Xgen 2.1x Digital Night Vision Viewer

If your looking for something to see across a room or patients when they are sleeping this is the best product that I have come across. It is adjustable to see focus in and out. First class, and the price is very very good. Can not say enough about how good it is. Thank you.

This Night Owl Optics "XGEN 2X Digital Night Vision Monocular" is a good value for a very functional, low-end night vision monocular. The monocular is very small and lightweight, making it perfect for camping or adding to a "Bug Out Bag". The optical quality is better than expected and the IR emitter does a nice job lighting up a dark room. The unit has two lenses, each with a focus that must be set in conjunction to optimize the picture clarity. The unit also has a "mode" setting that adjusts the IR emitter power and frame-rate to get the best performance for the operating environment. The included "pleather" carrying case is functional, but nothing special. I very much like that it takes standard three standard AA batteries (not included), which are always easy to get. This is not a high-end unit, but it is not priced like one either. Recommended! CFH

Scope is small and light; a bit awkward to focus, but it focuses well. The image is well defined in very low light. Sighting through an open window can be problematic since the built-in light can reflect off the window casing and overpower the image tube. Inside a home it works very well and I could read my 6 inch wall clock very easily in total darkness (self illumination by the scope, that can not be turned off). A hand strap would be very useful as the hand-held image can shake in your hand. I will also equip it for use on a tripod. For less than $100, I don't think it can be beat. P.S. it can see stars in the dark sky; a bit blurry, but it is not really designed for astronomy.

This device I bought failed after 30 minutes of use total time. The display developed vertical lines and then would turn all white. After resetting it by turning it off and on there would be dancing or vertical lines on the display. Obviously a loose connection because tapping it lightly corrected the display momentarily. This device is an complete failure and just completely died the night. I wrote this review. As an electronics tech, I decided to open this up. I discovered numerous assembly faults. This is something I should not have to do if you take the adventure of opening this device using a magnetic screwdriver because the screws are extremely tiny. The ribbon cable during assembly was not properly inserted to the connector. The second flaw is the ribbon cable was bent so the connection was kinked . This is something I am unable to fix without a part from the manufacturer. I will not buy a digital night vision device from this company. I have an old analog night visionthat is 25 years old with Russian tubes made by the this company. It has been flawless. If I can get my money back, that would be nice or a free replacement because I threw this one in the garbage were it belongs.

The kids had an amazing party at night pretending to be bond spy's. For the adult kids we had this. So cool. Used to play games at this party but we left it in the hands of the host who loves it!! It works in the dark so amazingly well. Will buy again for another host of the upcoming party we are attending. The perfect gift. Too cool. T

It looks good and does work but what you see in the dark looks more or less very blurry. The field of view is very limited and it is difficult to distinguish anything clearly. My test lasted about 10 minutes so my review will be equally brief. Everything was very fuzzy even when the unit was adjusted . Viewing through the unit was also very uncomfortable. To be fair, I am not usually thrilled with looking through binoculars so looking through a monocular type device was even more uncomfortable. The time I spent looking around my back yard, I had a hard time identifying a large white canoe stored towards the back edge of the yard. I could identify some of the trees as trees but smaller things were too unclear to identify. Perhaps my expectations were too great but I believe a $1 flashlight would be a better choice and you could save your money for better things.

We have a bear that likes to come into the yard and forage. We’ve lost a couple of chickens to it and didn’t want to lose the dog, so we needed something to see around the yard at night when we let her out. I’ve come too close to the bear and didn’t want to chance a bad encounter, so I got this. First, it’s an excellent picture. There are two focuses on either end and it dials it in perfect. Even with low light, like the motion sensor outdoor light coming on behind me or bright moonlight, you still have a clear picture. It doesn’t blind when light flashes across it, like headlights might on other units. The only complaint I have is the field of vision is small. I need to see bears clear and quickly and you need to be slow and steady with this. Granted, I could get a wider view with a much more expensive unit, but this is the best for the money. I’ve used other night vision years ago in the military and it was a narrow field, too. This is very similar to what we had in the 90’s in Iraq in my opinion. The one picture is a deer photobombing my neighbors truck about 70 yards away. The deer is 15-20 yards away, so you can see close and far together pretty well. The other is an individual closing the shed door about 20 yards away from me. I took both with my camera phone held up to it, but that’s pretty true to size. It would be perfect if I was just out casually looking at night stuff. If I turn it 45°, it helps widen the field. Probably with a little more practice, I’ll be more steady and comfortable with it. It has 5 settings that you change with the power button on top. I didn’t notice much difference between them when testing it, but I didn’t vary the conditions I was trying it in. I’d probably get it again. For the money, it’s a great value.

Light up the night. Have unwanted people or animals lurking around at night. Get this product and get the drop on them, stop unwanted snoopers and priers by being the first to detect and report them. Also a fun little tool for any one who spends most of their time up throughout the night

Für die umgehende Lieferung gibt es schon einmal einen Stern. Es war meine erste Erfahrung mit einem Nachtsichtgerät überhaupt. Graustufen mit unerwarteter Auflösung innerhalb der 70 m-Distanz. Sehr gut! Deutsche Anleitung vorhanden, allerdings sollte die Batteriebestückung sorgfältig erfolgen. Das Einprägen der +/- Kennung wäre da hilfreich. Insgesamt kann das Gerät bestens empfohlen werden.

I bought this as a present for a friend so only got to use it once. It was great.

I have to be honest, this is one of those things I didn't at ALL need, but it is far too cool to not have. Simply, it works. I'm impressed! There is a little digital screen that seemingly has some control options (with which I haven't yet fully oriented myself), and has a brilliant display. There is a wide allowance for the focus, also. This monocular functions flawlessly in low-light settings, through to pitch-black darkness (the darker, the better, because of the infrared). Great gear to have, because you never know when you might need to see in the dark without the attention (or irritation) of a bright flashlight.

My daughter and myself use it just to play around. It's OK for the price.
