Super easy to use with Raspberry Pi and SignalK/OpenCPN, just plug it in and set up the connection

Pros: Adjustable fix rate (on Linux: "gpsctl -c 0.1" successfully adjusts rate to 10Hz). Very small profile. Cons: This receiver takes a very long time to get a fix, typically hours, sometimes days, and will not fix or track indoors.

Plugged into my Raspberry Pi to give my Astroberry install GPS location. No driver required. Googled a few config setting and away it went. Now my portable astronomy setup knows where it is when turned on. Excellent.

Easy to set up and use. Picks up enough satellites even when not close to a windows (South facing). Does what I need at a very good price.

No instructions came with this unit so I have no idea if you need software or drivers to use it with windows or rasbery pi. I can confirm that it works with a Victron Cerbo GX to provide Geofencing. I powered down my Cerbo GX, pluged the GPS stick into the USB port on the Cerbo GX and then powered the Cerbo GX back up. I think it took around 5-10 minutes to sort it self out and go to a green light and the Cerbo GX to be able to use it to geo-fence the installation. Don't use the USB port next to the HDMI port on the Victron Cerbo GX as that is now a power only port. You can't go wrong for GPS tracking of my caravan for under £10

aware there are no windows drivers available for this anymore. U-blox who produced the chipset are out of business, there is no link to download anything and windows will not automatically find a driver. Even if you got it working, you would need custom software, it is not compatible with windows location services.

Premetto che ho testato questo dispositivo solo in ambiente Linux (distribuzioni Ubuntu 24.04 e Mint) perché non dispongo di PC Windows. Il ricevitore GPS arriva in una bustina trasparente all'interno di una busta più grande; non sono presenti manuali o altro, ma - almeno nel caso di Linux - non sono necessari perché viene riconosciuto appena inserito in una porta USB. Il dispositivo viene identificato come: ID 1546:01a7 U-Blox AG [u-blox 7] A questo punto, per utilizzarlo è necessario installare i pacchetti "gpsd" e "gpsd-tools" (ed eventualmente "gpsd-clients"). Il server che legge la posizione dal GPS ("gpsd") viene avviato automaticamente al boot, e a questo punto è possibile usare il programma "cgps" per avere una lista testuale dei satelliti disponibili, aggiornata in tempo reale, oppure "xgps" per una rappresentazione grafica. Questi pacchetti mostrano anche le coordinate GPS del ricevitore, che è poi ciò a cui serve veramente un dispositivo del genere. Sulla chiavetta è presente un led (luce fissa: dispositivo acceso; luce lampeggiante: fix acquisito). ATTENZIONE: al primo collegamento serve un po' di tempo per ottenere un fix sui satelliti, soprattutto se si è all'interno di un edificio. Meglio essere all'aperto, possibilmente avendo il cielo sgombro. Nel caso di uso interno, ho verificato empiricamente che può essere utile tenere il ricevitore separato dal pc, ad esempio usando un cavo di prolunga USB. In casa mia, situata in zona periferica, riesco ad avere un fix su 7-8 satelliti, più o meno lo stesso numero di quelli visibili dal GPS del cellulare. Tuttavia, in presenza di ostacoli la situazione potrebbe essere diversa (fino a non ricevere alcun satellite). Visto il prezzo contenuto, mi sento di raccomandarlo a coloro che desiderano sperimentare con questo genere di apparecchi.

Fonctionne parfaitement sur Redmi Pad / Poco Pad sur Android 15 avec SkyDemon, Google Maps ou SDVFR, avec l'application GPS Connector en interface passerelle. Après installation de l'app, dongle GPS reconnu automatiquement et connexion aux satellites en cold start entre 30s et 2 min selon le lieu
