's not an issue because we can just close the inside window, but our old cat door was better insulated. The actual plastic of the cat door window has wavey lines in it. Since it is quite big, they are very noticeable when you look through it. Still I am very pleased, and would buy it again. None of the drawbacks are deal breakers.

Easy to install. The cats caught on quickly. I like that there are options.

Nous avons installé cette chatière dans notre maison sur la porte du cellier pour permettre à notre chat d’entrer et sortir plus facilement sans laisser la porte ouverte constamment, et pour le moment nous en sommes contents. L’installation s’est faite assez facilement, une ouverture de la taille de la chatière et le tour est joué. Le système de fermeture à 4 positions est vraiment pratique malgré qu'on le laisse constamment en position ouverte des 2 côtés. Le fait de pouvoir choisir entre entrée et sortie uniquement, ouverture complète ou fermeture totale permet de l’adapter selon les besoins. La petite serrure est également rassurante lorsque nous voulons empêcher les sorties. La taille convient bien à notre chat et la porte s’ouvre sans difficulté. Il lui a fallu un petit temps d’adaptation au début, mais maintenant il l’utilise normalement. Bon rapport qualité-prix et produit conforme à ce que j’attendais.
