Best book to decode strange things your baby suddenly starts doing
If there's only one baby behavior/development book you ever read, let it be this. The researchers obviously know what they're talking about because whenever I read a chapter about a mental leap my baby's going through, I feel like they're observing my baby and describing her. Its helpful to have a non preachy book that decodes a lot of what the baby's going through that parents have no clue about. I've gifted this book to one mommy friend and gotten 2 more to buy it. Highly recommended!

Some great content, but poorly put together
This book is great for helping you understand the developmental leaps your baby is making as they grow. It helps you understand why fussy phases are happening and gives you insight into how your baby is changing in their view of the world. On the downside this book is hugely repetitive. Each leap includes a section on how to deal with fussy phases, but this is almost the exact same information in each chapter. It could easily have been put into its own section rather than being stated over and over. The book also has this weird obsession with putting in lots of parent testimonials, which I'm done cases, are highly disturbing. There are at least a few parents here that should be reported to social services and it can be very uncomfortable to read.Come for the psychology of child development, skip the sections on fussy phases after you've read the first one, and avoid the testimonials life the plague.

Amazing book!
I was a bit hesitant to buy this after reading some of the reviews, but I took the plunge anyway & I am SO glad that I did. This has been the most helpful book in helping me understand what is going on with my baby boy, and how I can help him grow. The book is a great size, the font is good, it’s easy to read in sections as well for each stage baby goes through. Even with a newborn, it has been easy to read, I just see when the next stage is & read it a week or so before the next one is due so I know what to expect from my baby & so far, they have been completely right. It’s just nice to know what to expect & what I can do to aid my child as much as I can, sometimes it’s just nice to understand there’s a reason behind their crying & to see things from their point of view.I totally recommend this book, it has been & will continue to be a tremendous help to me!

Very interesting but repetitive
The book explains what's happening with the baby development and is super interesting if you want to find out what's going on in their little head. As many other parents we struggled with our baby mood swings and this books answers a lot of questions (I'm sure most first parents have). It also teaches you what games to play with the baby week by week to help him/her develop further, and boy, they do change a lot in their first year. I think the book covers first 75 weeks.I would give it 5 stars but there is an issue... The book could be probably 5 times shorter if they would not repeat every sentence a million times using slightly different words. Both me and wife found this so annoying while reading it. We were joking saying this book is a baby book but also a thesaurus...

Great book
Great book, and finding the content interesting but for busy mums could be a bit more concise and not repetitive- eg. Every leap the book tells you similar things like “cuddle your baby, hold the baby and comfort during this difficult phase” each leap is a new experience but not sure we need to be told / reminded each time to be patient with the crying - we know this, we just want to understand what is going on on the development side so might find lots of bits you skim. Another good book is Your baby weekby week - by Simone cave and dr fertleman, format of this is more straight to the point but wonder weeks book explains more on the psychology and development side hence why the content is really interesting

Love the book, highly recommend!
I love love love this book! It should be given to all new parents! It’s so helpful to know when to expect baby to be fussier and knowing the stormy period is helping his development and is just another leap in his abilities means I can play and encourage different parts of his learning depending on the type of leap he is going through. It also helps to understand why baby may be crying more and be a bit more unsettled so that you aren’t getting frustrated by the crying and thinking it’s because you’re doing something wrong but instead knowing this is all part of his development. Love the book, highly recommend it to all mums and dads!
