PROSCAN ELITE 7-Inch Portable DVD Player, Black

I got this for my 2 year old. I didn't want to spend a lot because he's rough on EVERYTHING. I also didn't want a toddler player. They are pricey and several you can only buy their brand videos. I thought it would last a month max. Its been almost a year. It's beat up but still going strong. I am amazed. I am buying him a new one. The battery is not lasting as long and he tore off the door the first week. Its taped down and works fine. He's older and gotten his curiosity satisfied so I think hes ready to take better care. We'll keep his old for parts. I do recommend if you don't want bells and whistles.

I love how portable it is. It lasts roughly 4 hours on battery with me. I live with siblings who likes to play video games together. So often times I'm outnumbered with who gets the tv. So I can just carry this around anywhere in the house with me and not bother anyone else. I also bring it to work with me on those slow days. The screen and volume is big, clear and loud enough for 1 (or 2) person use. Obviously not for a crowd. Thus it also works with earphones. It plays music disc too. It also plays videos and pictures from SD card. And the same from USB drive. When it is ON and plugged in, it is NOT charging. When it is OFF and plugged in, it IS charging. The remote control is small. Like palm size. And the screen can turn or flip around so you can close it with the screen facing out word so you can also watch it like that too. It turns 180 degrees around. Not to be confused ok. So it's pretty handy to have around. I like it a lot its pretty much what I needed or wanted lol.

Just had a chance to play around with a few dvd's to test it out and it looks pretty good. I originally purchased the GPX PD901W 9-inch dvd player and what I received was an unworkable piece of junk right out the box -- dvd's that skipped, loud as heck motor (or whatever), and the speakers on that unit were just awful. The Sylvania brand came into purchasing consideration because a family member owns a still-working, 10(?)-year-old dvd player of said brand that's been very dependable for them, but that unit didn't have a swivel screen, so we'll see how this swivel-screened version holds up over time. But I like this Sylvania dvd player -- it looks and sounds much better than the GPX dvd player I returned and the seven inch screen is more preferable, now that I had the chance to compare the 9 inch GPX and the 7 inch Sylvania. There appears to be media slots in this dvd player, but I probably won't use them much -- I wonder if that usb on the side is capable of charging your phone -- I shall check it out. My first impressions leads me to believe that this was a solid purchase -- the older model Sylvania is still going strong after all these years and we'll just see how this one holds up. Only gripe -- WHERE ARE MY "included stereo earphones"? You had one job...lol!

I bought three of these 11 months ago for my kids to watch during a road trip from Oklahoma to Canada and below is my review: Battery Life: Plays for about 3 hours before needing a charge. Quality of picture & Sound: Great picture and sound quality. Sound was loud enough even without headphones Usabiliy: My kids ages 3-7 were able to operate the player with minimal help from me. It was great because they were able to change the dvd, stop, play, rewind, forward without my assistance. Charging: The dvd comes with a car charger and wall charger. It takes about 2 hours to fully charge a completely drained battery. Carrying bag and car headrest mount: The dvd comes with a carrying bag and a headrest mount but there are of very cheap quality and very flimsy. I bought a different headrest mount. Overall quality: I first bought these 11 months ago and since then, one of them cannot close because the latch that keeps the dvd locked inside the player broke. The second one just stopped playing; the player was not reading the dvd and keeps saying "no disc" even when there is a disc inside it. My friend has the same dvd player and she too had the same problem, so I am guessing the quality of the player is not that great. Overall: If you are looking for something inexpensive that works...then go for this one but dont expect them to last for long especially if you have kids using them . if you are looking for quality and durability...then I would suggest you invest in a more expensive player.

I'm really loving this dvd player!!!. The picture quality is crystal clear, color is very true to life, and even though I'm not in need of a new flat screen, When I purchase the next one I'm going to check sylvania for 36 inch or larger. The sound doesn't have base(bass) but it's still o.k. to listen to music and I like a lot of motivational speaking material so it's perfect for my needs. If you have older movies or cd's if you clean them off this player seems to work well on all cd's even if there are some light scratches. I'm hoping this will last for several years unlike most of the cd players that you buy nowdays-- not reliable and many of them will not play even unscratched straight from the factory cd's ?.-Oh well I'm happy I found this so all is well.Good price too.

This DVD player is excellent. I had a few problems with finding some of the features, finally succeeded (I'm a bit technology challenged); it definitely is a fine product. It is reliable and the visual quality of DVDs played on it is excellent. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to have a player for their children or themselves. High quality product.

This worked great for travel! I needed a travel DVD to be able to do workouts from DVDs in the hotels I was staying in and this worked great! Easy to operate and very portable! Held a charge for a long time also so it could be used without a cord being plugged in. Very pleased with the lightweight and durability also as I traveled with it in a laptop bog weekly! It has a very clear picture as well!

I ordered this as part of my Dad's Christmas gift so he can watch movies as he exercises on his treadmill. First item we received worked but the back of the screen by the joint had a large crack where you could see circuitry. Apparently this was a refurbished model as it didn't come in a box and with minimal packaging. No remote. Makes you wonder about the Quality Control for refurbishment departments when they let something that glaring past inspection. I sent this back and waited for its replacement. Sending it back was relatively painless per Amazon's usual return policy. The replacement didn't have any cosmetic problems, but the video out didn't work. Used multiple composite cables that we know worked as we've tested them on other devices. The composite video in on our TV which we know works with things like other DVD players and camcorders didn't display anything. We're well aware of how to change the various settings and inputs on our TV and it became very apparent something was wrong when we changed the input setting on the TV, tried to hook up the DVD player, got nothing, unplugged the DVD player, switched the cable to our camcorder and instantly got playback from the camcorder. It ain't our TV or our cables. Sending it back again but getting a refund. This shipment did come with a remote though. Aside from the double defects, the device plays relatively well. The screen rotates and the device functions as a basic DVD player. Controls are terrible and the remote sensor is placed in a location that makes it incredibly difficult to actually hit with the remote. Not a bring idea to place the IR sensor on the bottom hard to hit. Burn me twice and I'm staying away for good.
