If you're looking to clean your vinyl but don't have a lot of cash to spend, then this record cleaner is the way to go! It works quite well and I'm extremely happy with my purchase.The self-contained unit is nice and sturdy. When closed, the top of the unit pulls up and off. The bottom portion is used as a basin to clean the records. In conjunction with the easy to install rollers you can easily (hand) 'spin clean' your records. The top portion flips over and is used as an air drying rack.The set comes with two small bottles of cleaning fluid and although I prefer to use my own cleaning mix, the included solution actually isn't bad. When all was said and done, I've got a decent collection to clean (about 80 albums and thirty 45's) and I couldn't afford to spend a lot (as much as $500!!) to clean them. This unit had some good reviews and was reasonably priced so I gave it a shot. So far, so good. It gets to be a bit much if you've got a decent amount of records to clean, but other than that, I highly recommend this unit.There are other cleaners similar to this one here on Amazon, but, according to customer reviews, they didn't seem to be as good as this one, especially for the price (I paid just over $50/free shipping). Some of the others were cheaper and some were more expensive, but, none seemed to compare.Now that I have it and now that I've used it, I can honestly say I am very happy with my purchase.NOTE: I have yet to clean any 180g records with this unit.Also, either pre-wash or toss the microfiber cloths included in the box.

My partner decided that this is the best cleaner kit he has used. As a pro collector, and also grades vinyl for a shop, he’s tried most of the ‘manual style bath n spin’ cleaning kits.Pros: Great price. Same parts as the more expensive leading kits. Easy to use. Smart storage design, feels much sturdier than others, and the bonus drying rack is a must have for the bulk record cleaning. It also works well as a pre & post bath stage for records that are cleaned ultrasonically, which will help save on refilling dirty baths in the ultrasonic as frequently. Cleaning fluid works great, used 3/4 of one bottle for 2 cleaner troth refills. Cleaned 60 45s & 20 LPs. Record playback was much improved especially for 50 year old 45s. Near mint and new stock played perfectly. The key to success with this product is : Take your time while loading, spinning and unloading records, pat dry, set on rack til completely dry, and repeat.Cons. There is more cleaner pad tightness when spinning with some records, more so than others, and many records vary on thickness Overall it’s tighter than most kits, but dose the job better, than other products out there. Some people find this concerning especially with 180 gram records. Due to worry of damage and parts popping away or out. Didn’t experience any damage to records or kit part issues during the spinning process. 200 grams are TOO thick to spin for this unit.The microfiber cloth is a bit linty so be aware. After a few dozen records the lint decreases entirely, patting records dry with it.Overall: For the Pro or the beginner collector it a smart purchase.

I was excited to get this. I get a lot of records from the local thrift stores and many of them are really cruddy. My go-to method has been to coat each side with wood glue then peel it off when dry. This always removes every last trace of dirt but it takes a long time to do and uses a lot of glue. Was looking for something quicker that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. This is way quicker but not as effective.First off, if you are thinking of getting the nearly twice as expensive plastic yellow cleaner think again. This product is virtually the same in terms of build and functionality. In it’s favor is the fact that it comes with TWO bottles of cleaner instead of one. Also in its favor is the drying rack which, frankly, I don’t see how you can even use this without one, I mean, you have a damp record that needs drying, what are you supposed to do with it?The only downside when compared to the other, more popular product is the color. Black is probably a more aesthetically pleasing color than yellow when sitting out in the room but it makes it almost impossible to know when your solution has become too dirty to keep using. With yellow you can easily see the cleaning solution. With black, it’s just a dark slot and it’s not until you pour out the solution that you see what’s happened.As to the quality of the cleaning, I really expected better than I got. The first record I tried cleaning was one that had been stored improperly causing dusty, powdery light colored mildew to form on part of one side. After I cleaned it all the debris was gone, but when I played it the stylus dug so much crud out of the grooves that it actually started skating across the surface of the record! Obviously the record wasn’t nearly as clean as I’d thought.I’ve processed records that had fingerprints on them only to see the prints were still visible after they dried.As a test I took a record that was absolutely crackly with dirt and cleaned one side with wood glue then cleaned the entire record using this. Both sides were much better but the side I used the glue on was quieter.Bottom line - this is a better deal than the more expensive cleaner, but it’s not going to get everything. For that you need wood glue, or one of those really expensive untrasonic cleaners.One caveat, the manufacturers specifies to use distilled water. I have a Berkey water filter that removes %99.3 percent of everything from the water, even food coloring, so I’ve been using water from that. I can’t imagine the .07 percentage of whatever remains in our water after such filtering would make a difference but to be sure I’m going to buy some distilled water and give it a shot.

After having this thing for 6+ months and cleaning about 100 records, I wanted to update my recommendation -- it's not a pretty good value; it's a great value.As I said in my previous note (below), I had been washing my records, and, again, thought I had been doing a good job. Now, when I pour the cleaning solution and water out at the end of a cleaning session, I'm amazed at the dingy water I see. Remember, this is AFTER I had already hand-washed them.There's also the satisfaction of cleaning the records yourself, and then admiring your handiwork. The records look like new, and play quietly with all the original musical dynamics restored.PREVIOUS COMMENT:I had been washing my LPs by hand, and thought I was doing a pretty good job. Then I looked at record washing devices, and this one was the cheapest I found. My thinking was that, if the thing didn't really do better than my hand-washing, then I wouldn't be out much money.OK, used it the first time today, and I'm impressed. The six records that I cleaned look great -- better than my previous process. It's easy to use, and I cleaned one 180-gram LP just to see if it was much harder. Not really.As I said, I think it's a pretty good value.

Recently retired, I've set up my stereo system to play my vinyl albums. I also had a group of ~40 forty-five rpm singles that had been in a paper bag and were stored in various garages through various moves over 5+ decades. I tried one and it sounded like garbage, the music hardly audible over the excessive noise. I purchased the Knox Gear Vinyl Record Cleaning Kit to see if there was any hope for these extremelydirty records. The instructions and set-up were quite simple and the difference after cleaning them is INCREDIBLE. They do have noticeable background noise during quiet sections, but are now listenable once again. I'll be using it on some of my lp's and unless something crazy happens cleaning them, I'd fully recommend this vinyl record cleaner.

When I first got it, it was just completely missing the fluid (and I think one of the rags?). Luckily I was refunded and got some other fluid that works well. Took a week or two to actually have all the components.As for how it actually works, it’s works good. It’s no miracle worker, but any records that play fine except for some distracting surface noise it will really improve the listening experience. Of course it can’t fix scratches or anything like that but for what it can do it does it really well.Would recommend for the price. With this, you’re getting a budget way to improve the fidelity of most any functioning (but noisy) record.

Is it perfect? no, but it has the same rollers, same cleaning pads, and the same design as the yellow one and also includes a built-in drying rack. I have used it for 200-300 records so far and the rollers are still intact undamaged. The cotton lint free cloth that is included has never left lent on the record but I don't wash it with my clothes I just wash it out and hang it to dry in the laundry room. After cleaning lay the record on a lint-free cloth and wipe it in a circular motion to remove the water flip and do the other side then set it in the rack to dry. yes, It is hard to turn with thick records but you can't warp your records unless you are using HOT water which you should not be doing and since it is the same design as the yellow one how will that one be different? This is not an automatic machine, it does involve some effort and common sense but it does work well. if you have a 10,000 turntable and you want perfect records go right to the 500. sonic cleaner otherwise this is fine.

This is a good, inexpensive option that will work great for most people if the go in with the right expectations and use it according to the instructions.I had some unusually dirty old records, with decades of smoke buildup and other grime. I don't know if they'd ever seen water before in their lifetime. I had to run them through a few times before I was satisfied with the results.They say you can clean 25 records with one batch of distilled water/cleaning fluid, but I had to change it far more often. If you have fairly dirty records, be prepared to do multiple changes of the water and multiple passes. Now, I do maintenance cleaning and I can get closer to the stated 25 records per batch. If you don't use distilled water or if you overuse the batch, you can end up with residue when the records dry. This is likely the cleanest you're going to get your records unless you use an ultrasonic system or a vacuum systemThe unit is well designed, and the rack fits right into the unit when it's not in use. The lid works well for closing it up between uses. The terrycloth towel only shed lint at first. After one wash, it's great. The other microfiber cloth also worked well. The only way this could be better is if it spun the record for you, but if it did then it wouldn't be in this price range.

We are building our vinyl collection and spent a few weekends cleaning our albums. We were surprised to see how dirty the water was between changes. It did make a difference with static and even fixed some skips.The process did go a lot quicker with 2 of us doing it.

Easy enough to use, although thicker 180g vinyl are a pretty tight squeeze. The drying rack is a nice bonus, and I love how it slides out from the bottom of the tray, and it's nice to have the lid to keep the dust out while it's stored.My only complaint is the white microfiber towel that was packaged with it for drying the records. Took it out of it's packaging, gave it a couple shakes just to make sure, and sure enough, it shed white fluff all over the place. It would have left my vinyl covered in lint if I had used it. Luckily I have a few extra lint free micro fiber towels for auto detailing I haven't used before that got the job done.

I've cleaned over 700 records with this device. My only issue is that it doesn't handle the 180G vinyl so well. It requires much more effort to spin the records and the spindles at each end of the fluid reservoir want to jump out. Aside from that, it does it what it's designed to do. Overall I'm please with it but an Ultrasonic cleaner would be the ultimate cleaning experience if you have the disposable cash to invest in one.

I have been cleaning vinyl records that were stored for 50 yrs. the unit has exceeded my expectations.

Disappointed that some of the cleaning solution had leaked out before the parcel arrived. But it does a good cleaning job.
