I love my vermihut towers! I have never had enough leachate to need (or be able to) use the spigot, but every other aspect works perfectly. I have several and have used them for years. They have never broken. The base does not leak. No odor. No bugs. Great indoor tower. My stack- top bin1- empty ( i use this bin to put other bins on when i deconstruct my towers so i don't smush worms.) Bin2- feeding bin Bin3- old feeding bin, finishing up and worms leaving to go up Bin4- even older finishing bin. This bin is harvested next time the tower is cycled. (I skip this one if i only have 5 bins) Bin5- new bin filled with new damp bedding. It is being inoculated with the microscopic life worms need to live. Bin6- older new bin. This will be my new feeding bin when the tower cycles. The tower cycles about every two months.

I'd first like to address some of the 1-star reviews mostly complaining about the gaps. If you do this right and read the instructions carefully. The gaps were a concern for me at first too, but if you create the right conditions, the worms are not wanting to escape. Yes, some will escape (I've counted about 10 in the past 8 months.) This has been one of my most fun, but also laid back projects in the past year. I highly recommend ordering extra coconut coir bricks for when adding each tray. Don't overfeed the guys and honestly I only add vegeble scraps about once a week on average. I got lazy and dont chop the scraps anymore, I let them do the work. To avoid gnats/fruitflys, I filled the top tray with coconut coir and paper scraps and started adding food from the 2nd tray from the top. The one thing I realized I couldn't be lazy about is clearing out the reservoir and bottom tray. the bottom tray will eventually turn into a very wet mud (the worm poop) and should be handled carefully. It will get heavy, so recommend having another person assist with moving the entire kit or it may get messy. It's not rocket sciene, but reading the manual and doing google searches could help to having a good time with it.

Easy to set up, I think, if I am doing it right. I have it in my house since it’s cold outside. So far, no smell and not too much mess. Ok so I’ve had this for only 10 weeks so maybe l am not patient enough, but I am not seeing how this works. I stopped using the V board because the worms would crawl on top of it. The “board” was hard to remove with them stuck between the V board and the lid. I didn’t want to injure them. Then they would crawl around on the inside of the lid, making babies, dropping castings, and making a mess when the lid was removed. I read someone does not use the lid, and read someone else uses the worm blanket. So now I am trying that with a light on all the time. This seems to work better. Most of the bedding and food in the first bin seemed to be consumed, so I am working on the second bin. It does not stack on top of the first bin like it shows in the product photo. The second bin is heavy enough it is smashing down the soil, castings, and worms in the first bin. When I lift it to see what’s going on, a lot of worms appear to be struggling to free themselves from being crushed. I guess I better try and remove them. Why don’t they crawl up through the holes where the food is? I hate to see how they are when I put another tray on top of the second. Been doing a lot of research but it’s all very confusing. Update: This is a learning experience, and there is quite a bit of conflicting information on the internet. I decided it depends on what is good for the worms and what works for the person giving (and selling) the information. I was not comfortable with squishing my worms (they can probably handle it, but I can't...haha), so I found some strong wire baskets that are the perfect size to support each tray when stacked on top of each other. I have enough bedding in each tray that they are full enough for worms to travel back and forth through the holes. They have plenty of room now to multiply and hopefully be happy. So far, they seem to be. I am not concerned about the gaps between trays since I have a floor lamp on all the time. I also decided to keep the lid on to retain moisture. If they want to crawl around in it, fine. There is not so much moisture that it produces leachate. I read that a well maintained worm bin does not produce leachate. The bottom collection tray is probably not needed.

I watched the “Vermicompost learned by doing” YouTube videos that are posted in this Amazon product page. I use this gentleman’s strategy with the Vermihut. The worms came from uncle Jim’s worm farm also on Amazon. I think the setup works great. It’s easy to assemble, use, and clean. It sits on a desk in the sunroom. it hasn’t attracted any bugs (knock on wood). I tossed the bedding and feed the worms once a week. They seem to be doing very well.

This is a great set to get you started. I went and stopped by the local fuel station and bought some red wigglers for fishing, I'm not spending 50 bucks for a bag of worms,it would be too many for these trays anyway. I'm learning with the worms, they're fat, happy and healthy. It comes with coco coir, instructions, advice, and all the tools you need to succeed and successfully breed your own worms for the garden, fishing, soil health or just composting your kitchen waste. It helps you troubleshoot, gives insights on common issues, I'm very happy that I made this purchase, and look forward to vermicomposting for the rest of my life. Highly recommend 🪱

I purchased my first Vermihut approximately 19-months ago when I was brand new to worm composting, a.k.a. Vermicomposting. Prior to purchasing my first Vermicomposting system, I reviewed several worm composting bins and decided on the Vermihut Plus 5-tray Worm Composting Bin System. The instructions regarding set-up were very easy to follow. I set up my Vermihut, I added my worms and they instantly took to their new home. They wasted no time laying worm castings down. I was so happy with the results of my Vermihut Plus, I obtained a second system, to double my Vermicomposting capacity. My worms have never been happier working for food. They eat, poop and multiply, exactly what you want in a composting system. My worms provide me with high nutrient worm castings, which make my garden vegetables grow bigger, faster and healthier. It’s the only way to grow and it’s all organic. Moreover, it keeps pests at bay too. Happy and healthy soil doesn’t get sick. Sick soil lures in pests, which is not an issue when you have a Vermihut Plus because you will always have rich, dark, healthy worm castings available to keep your soil happy and healthy. Therefore, I highly, highly, highly recommend the Vermihut Plus for anybody wanting to grow organic. It is designed with beginners and professionals in mind. I would bet experienced Vermicomposters would rate the Vermihut as one of the best farms on the market; if not the best, when it comes to effective and efficient Vermicomposting. Oh, I would be remiss if I did not mention triubleshooting. The instruction manual covers just about every problem a worm farmer may encounter. Fir example, world crawling down and out of the bin onto the worm saver tray. I initially encountered this problem so I went to the manual and discovered my bedding was too wet because the other reason was failing to put paper or cardboard in the bottom of the bin before adding bedding, which I did, leaving bedding too wet as my problem. If the bedding gets too wet the worms can break up the paper or cardboard in the bottom as they are trying to escape the bad living conditions. Therefore, I mixed in some dry newspaper shredding and it solved the problem. Finally, this review would not be complete without mentioning the outstanding Customer Service the company provides. Good Customer Service is a lost art but not at Vermitek. Their Customer Service sets the Gold Standard. When I first started Vermicomposting, I had a lot of questions. The folks at Vermitek not only answered all of my questions, they followed up to check on my progress. Let’s see other retailers do that. VermiTek, my forever go to for all my composting needs.

I have been wanting to start worm composting for a while now. This was a birthday present to myself. It is well constructed and easy to get started. Looking forward to "worm farming"!

The Vermitek worm composter is a high quality product. Plenty of room to expand and sturdy, I found the instructions confusing as I received pieces that were not described in the instructions. Also the picture of the white opaque piece that fits into the composter lid was pictured upside down. Once I put the cover on my bin I got some mold growing. No harm done but mold should not happen. The setup instructions said to put a piece of cardboard in the bottom of tray #1. But no liquid can get to the liquid collection bin as cardboard absorbs it. The cardboard sheet also limited air flow. After watching a YouTube video I learned that the two thin white sheets of porous material are to use in place of cardboard to cover the bottom of tray #1. The other sheet goes under the first bin on top of the liquid collection bin. This allows the liquid produced to drain into bin with spigot while preventing worms from moving down or escaping as well as increasing air flow throughout the unit. Today I will switch out the cardboard. The other issue was the coconut coir brick took 2 days to break down. I used the claw scraper (provided) to pull off the wet outer layers so water could get to the dry coir. I used the coir that I got loose to set up first bin and let the rest of coir to soak overnight. I continued the soaking and scraping throughout the next day until the brick was completely loosened. I will add the rest of the coir as I redo the first bin today. I do recommend this product. I also recommend the Vermitek company update and clarify the instruction manual.

Worms all alive and devouring my kitchen scraps. Place in fully shaded area, it gets heated up in the sun.

The pack I received was faulty and did not have any user manual or direction guide on how to use it.

Its much smaller than I expected. The worms are not doing much, they eat nothing, after 3 months still not got any compost out of it. Overrated and Overpriced, I am now buying 50litre bags for £3 from garden shop.
