Yummy and nostalgic
My mom used to put these in our Christmas stockings, and for some reason I thought of them the other day whilst daydreaming about bygone candies (WHY must I buy $36 worth of original Tart n' Tinys when I only want a box?! I digress.). The rose and violet were always my favorites, but I decided to get this variety pack since I have a weakness for all things lemon. The lemon and mint are pretty good, but the rose is still my favorite: flowery, sweet-ish, but not too flowery or sweet. My adult taste buds finally appreciate the anise seed in the center of each mint, whereas I used to pull them out of the candies when I was a kid. This was a good price for three tins, and I'm sure I'll buy more once I eat allll of these.

Unique, delicious falvors, but be careful when eating them
I've tried the mint, rose, and lemon (also the orange and violet), and I really like them. The mint is, of course, minty, the lemon is a little unusual (in terms that it's not in hard candy form), and the rose is very delicate. I thought it would be like eating flowers, but the flavor is so delicate. I think it's my favorite. The anise seed in the core of each candy is a wonderful addition. I like finding it and eating it for the faint licorice boost. But be warned. This is a candy to slowly savor. These are not for people who like to crunch their candy. These are made of many layers, so the end result is akin to a tiny jawbreaker. They will crack any dental work you have.

Very light and not too sweet.
I like the mint flavor. Itโs a very subtle taste, unlike other mints. Though I wish it had a slightly stronger flavor. It is a hard candy similar to a mini jawbreaker.

Sweet discovery!
These make the best gifts...if you can stand to give them away! The sweet tins that the candy is in is already worth the purchase price. They are from France, same recipe since 1542, yes, 1542! And the surprise of the anise seed inside each candy piece is so unexpected, and delicious! Be careful though, the warning on the tin "do not bite", must be heeded! They are the consistency of a jaw-breaker! Savor slowly!

Expensive but nice
I am always looking for an alternative to Altoids. These aren't them but they are tasty & come in a pretty little tin. I buy them to add to gifts as they are definitely fancy. I have tried Lemon, mint, licorice & rose. My favorite is the lemon. They are not as strong as I'd like, the rose one is almost void of flavor but not in a bad way. I do NOT like the little piece of anise at the end but I tolerate it - it feels like you have a chunk of wheat in your mouth (I spent a lot of time in wheat fields as a kid). It tastes ok but is kind of an faint anise flavor...I think it's pretty cool that they have been making these for hundreds of years so I will tolerate part of that history, just don't be surprised when you have a little piece of weird at the end of your mint!

Delicious
You don't have to worry about the flavors being too strong because they are smooth and not very abrasive. I was confused about when I ate one and there was a little thing in the middle but found out it's just anise. They aren't the kind of candy you just chomp, they are almost like jaw breakers, you gotta suck of them till they get super small. I like them and everyone that tried the ones I got liked them too.

and really enjoyed the mint and lemon flavors
Tried these flavors for the first time, I'd previously only had the violet flavor, and really enjoyed the mint and lemon flavors. The mint is like any altoid or ice breaker; a nice lasting mint flavor, and the lemon was kind of like a mild lemonhead, the rose flavor was similar to the violet in that its very flowery and perfume like, if you're not accustomed to that type of flavor it can be a bit alarming at first.

Delicate little candies in pretty tins. I also purchased the 3 pack of violet, orange blossom and anise to try those flavors as well. I was pretty happy with all of them. The floral flavors: rose, violet and orange blossom are are exactly that, floral, but I didn't think overpoweringly so. If you'd be put off by the floral taste maybe avoid those ones, but that was what I was looking for. Each mint is a little smaller than a dime and these are hard mints, so no biting (there is even a warning on the side of the tins about this, lol! ) Each also has an aniseed in the center of the candy that you'll get to as the candy dissolves. The only negative I found is that I wish these were a bit smaller, but just a preference. I would definitely buy these again and would recommend these to anyone who would want to try them.
