Sure, the clip isn’t perfect. BUT... a tweak with pliers makes this a thermometer a great value.
It’s crazy how many reviews are dumping on the “useless clip” and giving this product a negative review because of it. Sure, out of the box it might not work for your exact pot/fryer. But guys, you can easily reshape the pliable metal on this clip to your exact specifications with a set of pliers. It took me about 2 minutes to make adjustment so the thermometer sat the way I needed it to, and I’m just mildly handy. The actual thermometer seems to work just fine, and is long enough for some deep frying bubbly bliss.In summary.. buy this thing as long as you are willing to spend 2 minutes exerting minimal effort to bend/reshape the clip to work for your situation.

Works like a charm.
Have used it 3 times so far to fry up some Zucchini flowers and it worked beautifully everytime.Will recommend to family and friends.

Range and reasonable accuracy
Good for use as advertised. The scales are a bit difficult to read also it reads about 5degree C too high. not a big drawback but nevertheless not 5 stars.

The Clamp Doesn't Work Well
When the thermometer touches the inside of the container of cooking oil, the accuracy of the temperature of the oil is compromised. The clamp did not hold the thermometer away from the side of the dutch oven pot that I use to fry doughnuts. So I was able to modify it by inserting 2 wooden shim pieces under the outside of the clamp to hold the thermometer away from the inside of the cooking pot. The thermometer was easy to calibrate using boiling water and it measures temperature accurately.
