Buy something else
I bought two of these at $150.00 each! Had a lot of problems getting it connected, updating it, freezing etc. at first. The company could not handle the high traffic when everyone tried to get their meeps working at the same time. We were VERY patient and UNDERSTANDING during this time and figured that they would be able to fix the issues and eventually we would be able to use these. I can't tell you if the problems were ever fixed because my daughter dropped hers from about 2 ft off the floor and the screen cracked on the inside. THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT! I understand screens are not covered under the warranty, but dropping from two feet should have never caused the screen to break considering this is a kids tablet advertised as "rugged." Anyway, we cannot use her MEEP! anymore due to the cracked screen. My sons MEEP! still works as far as I know, but it is very difficult to keep it connected to wi-fi. He has to be right next to the router with it to use any functions that require internet and even then the connection is not real good. He has pretty much lost interest in it and doesn't even charge it up now. $300.00 is a lot to pay for something that cannot be used. These kids would have more fun with a block of wood!

Nothing but one issue after another
I cannot stress this enough...save your money...invest in some other tablet. I had bought two for our kids, ages 10 and 8 for Christmas gifts. Took almost two weeks to get them working. Then it was the chargers not working, first one, then the other. It was constantly needing to be charged...a full charge only last an hour and a half to two hours if you're lucky. Having an iPad, and being used to the ease of operation, dealing with these (android) was frustrating. The parent portal gave me fits, sometimes being down for days. The google money wouldn't work, even with gift cards. Finally one crashed completely. I was advised to send it back for replacement, but all game advances on it would be lost. Knowing I would just be adding to our frustration...I bought two refurbished iPads. Took advantage of the Bill Me Later credit and we are all much happier. I should have done that at the beginning and it would have paid for one of the iPads. Lesson learned. The big upside to the Meeps was the parental controls. But I've found how to restrict the iPads to a decent point. If the meep could have been all it could have been...it would have been great. It just falls so short of its potential. If you buy this device...well, you've been warned...good luck.

Not impressed with the Meep
My son just had his 4th birthday. My wife and I toyed around about getting him the Leapfrog or a device similiar so we started shopping at Toys R Us for a device. We ran into a lady that mentioned that the meep is suppose to be in stock at Toys R Us this friday and was raving about the product as she's visited the meep website. So I did my research and found it available at amazon. I did my reach on this product, read the reviews, watched a few videos and looked at the website. I wasn't overly impressed but wasn't disappointed after researching so I thought I'd give it a try since my son received some amazon gift cards for his birthday. We just received it yesterday and I've been playing around with it mostly. I'm an infrastructure architect as my profession so I am very plugged into new technologies and pretty hard to impress with new technologies. Here are my thoughts:Cosmetics: Yes - it kind of heavy but since I will not be the primarly user of this device, I really don't mind as long as my son is ok with it. It has a durable feel and included is that rubber bumper that you see which typically is an additional cost on other devices in that area, that's if that make them.Screen: I think the screen is nice, pretty crisp and clear. The touch screen could be nicer, it's not as precise as the iPAD and in turn may require a few taps on your icon to have it fire up. As far as watching video, it's a nice size, comfortable viewing device.User Interface (UI): As an infrastructure Architect, I deal with deploying/architecting user interfaces. After reviewing the UI, I think it's not that great and for kids, I think it should be made more kid friendly. Even after a while on paying on it, I was getting annoyed. On the home screen, it is slit up into two areas, on the left is the contact which is a ball or hub where you see your contacts i.e. father, mother friends etc, on the far right is the same similiar setup but has folder or balls that is catogorized by games, apps, photo, videos etc., I don't find this user friendly at all, it should be simply laid out on the first screen like it is on a computer/iPAD.Touch Screen: This is another area of improvement, i find myself trying to click on an icon several times before the app opens up. It could be other settings that I have expereinced yet where you can change that senstivity but I have not found that setting yet.Updates 4/2/2013: it's been about 6 months since I've purchased it and my son lost interest due to the slowness and poor operations. I did participate in the facebook fan page where they just keep having issues in the back end. Long story short, I ended up selling the unit.
