Top Reason (In My Opinion) To Buy This Over a Rug Dr
When I bought this, I was highly skeptical because I have always used a Rug Dr that I rented from a local carrier. I have used them for years and was not really familiar with the Bissell Machine. I bought it after reading some reviews from other people who purchased this particular product. As with everything, there were both positive and negative reviews to go through. Build quality for both machines is good. However, after using both machines, I feel that the Big Green has a better design than the Rug Dr. One of the reviews caught my eye and really swayed me towards this product. It mentioned the ease of cleaning and maintaining the item. The biggest difference between a Rug Dr and the Bissell Big Green Machine is in the way it scrubs the carpet. Rug Dr uses a brush bar that moves from front to back rapidly to scrub the carpet where as the Bissell uses a spinning drum just like a vacuum to scrub the carpet. I have not tried to take apart a Rug Dr to clean it but with the Big Green you just push a small lever and the drum swivels out of the bottom, remove (3) screws and the brush pulls right out. Access to all of the dirt and pet hair is easily removed. Time it takes me to tear it apart and put it back together for cleaning is about 10 to 15 minutes. This is important to me because I do not care how many times you go over your carpet with a vacuum or how long you take to vacuum, there is going to be deep dirt that will come up during cleaning. With pet hair it is the same. Pet hair works its way into your carpet and with a good carpet cleaner it is going to get pulled out and stick to the inside of the machine. I literally just pulled a handful out of it that was stuck to the drum around the brush. Thankfully it is easy to remove so I can get in and clean it out. As far as performance of the two machines, I would say that they are almost equal. I do see that the Big Green has the ability to pull up more of the water than the Rug Dr leaving your carpet dryer after one pass. I have (2) 100+lb bull mastiffs. My female has a bladder control issue so I am cleaning my carpets is a monthly chore for me.. The pet stains do come up. I use the Bissell Advance Clean and Protect with a good pet spot treatment prior to cleaning. That pretty much sums up my review. I do recommend this to anyone who owns a home and is wanting their own machine to keep the carpets clean. It is a decent investment to make but if you are always having to rent one to get it done you may as well buy one. It really does save a lot of my time by having it on hand rather than being at the whim of store hours and the time it takes me to pick it up and return it. Hope this helps.

Best cleaner for home use
I spent a lot of time looking into this. I have expensive wool carpet and rugs I was told steam clean only by the carpet store. I read contradictory information on that online but everyone agreed hot water is bad for the fibers so I was not comfortable buying a steam extractor. I chose the BG 10 based on other recommendations. I used it yesterday and love it. Pros… Lighter weight than the Rug Doctor so it’s easier to work with Easy to fill clean and dirty water tanks My BG10 will be clean every time I use it, as opposed to the dirty and smelly Rug Doctors I rented It works very well at its job…. Cleaning my carpets Leaves the carpet drier than the rented RDs. It pays for itself after the first cleaning of the carpets and rugs versus using a professional We have very hard water here and I believe that many cleanings over the years have left some calcium residuals on the fibers of the carpets that I replaced. Those fibers felt stiff and almost crusty after 15 cleanings. . It wasn’t dirt so I believe it was the calcium in the water. I use distilled water for cleaning the new carpet and did two separate rinse runs with it too. The carpet feels soft. There was zero perfume smell from the Bissell Woolite with Oxy cleaning solution after the rinses The water was still a little dirty even after the second rinse even though the carpets were only a year old, don’t get a lot of foot traffic, and looked clean. That tells me this machine works. I put a couple of fans on and the carpets were dry in about 3 hours. They smell great. If you want to protect your wool carpets and keep them clean, the BG10 will be a great purchase.

Commercial quality cleaner
Wow!! This quality rug cleaner has some serious suction and cleaning power. I am absolutely amazed at ease of use and the level of professional heated cleaning. My husband was shocked when he can home to a ‘brand new’ rug.

Highly recommended!!
LOVE this machine! After buying a Bissell Proheat 2X Revolution and using it for the first year or two I bought one for my parents and recommended one to my sister. My first machine still works great. I've replaced the rollers and belts due to wear over the past 6-7 years. We have cats and it works great for spot cleaning. The main issue is the water tanks are too small. Takes 20 trips to dump and refill to clean a normal size living room. After researching we opted for the Big Green Commercial and happy we did. It works incredibly well. Cleaning is superior to the smaller machines and the large volume water tanks are a selling point. The commercial machine has two motors so the vacuum/suction has it's own powerful motor which means the carpet is much dryer than I expected it to be where the little machine requires multiple slow passes to suck up the water to my satisfaction. Definitely kept using the Bissell 4X carpet cleaning solution with FeBreze because the house smells so clean when you're done. It's expensive but I've tried a number of chemicals including Zep's commercial extractor solution and nothing so far works like the Bissell stuff. I recommend the machine and the cleaner and would buy the same thing given the opportunity to do it over. We still need to buy the hose for cleaning the cars/truck. Well worth the investment, if you're looking go ahead and pull the trigger on the commercial model you'll be glad you did.

Great machine for keeping your carpets looking new.
High quality machine and cleans great ! If you have carpets your need this to keep them looking new. Has great suction power and pulls the dirt right out. Amazing how nasty the water is once you empty the tank. Great validation that it’s working well. Seems well built and should last for years.

What a powerhouse
Well what can I say. This thing is awesome. Bought it to replace an older Bissell proheat 2X healthy home pet that was given to me long ago and it finally gave up the ghost a few weeks ago. Did lots of research on this and the rug doctor and this was the better choice. It is constructed of heavy grade high impact plastic and has a very sturdy feel to it. It’s actually built better than I expected but seeing as this machine is commonly used as a rental or contractor unit you know it’s built to handle that kind of use. Be warned. It is a heavy machine weighing in at around the 40 pound range give or take but that actually works to its advantage as far as extraction goes. The detachable yellow 16/3 25” power cord gives you plenty of reach so there’s less hassle with having to change plug-in locations. The large high capacity 1.75 gallon solution and recovery tanks means you spend more time cleaning without having to stop and refill and get rid of the dirty water. Sound level isn’t too bad considering it has a rather large vacuum motor. It kind of sounds like an older shop vac. Even with the brush roll motor running it’s still not too bad. Now let’s talk about what matters. How it cleans. Unlike the rug doctor, this machine cleans on both the forward and backward pass instead of just on the backward motion of the rug doctor. The high pressure spray and large multi row brush roll make quick work of heavily soiled carpets and the powerful suction pretty much picks up everything it puts down so the carpets dry rather quickly. The key to peak performance is you MUST thoroughly vacuum prior to using any kind of carpet extractor. Also, make your cleaning passes with a slow steady motion so the machine can do a thorough job. Especially important so the suction can extract the dirty water more thoroughly. What I do is make one forward and backward pass with the solution trigger squeezed then one forward and backward pass over the same swath with trigger released for a good extraction. Using hot water from the tap (not boiling) with the recommended amount of carpet cleaner per the instructions aids in better cleaning. Cleanup afterwards is a breeze. The entire top of the recovery tank comes off so it’s easy to empty and rinse out when you’re finished cleaning. Good idea also to rinse out the clean water tank and let both sit open to dry. Give the brush roll a cleaning to get any carpet lint from the bristles and in the brush area. I always run a little plain water through the system to flush out any soap residue in the pump and lines and spray nozzle. All in all I consider this machine a great choice for anyone looking for a high quality extractor. With proper care and maintenance it will last many years. Highly recommended.

Y E S ! ! ! ! !
Now THIS is a CAPRPET CLEANER ! ! ! ! ! I have owned SEVERAL different carpet cleaners through the years and THIS one IS the best one so far. Yes … you have to buy the furniture cleaning attachments separately. Yes … it IS heavier than you might like it to be. Yes … This machine DOES cost more than you want to spend but … how much does it cost to have someone come into your house and do it for you? BUT … YES ! … It DOES clean a carpet (not hard floors … buy a mop). I bought the "Rug Doctor Deep Carpet Cleaner; Upright Portable Deep Cleaning Machine for Home and Office, Extracts Dirt, Removes Stains on Carpet, Upholstery; Professional Grade; Perfect Holiday Gift for Homeowners" and sent it back IMMEDIATELY because it did NOT do a good job. Sure, it was only $249.00 + tax but my 4 year old Bissell did a MUCH better job extracting the water it put into the carpet. THIS Bissell carpet cleaner (Bissell BigGreen Commercial BG10 Deep Cleaning 2 Motor Extracter Machine) does a FAR superior job than my old Bissell (and my old Bissell ranks WAY over the Rug Doctor Deep Carpet Cleaner; Upright Portable Deep Cleaning Machine for Home and Office, Extracts Dirt, Removes Stains on Carpet, Upholstery; Professional Grade; Perfect Holiday Gift for Homeowners Model. No … I do not work for Bissell. No … I do not get paid for my opinions. Yes … I do buy alot of things (I own two businesses. HVAC and Woodworking. You clean up after yourself or the next guy gets the business). Fill this Puppy (Heavy Puppy) with hot TAP water and shampoo the carpet AFTER you have thoroughly VACUUMED the carpet.
