Amazing Read!
I was interested in learning about Jungian Psychology as a student of astrology and yoga. I was looking for a book that was scholarly but not dry and complicated. Robertson's book is exactly what I was looking for! It is engaging, clear, and makes the topic totally accessible on every level. I also like that the author's honestly when approaching the subject. This book is awesome. Just get it.

A good introduction and a excellent read
For a person who is not into reading introductory materials written at the same level of the one being introduced, yet who wants an accurate, substantial presentation that is quite readable, I believe this book is for them. I have read bits and pieces of Jung and of what others had to say about Jung in addition to reading extensively Joseph Campbell, and I find this book very benificial in uniting and presenting coherently what is essential to Jungian psychology - and in helping me to have a better understanding of Joseph Campbell as well.I am currently reading the Portable Jung and I do find this introductory book very beneficial to understanding Jung's writings.Since Jung was a follower of Freud for awhile and since he did accept much of Freud's teaching, I feel it would behove anyone to read some introductory material or primer on Freud. Don't have to agree with or accept all of Freud's teachings, but an undestanding of him will certainly help one to have an understanding of Jung.

Enjoyable and understandable
I am familiar with Carl Jung and his work and wanted something less complicated and more reader friendly. This book was extremely helpful, detailed but not overly burdened with vocabulary that was beyond my understanding. Easy and enjoyable. Some depth but not over burdening to send me running in search of a dictionary.

Excellent and sophisticated introduction to Jung
I’ve been an armchair Jungian for years, fascinated by what I knew but not really well-versed. I’m still an armchair Jungian, but I have so much more understanding.

A fine beginning!
Here's a rarity among introductory books about Jung & his thought: clear, easy to read & follow, setting forth the basic ideas in ways which are easy to grasp ... all without dumbing down the material in any way. What Robertson does is provide the beginner with the overall feel of Jungian thought, sketching out the basic outlines & providing straightforward examples. Other books go into greater detail, of course, but a beginner could do far worse than start with this fine volume. Robertson's humane & humanist heart beats strongly in every page, and he's good company for what should be an ongoing & enriching journey into the Psyche. Recommended!(For anyone concerned about the negative reviews, while some do raise fair objections & concerns, feel free to ignore those with an obvious ax to grind. A reading of Deirdre Bair's new biography of Jung will provide an honest & far more accurate picture of Jung's life & personality.)

Guide to Jung
Good introductory book to Jung. Good explanations of the personality types and the concept of collective unconscious. The latter is the most unique among psychology theories. I personally think of this idea as akin to fixed action patterns in animals. I.E. it is hard wired in our "operating systems" so to speak. Not quite what Jung thought but a possible interpretation.

Terrific starting point for Jung-curious readers
I wanted an introduction to Jung that was easy to read, but without being dumbed-down or patronizing. This book delivers that in spades: It covers some of Jung’s core teachings in a way that the regular audience can easily digest – and even apply to our own lives.Despite being published in the early 90s, it still reads as fresh and highly relevant today.
