Highly technical: - Ice axe with steel head offering the same performance as a classic ice axe - Pick tapered to 3 mm at the end for good penetration in ice - Curved shaft and machined grip for good handling Compact: with only 45 cm and a beveled spike, the axe can be stowed inside the pack: - Reduces the risk of injury when the axe is attached to the outside of the pack - Can be stowed inside the pack for more discretion and without risk of damaging the pack Specifications: - Compatible with the Pick and Spike Protection protectors and the Linkin leash - Certifications: CE, Uiaa - Weight: 240 g - Tempered steel - 7075 aluminum - Material: Aluminium 7075, Steel Review: It's ok but not as sharp as the longer (Glacier) version - I used this on Mount Hood in Oregon in spring., with another Petzl ice axe (Glacier), and this one did not work as good as the other one. It worked ok, as I'm still alive:) but definitely wasn't as I expected. The only reason I bought this cause it was short and I thought in certain cases it might be helpful, as the last portion of the summit is steep. But it wasn't as sharp as the other one (attaching photo both of them in my hands on the summit). So either go with another versions of this short one, which is an ice tool I guess and a bit more expensive, or go with the longer Glacier version, it's better than this!!
