54โ On Our 23 Foot Walkaround Has Increased Our Fluke Catch!
Only been using this for 3 weeks but have seen a significant increase in our Fluke catch on Western Long Island Sound. The 54โ slows our 23 foot Walkaroundโs drift down to that magic speed of 1 knot or so in typical windy conditions. Bought a 6 foot, 1โ wide towing strap for 7 bucks on Amazon and a large stainless locking Carabiner to attach the two. The loop on the strap fits a boat cleat well and a turn or two around the cleat adjusts the length. For a float I used a block of polyethylene foam from an old swim aid and pulled the strap through itโs slit. It all fits nicely in a 24โ X 36โ Champion Sports Mesh Sports Equipment Bag ($6). Easy to deploy. Easy to recover (pull close and grab the yellow strap and in she comes). Easy to stow. Appears sturdy and well made. Will get a lot of use out of it.

This easily controlled the boat without issue so far
After the first use with the drift sock I can say this works flawlessly. Seems to be well constructed and the stitching appears to be solid. Only time will tell, in which I will update this review in time. I have a 26 foot Robalo center console with twin outboards, so my weight loaded is about 6-7k with four adults, full tank, ice, gear, etc. This easily controlled the boat without issue so far. Comparing prices with other brands, this is much cheaper. Right now I cannot see or justify paying twice to three times the price for another brand. Updates to follow.

Not useful over 20MPH....
I was very pleased with the construction of this sock; I got the 54" for a 21' fishing boat in Alaskan waters,, and it works great to slow my drift. One complaint, it doesn't hold up when you try to get up on step with a 200HP engine. Actually, that's not fair; my 3/8" braided nylon rope broke before the sock did. So kudos to the design. As a side note, it doesn't float. Hence I am buying two more at this price; 1/3 of my local retailer.

Good To Go
Best purchase Iโve made in a while..... I like that this sock is stiff and has some weight to it, so I can throw it off the back of the boat and more or less forget about it. It starts sinking and filling pretty much immediately and is easy to retrieve via the dump line. For my purposes, I use an 8โ rope with snap links on each end and a loop tied in the middle of the rope. I attach the snap links to the transom eyes on the boat then attach the drift sock harness to the loop on the rope via another snap link. This allows me to keep the sock clear of the motor and centered on the back of the boat. In winds of 15-20 mph, my 16โ fiberglass center console maintains a perfect .4-.6 mph drift speed with a single 54โ sock.

Excellent price and quality should last a while
This thing is HUGE and I didn't realize how big it is till I opened it . I ordered this for my 21-ft mako center console which I got to try out yesterday . It works perfect for what I need which is to slow me down while I'm drifting. it cuts my speed down to half and allows my bait to stay in the zone longer. It is rated for 21 ft boat but I think it can hold a much bigger boat just fine depending on where you tie it up .. just don't forget to bring it in before you get on your way that's how I lost my last one

Sizing for Catfish Guys Drifting
So I have zero complaints about the quality of this stock, and to be honest, you're not going to find a better deal. I wanted to share my results to help others. I bought the 54โ to use for drifting. Wind was around 8 to 10MPH. My boat is an 18ft CC, 2200lbs loaded, and has a T Top. A single sock slowed my drift to 1.3 to .9 mph. I prefer to drift around .4 to .2mph. I'll be buying a second and still come out at a third of the price for a custom sock. Unless you're in a low pro boat like a jon I'd advise picking up two. You can always just toss one if you don't need both.
