My expectations for a case this cheap were pretty low, and have since been exceeded by a considerable margin. The front cover is somewhat comparable to an Apple Smart Cover, and the back plastic shell is very pleasant to the touch. Fits onto the iPad with a satisfying click, and doesn’t move around once it’s on. Also doesn’t block the ports or buttons. Despite the five-star review, the case isn’t perfect. There are a few minor things that could be improved. First of all, the magnet that keeps the cover in place when folded towards the back of the case doesn’t always work. Secondly, while the cutouts are aligned enough to be functional, not all of them are perfectly centered. The most obvious example of this is the microphone hole, which quite off-center. Ultimately, however, if you’re after a cheap case that will do the job (provided you have realistic expectations), you should definitely buy this case.

Have owned the ESR Smart Case for my family iPads (5). Product is amazing - fits perfect and the “auto off” when closed always works. Now for the best - ESR’s product warranty is outstanding. One on my cases started to “chip” at a “button opening”. I emailed the company with a picture of the “cracking”. Within one week I received a free replacement. What? Who does this! Well ESR does! Love this company and will use them for all future electronic case purchases. Thank you ESR!

I like this case, it’s slim and sleek however I do want to note that I’m pretty sure it will not be that durable. The fold up stand is pretty reliable and for the price it’s a great deal.

I just received the smart case today. It was easy to install, it fits well, it seems to provide adequate protection, the iPad goes to sleep when the cover is closed. The rear cover covers the buttons with tactile button, and the buttons are as easy to push as if they were not covered. That's all I wanted in the product and it was inexpensive. I obviously can't rate durability.

Our whole family uses ESR cases, so when my son got a new iPad, we bought this case for him. The case is easy to put on and fits quite securely. He has a screen protector on his iPad but it still fits well. I was worried that the color would get dirty easily but so far it is doing great. As with the rest of their products, the price is very reasonable, especially considering the quality. We’ve used ESR products for years without issue, and we’ll likely buy from them again.

The biggest issue is that the case is not properly aligned with the iPad. The problem is not visible and the iPad fits securely. However, the slight alignment problem causes two issues. 1) The volume down button does not work well. 2) The screen occasionally doesn't register touches. I know both of these issues are caused by the case because they never happen when the iPad is used outside the case.

Bought this case about a month ago and at first thought it was a great case. A month later the corners are cracking and it doesn’t hold my iPad secure. I have not dropped my iPad or the case, just a poorly made case. I guess you get what you pay for!Update: Manufacturer provided new case free of charge, which I appreciate. So far it seems to be working well, we will see how it holds up.

It's made well, lightweight, the back is semi-clear (I get to see the apple logo) and the big one: there's no sharp edges to cut into my fingers when I'm holding it for an extended period of time. I had my doubts because of the price but this thing turned out to be perfect and precisely what I was wanting.
