Brake Caliper Kit Silver

I painted my calipers, which are only 18 months old. There wasn’t much prep work necessary. Application was nice and smooth with almost full coverage in one coat. I applied two coats though. It’s also self-leveling. This may be older stock, because it required constant mixing, and took nearly 2 weeks to fully cure (it was very humid though). I’ve used this brand for calipers many times in red and black, and they cured way faster. Not really a big issue though, because you can install your wheels in less than 30 minutes if you’re careful. Silver is metallic, but not very glossy. It sheds brake dust and dirt nicely. It makes calipers look new. I bought two kits in case I needed to touch up in the future, but two coats from one can only required about one third of the can. If you buy proper brushes, as in art brushes from your local department store, and have a steady hand, you will not need to do crazy amounts of masking. Overall, I would recommend this over the spray, because it’s less work with the same result. If you’re considering the more expensive two-part products, don’t waste your time. I’ve used them and they aren’t any better. Plus, they cannot be stored after the color and hardener are mixed. Hope that helps.

I bought this product because I live in MN and during winter, our roads are full of salt. My calipers were very rusty, which made my car look old. I took the wheel off, cleaned the calipers with the cleaner that comes with the kit, (i would put a carton or newspaper underneath), and then painted my calipers. The paint goes on very nicely and dries pretty fast. Put a second hand within 30 minutes of the first one and you are done. We will see how it holds during the winter, but so far my calipers look brand new. (which make my car look GREAT!!)

This is the second tome I have use Dupli-color brake caliber paint and as long as you follow the directions it works and looks great. It is very important to get all the brake dust and dirt off the calibers or drums before painting the caliber or brake drum. It is easy to use but it usually will not not cover with just one coat. There is plenty of paint in the can to cover calibers numerous times. It is a good idea to keep the remainder around , I have found that when having your tires rotated that some places do not use care when reinstalling your tires and sometime chip the paint. As long as you have the paint around it is easy to touch up the calibers. Make sure you pick a paint color that goes gook with your car, Red goes good with dark Blue and Black , but I had to use silver with my metallic blue on my Buick.

Paint was very thick and went on thick no matter how light i tried to apply it. I stirred the oaint very very well but it went on thick and tacky. Its been two weeks and its still a little tacky and not cured or fully hardened. It looks and feels like a rubber coating on my caliper now and the colir is supposed to be silver but its really a funny kind of grey. I now have a brand new caliper i bought that is useless. I will have to soend time to try removing the paint. Next tine i will go with a caliper clear coat spray can. Maybe i got a bad batch i dont know.

not quite as good as the G2 2 part caliper paint but for the price and ease of use its not bad. Like many reviewers I suggest getting a better brush for application. time will tell on durability but I can tell you it doesnt feel nearly as hard as the G2 I had used on other vehicles.

This worked really really well. I'm very surprised that it worked as well as the G2 caliper paint. It was simple to apply. Color looked great. I have driven over 500 miles since applying and it still looks fine. Take your time with the cleaning before hand and apply the paint in light coats. yes, it's a bit "runny". don't use thick coats. it's not freakin' rocket science!

First one that came the lid had come loose and the pait had spilled all over inside the box. After Amazon sent a replacement and trying it out I would say that the small brush they include is very cheap. The bristles fall out in the middle of painting. The dried finish is not quite as metallic shiny silver looking as the spray version of this product. I actually switched to using the caliper spray paint. Easier and better end result.

Color pops and applies smoothly. Proper prep, apply even coats, and allow to dry overnight. Still have some paint leftover for touch-up if needed. This is the kit not the shake rattle cans.

Used this to make my dirty calipers look new.
