Sporty, cute tv that's great for emergencies or just viewing tv in bed.
This is the best little, portable tv that I ever owned, very clear reception and very easy to operate. It took me less than 10 minutes to start programming my favorite tv channels into the tv. Loud sound , although a little fuzzy, might sound better with little speakers attached to the headphone jack. I will definitely order one more just as a spare. Be careful handling the thin antenna though, very fragile, but a small inconvenience. Well, worth the price. I also, loved the screen size, big enough for me. Great for people who have to have there tv no matter where they're at. Also, pretty sturdy casing, which I was shocked because other people who wrote reviews complained about the tv being flimsy, maybe they meant the red mini tv, I brought the silver one. Highly recommend this product. Have a wonderful day.

Great TV
This little tv is just what I was looking for. I love the fact that I can use batteries. In fact, this is the only tv I found out there that did not have an internal rechargable battery, which make no sense when you are using it for emergency purposes. When the lights go out you have no electricity and you must plug in those internal rechargable tvs in to an electrical outlet. We all know that when the product is not in use, there is no battery backup available, we must have an electrical source to recharge it. This tv gets all the major channels, abc, cbs, fox, nbc plus 24 other cable channels. I can't believe it! I was so happy to see the picture/sound quailty and I love the way they hide the antena and the little stand in the back. The picture display on the amazon website does not do it justice because you don't know that there's a stand on the back and you are left wondering how it would stand or do I have to purchase a stand. You don't have to buy an extra antena unless you really want to the one attached to the tv works just fine. Also, the battery life is good. I played it for hours and I still have battery life. However, I have since purchased the ac home/car adapter. I read a lot of the reviews before I purchased this tv and I wasn't sure if I made a good choice with some of those ratings and reviews. I just know that I'm happy with mine and I do not intend to return it. I guess it's location, location, location on how well your area gets reception. If you are looking for an emergency tv, this is the one to buy.

Small Chinese TV sold under several names
TV arrived today. I'll update later as I use it more and more. I've got 2.5 hours on the first set of NiMH batteries and still playing. I'm watching it as I'm writing this review. Menu is fairly intuitive, as I haven't needed the instruction booklet thus far. First impression is good, and I'll agree with the other reviewers that the on board antenna is pretty useless, it appears more as an afterthought rather than a well thought out design. I'm using a small homemade antenna in my study that is picking up all my local channels. I would imagine any of the new small digital antenna would work well. I do like that they did include the ability to hook up an external antenna. I did buy the adapter offered on Amazon, and it works perfectly, (thank you Amazon!). My intended use is for emergency use when the power is out, which is not unusual in our location. I have a stock of NiMH AA batteries with several solar options to charge them. I've read that it eats batteries, but I'm pretty realistic. Like I said, I have a fairly big supply of rechargeable NiMH batteries, so not a big deal to switch out the batteries. Picture is fair, but for such a small screen I kind of expected very high resolution. Volume is poor, and unless I'm wearing headphones or ear buds it would be very hard to hear; it wouldn't be useful in an environment with any background noise. Ok, going on 3 hours on this set of batteries, as I find myself distracted between writing this review and the news playing on the TV. On the plus side it's way watchable. Like I just said, I'm finding myself being sucked in to what's playing on the screen. One of the main reasons I purchased this TV was interchangeable batteries. I hate built in batteries! My smartphone has interchangeable batteries, and I have several. My flashlights have exchangeable batteries. My laptop has exchangeable batteries. I was looking for a portable TV in which I could swap out the batteries. The beauty of a small portable TV like this is the ability to change the batteries. This is the only battery powered TV I could find with the ability to change the batteries. Every other battery powered TV had built in batteries. When will manufactures get it, we don't like built in batteries! Current technology, batteries are the weak spot. OK to sum this up: Pros: 1. Exchangeable batteries!!!! 2. Fairly small form factor. 3. It's watchable. 4. Price $48, I mean come on... it's hard to complain for that price! 5. Fairly intuitive, menu is good controls work well, ability to adjust picture, sound, time... very nice. 6. External ports for headphones, external power, external antenna! 7. Did I say exchangeable batteries? Can't say enough about how important this is, and this is the only one I've found that gives the user to option to do this!!! Cons: 1. I guess my number one complaint is the on board antenna, it's pretty much useless, and if used is very fragile/frail. It seems like an afterthought rather than a useful integrated part of the TV. 2. Volume, I'd like the option of being able to turn it up even I'm using headphone, ear buds. Unless it's on full volume it's kind quiet. I mean my MP3 player which uses 1 AAA battery blows this thing out of the water volume wise, and there's no option for adjusting tone. The volume on my smart phone is much higher. 3. Picture resolution is fair. Like I said with such a small screen and being digital I was expecting pretty high resolution. Compared to my smart phone the picture is lacking. Is it watchable? Ya, but it's ugh... fair. 4. The batteries are a tight fit. I really wished they'd used the small coil springs on the negative end of the batteries rather than the leaf springs they used. I found myself struggling to install and remove the batteries. I could see these breaking after awhile, and it makes it difficult to change batteries. Conclusion: Would I buy it again? Of course it seems like a great little TV for a really fair price. The "Cons" are really minimal, (except for the antenna & the volume). The batteries just died after 3 hours, that was better than I was expecting. Although I bought this for emergencies, I can already see myself watching it in bed when I don't want to wake up my wife on those nights I can't sleep. I used to have a small analog TV years ago, black & white; this is way better and way smaller. At this point I do recommend this TV. I will continue to use and update with my experience.

Avoid this item.
Took a chance, and ignored several prior reviews. Big mistake. Wanted this item to use in case of power failure. First, no channels will come in in our area (MA, USA) using just the built-in antenna that comes with the set. So, bought an additional antenna (the August DTA206 Digital TV Extendable Antenna) to use as a back-up/supplement. The problem is that the RCA DHT235A, while it has an additional antenna input, only will accept RCA connectors, which appear to be unavailable. So, had to order a PAL connector from Hong Kong. While cheap, it takes from 3-4 weeks to arrive, and it has not come yet. We will see how things go when it does. One other thing: the screen is hypersensitive to scratches, which it seems to have developed despite gentle handling. All in all, a lot of work for an item I expect to use only a couple times a year. A friend suggests that these small TVs became unviable when channels all converted to digital a few years ago. I think that perhaps he is right. Suggest you avoid the hassle by avoiding the product altogether.

Very Cool Little TV
I purchased this television as an emergency backup after learning my lessons from Hurricane Sandy. What a terrific little television this is. Clear, loud, and amazingly easy to operate (and I'm no techie). It DOES take a little fiddling to get your favorite stations tuned in, but it's not hard to get done. Don't expect to take this out of the box, turn it on, and get a channel. You have to program your stations in (easy). The clarity of the picture without cable is terrific. I'm in a high rise and I get the local NYC stations just fine. This should be a part of everyone's emergency kit. Note: this works with batteries and doesn't come with a plug - which I purchased separately along with the car jack. Worth every penny and more.

Frustrating -
I bought this to use as a remote TV when I was setting up my Dish Network Satellite dish - the set itself, works well, it is a nice little TV - the main problem is that there is no coaxial connection - and there is no AC power supply with it - I purchased an AC adapter and an RF antenna adapter from Get My Electronics specifically for this TV ($39) - I also had a unique problem - the modulator in my satellite receiver doesn't work - so I had to buy an RCA Compact RF Modulator (CRF907R) from Amazon (less than $10) - After all that, I bought a SF-95 Analog Satellite Finder from Amazon for $9.09, so I've never used this TV to set up my dish - the Analog Satellite Finder is self-powered, more sensitive and has a faster response than the receiver - Forgetting my unique situation, this is a nice little TV that works well - but an AC adapter and an RF antenna adapter should be included -

disappointing
I wasn't expecting perfection for this product by any means, but I was disappointed. First, mine either was a return or was packaged poorly - there were slight smudges on the screen even after the protective film cover was removed and the box wasn't sealed shut. The buttons on the unit feel a little loose/cheap. But most importantly, when I ran the scan of stations (twice) it missed most of the VHF stations, and I'm in the city, not the boonies. An external antenna would probably help but as others have noted in the comments they aren't easily found. Too bad because the picture did look sharp and I really like the ability to use AA batteries.

Buy it!!!
This is a great little TV. I got an external antenna for it, and it helped me get a lot more channels--in fact more than I was getting on my little more regular sized analog TV with a converter box that I had in the bedroom. This takes 4 AA batteries, and on Ebay I bought a power cord for it that is 8 feet long for when there is no emergency & no need to use batteries. The reception is great. I bought the refurbished TV, so I got a great buy on a color TV with sharp picture details. This is such a bargain.
