Can it places in dry fruits box

I don’t know. I feel they are not meant for using in edibles. We don’t use them in any food stuff. The dry fruit vendor can guide you rightly.

How will we know when it's time to change the packet of gels?

Am using them for my footwear to save them from catching fungus. So far so good. Shall change when any fungus spots appear.

How long does it last?

No such time. But I often change them once in 6-9 months or when I feel they’ve absorbed some moisture.
