Sergeant York - loosely based on a true story.
Alvin York only agreed to have the movie made if Gary Cooper could play the part. Sergeant York was the most decorated American soldier of WW1.I have always enjoyed this movie. Great story of the time.The tragedy of the story of Alvin York is that when he died, he was bankrupt and had lost everything. He remained a pacifist and argued against going to war in WW2. (This is not reflected in the movie).
