I wanted to wait a little longer to write a review so I could thoroughly test the capabilities of this camera, but I felt compelled to write something now, because this camera has already proved its worth.I bought this camera on Black Friday as a present to myself. I have Nest cameras in my house, but wanted something for outside. I wanted something wireless and easy to install as I live alone and would be doing it myself and don't want visible wires. I also wanted something that offered a better plan than what Nest does. I kept coming back to this camera because it had everything I was looking for: It was wireless, had night vision, motion detection, small and inconspicuous, looked easy to install, offered a pretty good free cloud storage plan, and was fairly inexpensive. I waited till Black Friday to pull the trigger on the one camera set up to test it out. I planned to mount it to my front porch, and if I liked it enough, would buy a second for the back porch.Set up was easy and only took a few minutes. The app ran through the pairing process to the base station and the camera received great signal once I mounted it outside. I used the table/ceiling mount that Netgear offers for this camera and also purchased a silicon skin for it for a little extra protection. I'm using a Google Pixel phone and love the added security of the fingerprint sensor to open the Android app. I set the camera mode to work with my SmartThings and have it continuously running and alerting me to motion while recording 30 second clips. The camera can also be set up to work with IFTTT which opens up much more capabilities between it and other devices. One such capability is that everytime my camera senses motion, it sends a notification to a wifi-enabled desktop clock in my living room. I can sit on my couch and watch movies and will see a small notification below the television that someone is at my door. It's awesome.Video quality is very good. While it is not as clear as my Nest cameras, it is clear enough to see facial and other identifying features of whomever steps onto my porch (more on this later). Motion detection is also good, but setting that up was a bit more tricky. The default sensitivity setting is 80, but I don't know what 80 means and it is not clearly explained anywhere. I've tinkered with this number; setting it as low as 30 and slowly increasing it to 60. I'm still not 100% I've gotten it down right, but it senses what it needs to when it needs to. The viewing/motion detection area can be adjusted by pinching and zooming the screen, which is helpful because it I don't need the sidewalk in front of my home tracked since it gets a lot of traffic. I just need my steps and porch tracked. The only thing about this, however, is that however much you pinch and zoom the viewing area, that is all the camera will see. It blows up the picture which makes it grainier, and you won't be able to see the entire frame, even in live viewing. I would like to see the whole area when viewing a live feed, but only have the camera tracking a certain area of that. Once motion is detected, the camera starts recording, but it will take a couple of seconds before the recording starts, so if you have a short walkway, it will only record once that person is halfway to your door. For me, this means that I'll get videos that start once the person is already up the steps to my porch and in front of my door. It only captures them walking up if they're moving slow enough. The video recording can be set as well; the default is 10 seconds, but you can make it as much as a couple minutes. I started with one minute recordings, but eventually shortened it to 30 second clips. I did this because my camera often captures people who walk along my sidewalk, and it takes barely a second for them to come into, and leave, the camera view, but the camera will continue to record for 55 more seconds. I was getting a lot of dead video and it was shortening my battery life. I found that for my uses, 30 seconds was ample enough time to record what I needed.Despite these few small issues, I still very much love this camera because, to put it simply, it's paid for itself already. I had the camera for less than a month and it caught a thief.I have lived in my home for several years and do most of my shopping online. I literally have boxes delivered to my front porch on an almost daily basis. Most of my deliveries are left at my door and I bring them in when I get home from work. Despite having boxes laying out all day, and sometimes overnight if it's delivered after I've already fallen asleep, I have never had an issue with a stolen package. One day, though, I came home and realized I had a box taken. I stayed late at work one night and returned to a box on my porch. Once inside, however, I found out I was supposed to have gotten two boxes. I immediately checked my videofeed and saw an individual walk onto my porch, stand there for three minutes, then pick up and walk away with one of the boxes. I called the police and showed the responding officer the videos. He requested I take still shots of the video and email it to him so that he could pass it along to patrol. He warned me that they probably wouldn't catch the guy because, in cases like these, they pretty much always don't. He also said, though, that this was the first time that he's responded to one of these calls and was supplied actual video of the thief. Most times, when people have mail stolen, they can only say it was stolen. They're not able to provide a description, let alone video. I emailed the video stills and had little hope the thief would be caught. In a moment of frustration, I posted the stills to an image sharing site and described my incident. Fortunately for me, a few readers were able to make out some details in the stills that led me to a company that this person worked for. That led me to the identity of the person as well as the contact information for this person's probation officer. Two days after my theft, I was able to call the police and give them the identity and location of the thief and a warrant was put out for their arrest.I originally bought this camera simply because I love gadgets and connecting tech to other tech. I liked that this camera could connect to SmartThings and IFTTT which made it capable of connecting to many more things. I also liked being able to get notifications on my phone of exactly when my dogwalker arrived and exactly when she left. It was a fun way to keep tabs on my place. But now I also have the added bonus of peace of mind and a little justice. I can watch my house regardless of where I am. I know who exactly is standing on my porch at all times. Even when I thought they'd never catch the person who stole from me, this camera at least gave me the peace of mind of knowing that it was a stranger and not my neighbors who stole. The quality of the video and the sleuths of the internet helped me to solve a crime in less than two days!! I have since purchased a second camera that is mounted to my back porch so now my whole house is covered.I cannot speak highly enough about these cameras. Their wireless capabilities allow them to be mounted anywhere, the video quality is good enough to identify a thief, the added connection to other smart devices make them easy to control and configure, and they offer a peace of mind I didn't know I needed until I needed it. Once my subscription to Nest runs out, I will be purchasing more of these Arlos to set up in the home. I cannot recommend this camera enough.

Disappointed Disappointed Disappointed. Watch a video review of product online. Says can use external hard drive as shared recording ,recording live video and also recording in the cloud. Personally I spent a bit of money that I shouldn't have without doing research. Unit is easy enough to set up but battery life is very short. No way to output to television via USB as it said in video..Can't record to USB drive from base station. Those features were reserved for the pro versions updates.Also camera will record 7 recordings to the cloud not to exceed 1gig unless you want to fork out 100.00 a year for subscription for more or 189.00 for even more. Totally disappointed in free subscription features. Guess its another case of not reading the items description and researching thoroughly before investing in it. But over all if rating camera and connectivity to base station on another review I would give it a three star rating but overall just not the case. If you really want to have all the bells and whistles buy the pro version with the newer base station and more features such as output to an external drive and possibly a television and even talking through the camera too on the Pro version. Really don;t know what I was expecting with this first edition for the money .I tell you what ,I have a 2000 dollar security system that I cannot use because I live in an apartment complex that you can drill wire holes...thus tried this and like I said , I suppose you get what you pay for and actually use caution ,ask questions and do research that way there is no surprises...Really sux to live in apartments where you can't do what you are use to and have to do things differently....I suppose if you are happy with what I said in my review about my options and my experience then you should be fine,,UPDATE: After careful consideration and all considered...for the money you can't beat it!. Easy installation, ease of use, excellent quality camera, also love the motion sensor feature... works wonderful... Great range on wireless hookup and thinking of getting a few more of these cameras for other areas... I still wish for the other features and a little disappointed but decided the video downloading feature to your device is excellent, also the zoom feature and everything considered ,decided to give it five stars.. It to me is worth the money ..definitely great value for everything and fun.YET ANOTHER UPDATE: DISAPPOINTED AGAIN......CAMERA IS NOT WATERPROOF. WIFE WAS WATERING PLANTS LAST NIGHT AND IT GOT A LITTLE WET WHEN SHE JUST SPLASHED THE CAMERA FROM LIGHT SPRAY AND WATER GOT INSIDE THE LENSE CAUSING A SPOT ON THE INSIDE THAT CANNOT BE REMOVED BLOCKING THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PICTURE WITH WATER SPOT. ALSO TODAY .....IT STARTED SHUDDERING IN THE RECORDING LIKE A SKIPPING DVD... I AM JUST PUT OUT AND SO DISAPPOINTED ALTOGETHER ....SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THE THRILLS WOULDN'T LAST. THERE IS AN OLD SAYING "IF IT'S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, THEN IT PROBABLY IS" ....JUST FRUSTRATED AND SO DISAPPOINTED..AND NETGEAR WITH YEARS AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE CAN'T EVEN LIVE UP TO THEIR QUALITY THE NAME HAS STOOD FOR MANY YEARS.. JUST SICK AT HEART AND OUT THE MONEY I PAID FOR THIS UNIT. GUESS I SHOULD SEE IF MY APARTMENT COMPLEX WOULD GIVE ME PERMISSION TO PUT MY 2000 DOLLAR UNIT IN AND HARDWIRE EXPENSIVE CAMERAS THAT ARE TRULY WEATHER RESISTANT AND WORK IN COLOR PERFECTLY IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS.. I just got this delivered today. I ordered it because of a few odd things that have happened (and to catch the unknown neighbor leaving their dog-poop bag on my lawn) and to feel a little more secure when I'm not home. It's probably a little early for me to leave a fair and impartial review, but as of right now....I love this little camera.I did a significant amount of reviewing and searching and comparing before I made my purchase. I didn't over think but I didn't impulse buy either. I wasn't looking for some god awful ugly outdoor city street intersection design, nor was I looking for the "black dome" federal building cam. I also didn't want to run power cords over the eaves, down the molding, and through the house or be stuck with the only outdoor outlet location that I have. Wireless totally caught my eye, and if the batteries last longer than a couple months, then to me that is a huge win. That plus the sleek, adorable, sexy, slim design...ohhh-la-la!I was like a kid at Christmas when I opened the box. Included in the kit was (1) camera, (4) batteries, (1) hub, (1) power cord (1) ethernet cable, (2) magnetic mounts with screws, start up directions.I am not and IT wiz, but I can hold my own. This set up was SO easy. I will say this....I had a friend here who kept my package-opening-excitement in check. He told me "follow the directions exactly as they tell you". Ok,, I could have easily jumped and gone out of order. If I did would there have been a problem? I can't say but I did read other reviews where some had difficulty. I had none. Plug in, wait for the hub to connect to the wifi, while that was happening start my online account, sync, and away we go! I have all Apple products and I did not have any download or viewing problems or any need for add on software.For now I have the default set on "optimum" to see how the battery life does with the video quality and 80% sensitivity.Video quality. Clear, true color, and bright. There is a zoom option when viewing from my phone. Yes, in zoom at the current settings it can get a bit grainy. I wouldn't be getting this to read serial numbers on dollar bills going into a cash register, but for what I was looking for, I am impressed. I tested the night vision camera going down to the basement and I think it's great. Like I said, no serial numbers on bills, but you can definitely see what it is that your looking at. (While writing this the notification banner keeps popping up. The bugs by the porch light are doing a jig triggering the camera. I will keep this in mind when I find the best mounting place.)Currently I don't have it mounted on it is on my front porch railing (don't try to come steal it, I will see you!!!). I have a porch light and front yard pole light that are on all night. I have already checked the quality of the viewing. Porch light on or off doesn't change it much. I'm thrilled.Motion detection. As mentioned, I don't have it mounted yet and it is at mid-drift level. I don't think it is at the best location to say one way or another how well the detection is. From what I can tell already is that you have to keep in mind where it is located an what you think it will trigger. From my porch to my driveway where a car would normally park is about 25 - 30 feet and about 60 feet to the road. It might not pick up the movement of a car coming in but if someone walks up the walkway it will.I ordered the "stick" mount for it. That will be here tomorrow. Once I have that I am going to take the time to test which mount I will use and the location for the best viewing and motion detection.Notifications. I have it set up for email and banner alerts. When motion is detected, a banner alert (like a text message) will pop up (settings depending on your phone). It immediately starts the camera to record. There is a red light on the camera indicating that it has been triggered. I have it set for 120 seconds of recording time. Once it is done recording it will send you an email notification which proves a link for viewing. Since this is coming from the "cloud" it takes 2 minutes recording time plus another say 30 seconds for the email. You can view real time once the banner alerts you. It seems like there is a little lag in connecting, but I was doing it all on my home wifi at the same time. It will be interesting to see if that lag goes away when I'm away from the house on 3G or other internet.I will update this in a week or so with new findings. But as of right night I AM VERY VERY PLEASED WITH MY PURCHASE. If you are looking to solve crimes or protect Fort Knox, this might not be your best choice and I'm sure there are higher priced more technical cameras out there to buy. But you you want a good quality, modern, completely wireless FREE viewing home safety/surveillance camera for added comfort, then this is a very good buy.

Arlo is not perfect, but it is wicked close.What's Great: You can put it anywhere within range of the link/router. The alerts are reliable, if a little slow on the uptake. The picture is good. Set up was simple and worked the first time. A reasonable amount of cloud storage is free, and it's easy to download whatever you want to save. The cameras are easy to move around to wherever you need them, and you don't have to set them up again.What's Okay: A person who walks fast can get through a room almost faster than Arlo can start recording. Now, it's still much faster than an old Belkin Netcam HD, which sends pictures of where the motion WAS. Before the picture. And the D-Link 930L, which is a fine monitor cam, but has never been able to send a snap or a clip, no matter how many times it has been set up to do that. However, both of those cameras have audio and stream reasonably good images via their apps (the Belkin video resolution is way better than the Dlink). That makes them okay monitors next to smart security sensors - if the sensor alerts, you can look to see what tripped it and listen to see what's going on. Arlo will - most of the time - catch whatever set it off and let you know within seconds. And it's free, not an extra $$$ feature.What Could Be Better: The link thing is enormous. It could be a little less expensive. And it would be WONDERFUL if it integrated with Z-Wave or Smart Things. The plan here is to station the Arlo cams near other devices that send push notifications - Nest Alarms, Smanos smart sensors, etc.How It Compares: Beats the Canary I couldn't get to activate. Way better than the other netcams in the house. Love it. Just added another camera.

Overall this system works very good. It is so easy to set up that even someone with very basic knowledge with Wi Fi routers would be able to do it. The camera clarity is excellent. The range is good but not excellent. If you have a very large house and try to cover it with one system you could encounter Wi Fi signal strength issues. I am running five cameras, one outside and have no issues. But if I were to add another outside camera on the opposite end of the house from the base station, there might be a signal issue. The cameras are very easy to mount, even with the mounting system provided. I purchased optional mounts and found that I could have done quite well with the provided mounts. The motion detection and recording is excellent. The second someone comes to my front door I get an alert and it records the event for a preset amount of time. This can also be turned off. You can set cameras to record independently of each other. There are only two things that could make the system better. The first issue is sometimes it takes the system a little time to go live when selecting that command. At times it is fast and other times it is slower. But overall is works well. The other issue is programming rules. This should be simplified. The instructions are not thorough enough so you have to experiment with the setting through trial and error. Once you understand what to do it is fine. But there is a learning curve that could have been made easier with improved instructions or better software programming. That is my only two issues with the system. However, I do have an issue with the company. Three days after I had my perfectly working system up and going all functionality stopped. It was dead. I thought something went haywire with the system so I deleted everything out and started over again. It was a real pain and I thought if this happened once it was going to be an unstable system. Then I found out through posts on Twitter that the company was apologizing for down time because they were installing a revamped update to the system. In actuality there was nothing wrong with my system at all, but I went through all that trouble of reinstalling the system because of not knowing they were doing an update. I ask you folks, wouldn't it be common sense for the company to send an advance email alert notifying owners about the update and pending down time? I sure hope they do in the future. With all that said I have to say I like the system and can recommend it. Never owning a system like this I can't compare it to other systems but this system works almost perfectly for me. I can't attest to the battery life but I have had the system up and running for two weeks and still showing full batteries. It also has good clarity when it switches to "night mode". It can see in the dark with black and white images.

In the last year I had someone break into my car and throw a rock in a rear house window. I've got a dropcam for inside the house but I bought the three pack of Arlo cameras to put outside. I know you can get those great looking outdoor cameras from Costco or Sams, but I'm no electrician and have no idea how I'd wire everything up thru my house. Arlo seemed like a great solution; fully wireless with a long lasting battery. I've had the system in place for about 3 months now and here's my take on it.The cameras do work pretty well, the video is OK, not great but OK. I could recognize people in the videos so that's good. The quality isn't quite what dropcam is. On the arlo forums I read that the compression on these cameras is a bit extreme, so even though it's technically 720p because of the heavy compression the quality of the vid is actually lower, closer to 480. I'm inclined to agree It should be enough to turn over to the cops if nessisary so it meets the requirements there. Here are major problems:1) The supposed battery life of a few months is based on an average of just 4 minutes per day of recording activity. Motion capture time is set between 30 seconds up to over 1 minute. I have the activity period set at around 40 seconds. That means my wife and I leaving for work and coming back (separately) take up about 3 minutes. Add to that an errand or two and you're past your 4 minutes per day. We've got kids so if they go play outside and I don't think to manually turn off the arlo then we've used an hour or two of continuous 35 second video clips. It's been annoying even in the winter, but come summer we may occasionally drain batteries in one day. And the batteries are not cheap.2) There is usually a bit of a lag 5-10 seconds between when motion is detected and recording starts. So I'll see the UPS guy as his back is turned and he's walking away from the house, not as he walked up to the house. Same thing with the post office guy, etc. This happens quite a bit, and if I can't see who's stealing my packages then maybe this isn't the best solution3) The batteries were quite expensive. After seeing how this eats thru the batteries (I average replacing a set once every 2-3 weeks) I bought rechargeable CR123 batteries. At $6 per it was about $80 for a set of 12 to power all 3 of these guys, but at least I'm not buying new ones for $2 each all the time. Switching to some rechargeable AA batteries might have made the units a little bigger but would have been much cheaper to maintain.Sure I can schedule "off" times when the motion sensors won't trigger, and I'm going to have to get a little more aggressive in that scheduling but I shouldn't have to. What good is a security system where i have to turn off the cameras all weekend because I know my family might go out in the yard for a while. I now have to make some educated guesses on when my family will be triggering these cameras for more then a few minutes at a time. I'm certainly not going to remember to log into Arlo to turn it off every time my kids want to go outside.That being said, I'm going to keep the system for now, it's the only system I know of that doesn't require electrical knowledge or a security company coming out to install cameras for a couple thousand dollars. But if dropcam makes an outdoor version (and I can get someone to install it) and always on system is going to be so much better.

I purchased this camera due to problems I have with UPS deliveries; even with a big sign on the door "Expecting delivery, please ring doorbell" UPS will still either drop, toss or leave the box in the yard and walk off w/nary a doorbell ring!Ordered some (fortunately inexpensive) items leading up to Christmas, got a notice on my phone "Package delivered" WTH!, ran outside, looked around NO BOX! That was the last straw for me! (Long story short, the UPS driver threw the box into my neighbor's yard and when yet another delivery of my stuff to her house came, she noticed the other box sitting in her bushes all wet in the rain! CAN'T STAND UPS! AMAZON let me CHOOSE my carrier for my packages! FEDEX PLEASE!)Ordered this camera, I even liked the fact it uses batteries and was totally wireless. The setup was easy and went without issue. Recorded video is decent, even with night vision. Set the camera up out my bedroom window pointing down with a full clear view of my front yard - I was ready for my next set of UPS (mis-)deliveries to finally have video proof when a box claimed delivered never makes it into my yard!This is when all the negatives of this camera / setup started becoming exposed, causing my decision to return it.Ding #1) At one point I heard some sounds outside a bit after setup (night time) and I figured, let me fire up the app, go to "Live View" and see what was happening - opening the app and clicking the Live View button - the app spinned, Spinned and SPINNED for about 5, 10, 15 seconds when finally, I started getting live video!15+ seconds is a lifetime IMO, when trying to quickly check some sounds or noises going on around your home! The live view delay is always there, the time may vary (a bit), but its typically always more than 5-seconds.Ding #2) Unfortunately where I live, cars regularly pass down my block, so no matter how I pointed the camera (first including my yard and the street in front OR just my front yard wo/any view of the street, when cars would pass, BEEP, here comes the push alerts!This is fine and sort of what you want, BUT, there's no way, for example, to MASK out areas you don't want motion sensed - even with the camera showing only my front gate and my yard leading up to my front porch, I was still getting motion detected from the street (lights being reflected off my car in the driveway perhaps, still not really sure why.)This was actually surprising because when I put the camera in "Motion Detection" mode (after mounting the camera, 2nd floor window) for testing (a light on the camera flashes denoting detected motion), and walking around my yard, the camera appeared to hardly sense my presence while walking around unless I was like in the middle of my yard or directly under the window??Ding #3 - Final Straw) Getting annoyed with notifications due to cars passing by, I created a mode that only recorded video wo/sending alerts. Woke up the next morning with about ~90 alerts.It was interesting though to see the timings of the various videos - you can see trends of when the street became less busy etc. The one thing that was pretty consistent however was the vehicles that triggered the motion were pretty much way past my house when recorded, typically ONLY showing the tail lights of the car - that how long it takes after being triggered for the camera to start recording!I did actually catch the mail man delivering mail that morning - the video show him (ALREADY) in my yard, past the open driveway gate, placing the mail in the box and then walking out - again the recording delay didn't catch him walking past my neighbor's driveway next door and into the yard.My decision to return this camera occurred when I went out later that afternoon to visit family for the holidays. I got a single video packing up the car, I DID NOT get a video of the car pulling out the driveway as we left?? The car just disappeared!Likewise, returning home later that night, NO VIDEO of the car pulling into the driveway, but video of my wife getting out the passenger door and walking to the front door - that was it for me - RETURN!Summary - I'd imagine this camera is great if you live in a rural area without much street traffic, great for potentially catching the occasional deer, bear or crowbar toting criminal coming into your back yard etc., but without the ability of MASKING out what you don't want motion detected, leads to lots of alerts, video being recorded AND heavy battery use! (I quickly from experience over time, reduced the recording time from 30 seconds down to about 5 - 10 seconds with the camera being triggered so often in my front yard, especially when looking at the video, what triggered the camera was already gone leading to 30-seconds of perhaps just seeing leaves blowing across the lawn!)If I turn off the motion detection - does the camera even do anything at that point? Not sure, didn't test, don't care - it's packed back up and I'll post my return request shortly...

Stop searching for indoor/outdoor cameras, these are it and here's why!I tried 8 different camera brands and Arlo won. I wanted to make sure we got the right ones and I didn't want to pay for an expensive monthly service just to get a live view of my cameras. Arlo does not require you to pay for their monthly fee unless you want storage backup to view historical content, which is nice.The first set of cameras we tried were the Defender outdoor cameras CCTV - we had these backing up to a DVR which means that the cameras record footage 24/7 - even if internet is down. For outdoor cameras, that was an important feature for us, but if its not for you then the Arlo win hands down. When compared to Defender cameras, the Arlo have a much better picture quality, MUCH BETTER. The catch? You pay more for the Arlo. Since we got the Defender cameras first, I learned the hard way that I should have went with quality. Yeah, I saved $300 buying the Defender brand cameras the first time around, but I regreted it because when I viewed the cameras I could barely ascertain what was in the picture. In general I can see, but no details were noticable.We decided to get indoor cameras and for indoor cameras the Arlo are what we needed and more. Another thing I like is that if we ever decided to move them outdoor, they will work outdoor as well and we will not need to buy another camera. They run on rechargable batteries, so no need to run wires which is nice.The other indoor cameras we purchased the same time as the Arlo (and later returned) where as follows;Wainsview1. SereneLife Indoor Wireless IP Camera - HD 1080p - complete crap, did not even sync up to our internet. If it's a hassel to set up then I am moving on to the next camera. If you can't even make the set up process easy for the consumer, that sets the tone for everything else. No thanks.2. Amazon Cloud Cam Security Camera - I ordered this and then canceled it before it shipped, I was disspaointed when I read the reviews. I had high hopes since other Amazon products have been superior, not these cams. Sounds like they have some kinks to work out which they did not before they deployed to the user community. I think in the future these can improve, but here is a tip for Amazon Cam, go back to the table, kind the root cause of the issues, debug, UAT, deploy once you reach a level of quality. If Amazon worked out the issues that consumers are frustrated with then I would give it another try. Users want the ability to view their cameras LIVE without paying for a monthly service. Users also want the ability to store footage using their own storage devices, we don't want to pay for a monthly service (and the price always goes up for monthly service, always).3. Wansview Wireless 1080P Security Camera, WiFi - let me start off by giving this camera some credit, of all the cameras we tried, this one came the closest to the Arlo cameras (for indoor use only). What I loved about this cam was that it worked on WIFI and we had the option to hard wire to our home network. Another thing I loved was that it was like a robot and I could control if the camera moved up, down, left or right. I literallally had the ability to view every area of the living and kitchen without the need for multiple "fixed" view cameras. Sometime I have to put multiple cameras in a locatation so that I can get the entire view, this camera takes away that issue. Due to its flexability, you can put it in an open location and get the view of a general area which normally could require 3 fixed cameras just to get the full view. Another thing I loved is that I could change the lightness and contrast of the live feed whichw as awesome at different times of day and made the picture more clear. The last thing I LOVED about this camera was that I could use it as a 2 way voice, and a loudspeaker while I was away from home. You might be thinking, why do I need this feature? Believe me, I thought the exact same thing, until I needed it. Need to get your spouses or kids attention and they are not picking up their phone? Maybe you ordered pizza for them or have a package that needs a signature and you are watching your family on the camera while you are away and no matter how many times you call them to tell them to get the door, they cant hear you because their phones are on silent. That is when the 2 way audio speaker comes in handy, yell at them to get their attention to get the door, problem solved. I thought having a ring doorbell would make our lives easier, but, when someone is at the door and they press it, the only notification or sound to alert us, is sent to our phone via the Ring app, if you dont have your phone nearby, you will never hear any sounds that someone is at the door. So that was a problem. Anyways, after all the positive comments on this cam, why did the Arlo beat them? Simple, the Arlo application interface (phone app) is far superior, the ability to add multiple cameras much easier on Arlo. On the Wansview, I did love the camera, but we need multiple cameras in multiple areas of the house, it would not let us add the additional Wansview cameras we purchased (which is the review of camera #4 - Wansview Wireless Security Camera, 1080p). So we would have to open one app to view the Wansview cam and another app to view the other cameras, NOT REALISTIC. I want to view all my cameras on one application, with one click. I don't have time to look at Wansview cam and then open another app to view my other cameras. The user wants one place to view it all, not multiple, which means it is of high importance for the other Wansview cameras to sync up to the application without issue. When we got the other camera4. Wansview Wireless Security Camera, 1080p - nothing but problems trying to add them to the Wansview app. That is what blew it for Wansview. If you need just one camera, this one would work, but if you need more than one, that is the issue. Sad this one didnt work out.5. ISEEBELL Home Camera, Wi-Fi IP Indoor Security - the review for this one is more simple, Postive: Great Picture - Negative: Terrible App interface which continuously crashed and made it impossible to reply out. We returned them not because the picture quality was poor, but because the app to view the live feed completely sucked. Note to the manufacturer, the usability of the phone application which is used to view the live camera feed is just as important as the camera quality. Do not deploy your products to the market until the phone application kinks are worked out. Also, they did not offer a way to view live feeds online. When I am at work, I like to open a browser to view my life camera feed, I don't want to have to open my phone app each time when I have a desktop browser open. Many of these camera brands wont or dont have an option to do this. Guess who does? Arlo! Yes, Arlo has an awesome site, which I love, that allows me to view all my cameras from my laptop via my chrome browser. I love this feature!6. Fsmart wireless Indoor Home Camera Video - Positive: Great Picture, impressed with the picture for how cheap these are. They let you add a card to store video footage, HUGE cost savings which allows you to backup footage and doesn't require a monthly service fee (Arlo does not have this feature and that is a huge disappointment and area of improvement for Arlo to consider).7. Defender outdoor cameras - Positive: they work even when the internet is down and you can backup a month of 24/7 footage on the DVR that comes with the 8 camera package - no monthly service fees. Negative: Picture sucks bad and so does the phone app, the phone app seems like they put zero investment in improving, big let down.8. Arlo by Netgear indoor/outdoor cameras - The winner after comparing all of the above options. Why? Overall the two main important features was to have a good picture and reliable use of the phone app. The app has not crashed and is user friendly. The picture is clear and I love that. However, there is room for improvement and I hope Arlo listens to this advice. The camera market is getting competitive, so if you dont consider this advice, it might come back to bite you later on.Areas of improvement for Arlo:1. user wants the ability to insert SD card so they can backup certain amounts of footage without having to pay for your expensive monthly service2. user wants the ability to use some of the cameras as a 2 way radio - loudspeaker3. develop some cameras which have the ability to move, instead of all cams being fixed view. The user wants to have the option to at least move one camera up, down, left, right and have the camera use the same arlo application interface. Would be nice to have a camera with this option.4. Just invent an Arlo "ring" style doorbell - I will buy it. Ring irritates me bc I have to open their app and I dont want another app on my phone which is already at space capacity. Just get a doorbell and integrate that into the app interface so that when I check my house cameras I can see the front door cam. Would be nice.

I wasn't sure what to expect after having set up a couple of different camera systems for my home in the past. But the Arlo system is incredibly simple to get going, no complicated steps or having to find additional information anywhere. Video quality is great for the price range.The app is easy to use and works great. There are different levels of plans, but the free plan does everything I want it to do so far, so this has been a great investment, especially on sale. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a relatively inexpensive home security system without having to wire things through the house.The couple little annoyances I have found is that there doesn't seem to be a way to specify an area of the view range to detect motion in. So wherever you have it pointed, it will notify you every single time there's movement in the frame. I have 2 cameras that I would like to keep an eye on the front of my house, and I've tried to position them to avoid the street and sidewalk, but there are small areas in the corners of the frame that cars or people may walk through, so there's a lot more recording happening than I would prefer. The other thing that I wasn't super thrilled with is the notification system; I want to get notified of the motion sensor being triggered, but if you have push notifications enabled, you will get the push notification as well as an email. I have blocked the alert email address because it was driving me nuts. So now I just get the push notifications. But because of the other issue I just mentioned, every time there's the tiniest motion detected, it sends a notification. If you were able to specify which part(s) of the view to detect motion in, it would solve both issues.Anyway, otherwise I think they're great and can't wait to see how they hold up in -30 degree weather.

Buena calidad y muy buen funcionamiento. Es el segundo sistema que adquiero. Tengo mas de un año con el primero, las cámaras en interior y exterior y funciona muy bien. La aplicación celular es algo confusa, pero funcional. Una cámara se me cayó de mas de 2 metros de alto y sigue funcionanando muy bien.El unico tema es el consumo de baterias, que son del litio y. Son muy costosas. Con uso bajo/moderado se consumen entre 6 y 8 meses. Una solución recargable es necesaria!

Las uso tanto en interior como en exterior y son muy buenas!

Have owned the product for a little over a month. Bought the 3 camera system; I'm enjoying the novelty still, and it's nice to get notifications when motion is detected. Scheduling and motion detection adjustments are great features. Video quality is superb, and battery life is decent considering the schedule I've got running.I do think the base unit could use a signal boost for the range. At 30ish ft out, my furthest camera is at one bar, and buffers frequently. Perhaps the upgraded models have a better base station? Either way, I'm still happy with this purchase and would recommend.

Horrible cameras... the entire system is made for small houses or houses without brick walls. Problems: (1) Cameras lose connection with the base even when the base is merely 9 meters away. (2) One of the camera developed a pink tint in the display with one week of use. (3) The motion detection is also weak and you miss half the event in the recorded video. (4) The base needs to be wired to the router so if your router is far from the cameras then the base will also be far and create difficulty in connection.
