But it doesn't work, and now two men are bewitched andbefuddled by the sad, repressed Solange.Ultimately only a love affair with a 13 year old boy - who in many ways is the most mature character inthe film - gives her joy.Transgressive, uncomfortable, surreal and tweaking both sides of the war of the sexes equally; men are foolswho can only look at women through a narrow prism, and women are complex and weird to the point ofabsurdity, this is a film that makes me laugh and cringe (in a good way) in equal measure.

This French gem is a most charming film and Carole Laure, a Québécoise actress, is a perfect joy to behold, she is bliss incarnate!

I purchased a copy of this DVD from an Amazon affiliated seller. It was in PAL format although the specs indicated"All Regions". It wouldn't play at all on my system. It only works in England. The other version with the blue cover is "USA Region 1" but it's G rated (?) and only in French. I can't understand why Amazon USA sells DVDs in both foreign and American formats. It's confusing and misleading.

Ceci est un film enchantant et Carole Laure, qui vient du Québec, est simplement adorable - une pure joie à voir. This is an enchanting film and Carole Laure, who comes from Québec, is simply adorable - a sheer joy to behold.

"Preparez vos mouchoirs" (deutscher Titel: "Frau zu verschenken") bekam einen OSCAR als bester ausl. Spielfilm. Leider ist auf dieser, der einzigen lieferbaren, DVD, "nur" die franz. Original-Fassung zu finden. Schade! Aber mit deutscher oder englischer Tonspur gibt es leider keinen Anbieter.

Ein unglaublich fantasievoller, und auch etwas skurriler Film, typiquement Francais eben, der sogar einen Oscar gewonnen hat; das will bei den sonst eher prüden Amis was heißen. Depardieu als junger Mann - mit großer Intensität. Ein Ohrenschmaus auch das Mozart-Klarinettenkonzert!

This is timeless! It won an Oscar in 1979 and, after all those years, it has not lost its charm and its wit. Still funny, still sharp, still brilliant.A must-see.

Moi qui suis une grande cinéphile, j'avoue que ce film fait partie de mes films préférés, les dialogues et les acteurs sont merveilleux.
