There's solid reasoning behind the fact that police, fire and military forces as well as photographers, hunters and other people frequenting the great outdoors choose this brand over all others and it's simply this: Pelican just works.

This case is an excellent value and works beautifully for a small handgun if you also need to carry magazines and extra ammo. I use it for my Glock 43 with two mags and a box of 25 self-defense rounds. It took a little doing, but I can get it all in there without a problem. If my gun were much bigger I'd have to take something out. The pluck and pull foam was easy to do and gives a nice fit. Things won't move around at all. Being waterproof and having spots for two locks means I don't worry about this in my checked baggage as I fly. The latches have a sort of double-hinge mechanism that seems very high quality and the hinge on the back is solid. All around this thing just seems remarkably tough.I use the Master Lock 140T like others recommended and it seems purpose-built. Buy the two-pack and they'll come keyed identically.If you're transporting or storing a sub-compact with some extras or a full-size by itself (I dunno, maybe a mag would fit?) this is the perfect case, hands down.

This product is highly recommended; however, be sure that the dimensions will work with the item you wish to store. For those interested, this is a perfect case for transporting a subcompact, Glorified G with foam.Other G’s would require a larger pelican case.

Do not use a master lock or anything like that. All the reviews saying to use them are not understanding how easy they are to defeat and how much of a target they are.Abus plus 80/40 (8040c) lock uses a disc detainer style and are robust but do not cost $$$. Anything more overkill is just a hammer away from getting into the plastic container and a mark for thieves that this is worth breaking into.I used contact adhisive to glue the back to the cut out and also added 1 layer under the mags and pistol to raise it up so its secure.

Pelican costs more but they are worth it.

EXCELLENT CASE. I want to say this is well worth the money. I almost bough a cheap case..so glad I didn't. I bought this to put a Smith and Wesson 9mm M&P Shield and 2 clips. It is perfect size. Very sturdy case and I bought the recommended locks for it and they fit like a glove. I like the fact that you can carefully take out the squares of foam to make a perfect fit and save them, because you can place them back in. I actually laid them down sideways to make the depth 1/2 of what it was as the S&W is slim. This case has an o-ring around the top to make it waterproof. The closures are real nice, they snap closed. You will not be disappointed on this purchase. I am so glad somebody in a review for a cheap case mentioned Pelican. I was reading all the bad reviews on the cheap cases, then searched Pelican and what a world of difference. I am now a Pelican Fan!

This case has been just awesome for me. I carry concealed so I take my weapon with me when flying. This has removable foam inserts you can pluck the blocks out to hold what you want. Honestly I took out the top layer of the inserts and just threw my Glock 19 pistol in there with two spare magainzes and it fit just fine or a gun and a small box of ammunition. It might be able to hold a bigger weapon even that way. If you want to spend the time to pluck out the foam it holds things really well. Depending on wear I go I may put a different pistol in there so I didn't customize it. No problems and no complaints, meets TSA guidelines for firearms once you put a lock on it. The case is very sturdy, easy to lock up, fit in my luggage just fine, and its a PELICAN!
