Great compact radar detector
For the money, this may be the best radar detector. I've owned it for 6 years and it has performed flawlessly. It can detect radars out to a mile or better on flat land. Its mere presence on my dash was responsible for me getting a ticket for making a right on red where it wasn't allowed. I hadn't received a ticket for anything for the better part of 45 years. A local Craven County, NC Sheriff's deputy saw me make the turn after the car in front of me did the same thing. The deputy went after me instead of the first driver. When he handed me my ticket, he said "Nice radar detector, it didn't help today". I also had a conversation about my radar detector with an NC Highway Patrol officer. He told me it was useless. I agreed but with the caveat that it was only useless against "Instant On" radar, which he admitted and then said that he rarely used instant on. I can't speak to the efficacy of the radar detector when a Laser is employed by a cop. My detector has never alerted me that I've being targeted by laser.

Amazing product that pays off quickly
I love this product. It has saved me from SO many tickets! Tickets in my area are $200-300 so it pays for itself. I love that you can adjust the volume of the alerts so that when you have music blasting, you can hear it well, whereas when you don't have anything playing and just want a smooth, relaxing ride, you just set it to low and it's not as disruptive. Here are some CONS:It does get hot, I would say VERY hot in the summer. Hot enough to melt the velcro/glue, which sometimes made it slide off and fall off. I put a rubber band over this and my windshield mount and it doesn't slide off anymore and stays on the windshield nicely. There are some false positives, such as when you drive by Walgreens or another store with automatic doors.Doesn't work with the police departments with advanced laser guns. I would say it works with most police departments, but those that have turned up their revenue generation to the max this product may not alert you.Despite the cons, I still give this 5 stars as it has literally saved me hundreds of dollars worth of tickets. I literally don't get pulled over anymore just because of this thing. HIGHLY recommend!

Exactly What I Needed
This radar detector is everything that I had hoped it would be. The X/Y band is very sensitive, and I don't usually see police when X/Y is detected (I think it's triggered by blind spot detection and other similar things), but better safe than sorry. The Ka seems to be the most used, every time it goes off I see a police car. I have been using this for about 4 months and it's saved me at least 10 tickets (2.5 per month). I payed $30, assuming each ticket is $100, The time is takes to pay itself off is a half of a week, haha. This is a bare bones, functional radar detector, but it does have some nice features. On the side, there is volume. At 10, it will begin to sound (loudest) and a couple seconds later it will go down to ~ half volume. At 8, it will sound (~ 80% loudest) and go down to ~ a quarter of that after a few seconds. Of course, there is a mute button that can be pressed after it begins sounding, or you can turn off sound all together and just rely on the screen by setting volume to zero. This is nice for city driving or when there are other people riding with you. There is also a city mode that simply makes the detector less sensitive, I never use this, but it may be handy for some people.Overall, this has been everything I expected and more. It has been a reliable fun toy. Furthermore, several of my friends have seen it in my car and purchased for themselves, they too have been satisfied. Regardless, you still need to pay attention because many police drive without their radar on. It's even more important to pay attention and drive safely so that you or others don't get hurt.

Cobra over Whistler - This Cobra Just Plain Works
I had bought and used Whistler XTR-130 for 3 weeks and started searching for another detector and came across this Cobra. Whistler had more false alerts than anything else, was not accurate, and failed more times than not alerting me until cops were sitting right next to me merely fifty feet away at 4-way stop signs. I want DETECTION, with the assumption being that I receive alerts BEFORE I see cops with my own eyes. That's the purpose of a detector in my book. Whistler failed, and would continue giving X band alerts even when I disabled it in City mode. The Cobra ESD7570 on the other hand is a far superior detector for a mere five bucks more, except for the LED display. The display is sorry, virtually invisible during the day and better, but not very brightly, visible at night, a definite design flaw that should've been corrected during manufacture. But I work and drive mostly at night, and have become familiar with the distinct sound of Ka alerts because it's been so accurate thus far, so it's not a deal breaker. The bright red Ka alert is acceptably visible during the day, which is my main concern around here. The Cobra thus far has good accuracy of detection, hardly a false alert to speak of, and alerting me of cops BEFORE I see them: up to more than a block away! Sufficient detection for me. I like the configurability, so that I can eliminate both X and K bands if need be. Cobra also saves your settings after you turn it off, unlike the Whistler. The VG2 and Spectre detections are pluses, with the latter being another advantage over the Whistler. My Cobra, while nothing too fancy, just plain works like a detector should, BEFORE you see the cops and giving you up to a half mile of reaction time. If not for the sorry LED display, it would get five stars. If you're looking for an inexpensive radar detector that lets your own eyes do the Ka detecting and will give you plenty of X band alerts, get the Whistler. If you want an inexpensive radar detector that uses its own laser eyes to detect Ka for you in plenty of time to spare, opt for the Cobra. Money well spent IMHO.
