What happens if the human touch it when the rat killer is working?

You understand that there is a 7,000 volt charge that will hit you if you put your hand inside the trap near the peanut butter. That is how it was designed and how it works. You should always turn the trap OFF before cleaning the trap, re-baiting it, etc. BTW, that 7,000 volt charge will last about two minutes so that you know the rodent will not restart its heart beat. All of this is in the instructions that come with the EBUNG. The VICTOR trap charge is instantaneous, but the rodent will (and did ) recover from the shock, ate the peanut butter and left a deposit. That is why I bought the EBUNG.

Does it create a burnt hair smell when something is in it?

I have my trap placed outside near my truck (to prevent rats from living in my engine compartment). I check the trap each morning, and if needed, dump out the dead rat and put back under the truck. I have not noticed any bad smells doing this. I cannot speak to whether there are unpleasant aromas if using the trap indoors.

Staying shocking mode without anything in it

If you turn it on and you see the light on, then it is on and will shock yuk ou or anyone that sticks their hand on it

What is the warranty for this product?

Did not note any warranty information but the trap works great. Took care of two attic rats.
