Empava 30-Inch Gas Cooktop โ Affordable Upgrade with Mixed Results
Empava 30-Inch Gas Cooktop โ Affordable Upgrade with Mixed Results This Empava 30" gas cooktop caught my eye because it looked like a high-end stainless unit at a budget-friendly price. After two installs (mine and a rental property), hereโs what stood out. Installation is pretty straightforward if youโve worked with gas hookups beforeโcutout dimensions were accurate, and the kit includes conversion nozzles for both natural gas and propane. I did need an extra connector fitting on one install, but otherwise it was plug-and-play. The sealed burners make cleanup easier, and the cast-iron grates are solid and even dishwasher-safe. The safety shutoff feature is reassuring, and the overall appearance is sleek and modern. Performance has been mostly solid. All five burners fire up consistently once you get the hang of the ignition, and the center burner is strong enough for a wok or larger pan. It feels like a real step up from a 20-year-old cooktop in terms of flame control and efficiency. That said, quality control is hit or miss. On one unit, the grate arrived with a hairline crack, and on another, the center burner took some fiddling to stay lit. The included manual leaves a lot to be desiredโitโs poorly translated and vague, especially on propane conversion. Online videos help fill the gap, but beginners might get frustrated. Customer service is slow and email-only, so donโt expect quick resolution if you get a bad part. Bottom line: For the price, this cooktop looks premium and works well when you get a good unit. Just be ready for possible small hiccups in setup or parts, and budget extra time (or a pro installer) if youโre switching to propane. r5

Looks great and easy install
Great product. Updated my 20 year old gas cooktop to this with little to no issues. Few things you must consider: 1) make sure your cut out is just right.. mine happened to be just short on one end so I just took a jigsaw and cut less than 0.1 of an inch to drop it in place. 2) my existing gas supply was a MALE 1/2โ but what is provided in the kit is I believe a 3/8โ or it was 1/2โ which didnโt fit regardless so I needed to purchase a 1/2โ female to 5/8 โ OD to fit the 5/8โ flexible connector that I ALSO needed to purchase 3) so far getting all the burners up and running was easy, but it does take a second for you to get used to it because of its safety features. Overall give it 5 stars. Will update once I have cooked a few times.

Somewhat disappointed
The product is very well designed from an aethetics point of view. hence the purchase. Installed months after receiving due to delayed kitchen project, but in original packaging stayed very well. Looked sparkling and very impressive out of the box. Functionally not so bad either and didn't have many of the issues I now read buyers have had. Like the burner sizes and placements. That said, 3 irritating disappointments: 1. The base metal of the stove scratches very very easily and needs unbelievable care while wiping; specially the front where the knobs are. More importantly, the small circular pads that hold the grates come off easily, 2 got 'lost' since we never expected something just falling off, and the grates immediately scratched the edges of the frames. 2. One knob already started showing wiped off SS finish and shows black at a corner. Not sure knobs are metal as described 3. Ignition is a bit weird. While appreciated for its probable safety feature, the wait is too ling and needs the knob to be rotated after ignition to be keep the burner lit. Sometimes, largest burner needs a soft blow of air (by mouth) for flame to move from inner to outer circle)... which has become a joke in our family.

AWFUL EXPERIENCE...DONT BUY IT!
I thought this was a great price for this cooktop & it looked high end at a budget price, however, once it was installed, first I found one of the grates had a crack, a small one, but still, it's brand new and shouldn't be that way. The BIGGER issue is the center burner will not stay lit once you release the knob. I contacted Amazon support & they were as helpful as possible, but said I had to talk to the manufacturer directly. I asked for a phone call, as opposed to emails so any questions could be addressed at one time and taken care of quickly. Empava did eventually contact me, by email, not by phone. After a few days of back & forth emails (and asking for a phone call several times and NOT getting one)it was determined by Empava that I have a bad thermocouple, and they are willing to send me one for free...IF...I can provide pictures & proof of purchase, which every screen shot of my order, order number etc., I've sent, is not good enough to even get them to send me the broker part, that we really don't know for sure is the issue. I donโt quite understandโฆAmazon contacted them directly HOWEVER...even if I ever do get them to send me the supposed broken part, I have to hire a local technician to install it. So now, I paid to have it installed, it doesn't work properly, its damaged, AND I have to PAY to get it fixed and working??? This is a BRAND-NEW cooktop! Seriously? So, I should have just bit the bullet and gone to Best Buy or Home Depot and spent the higher amount, at least I know I'd get a cooktop that is actually working properly. Oh...and after mentioning the cracked grate several times, it was never addressed either. I HIGHLY recommend you do NOT purchase this cooktop or any other Empava appliance!

Great looking, great cooking!
I've had this stove installed for about 6 months now, and have cooked enough on it to get a good feel for it. PROS: It cooks great! Installation seemed easy enough - I had a plumber install it along with the gas line and it was simple and effortless. The middle burner puts out some great heat - water in the stock pot came to boil very fast... there will be much gumbo and jambalaya in this stove's future. And i've gotten several compliments on how it looks in the kitchen. CONS: Not enough to take a star away, but you have to hold down the knob on the clicker for a couple of seconds after it lights, otherwise the flame will go out when you go to turn to normal. A small inconvenience. Also, the round flame covers seem to slip off-center somewhat easily, causing the flame to be more concentrated to one side of the burner and one part of the pan to be much hotter. All it takes is a little bump and it's fixed - once again, a minor inconvenience that doesn't warrant removing a star. All together, I highly recommend for the price and the function!

Great looking stove, works well, cooks evenly.
The stove was simple to install, runs great on propane with the included LP conversion kit. Cooks food fast and heats pans evenly. The variety in burners is great for all my cooking needs. itโs a little annoying to clean, removing and replacing all the burners is a bit of a chore, and cloth wipes keep getting caught on what I assume is the thermocouple sticking up besides all the burners. You have to use a very clean cloth and glass cleaner for a final pass or you will always have smudges. The finish though, is not very durable. the stainless steel surfaces scratch fairly easily and will likely not look nice and new for very long. Probably worth looking into a high temp clear coat for it if you want the finish to last. All in all Iโm very happy with the overall cooking performance which is what I wanted more than anything, but I feel there is room for improvement in design and durability.

The burners are NOT fully adustable. You can't turn them down (easily)
I switched over to gas because I hate electric and got a pipe run from the propane tank to the kitchen. This looked nice and I did like the different burner sizes. The burners are either 100 percent On, or turn down to 60 percent on. Obviously this wasn't designed by someone who cooks over gas. You want to be able to turn the flame ALL THE WAY DOWN, because you can't play musical chairs on a stovetop when you're cooking more than one thing. This will eventually go in the trash, and I'll buy a 4 burner model with 4 large burners that can be turned all the way down.

Nice for the Price
Installed this on a Saturday afternoon. Some of the instructions are a bit confusing. They appear to have been translated into English by a person not entirely familiar with American English or even the Queen's English. If one is familiar with working with gas appliances, it is not an issue. If you're not, and you plan on doing this yourself, take some time to check out some of the tutorials on gas stove installation available on the internet before starting. Stove comes with fittings for both LPG and natural gas as well as a spare set of jets. The brackets included to secure the top to the counter may not work for you. They didn't for me. My counter is too thick and had to make my own brackets. Overall, it is well constructed even though it isn't as sturdy out of the box as something like a Bosch. Once it is installed, that slightly flimsy impression goes away. I didn't have to adjust the new pressure regulator (included) after installation. It was set appropriately for my setup. You will need to provide gas rated PTFE tape to seal the connections. This is YELLOW Teflon tape. Don't use white Teflon tape. Check your seals with soapy water to ensure you have no leaks. This replaced a GE Profile gas cook top. So far, I've prepared two meals using this cook top. I'm very pleased with its performance. The large burner in the center handled my wok and I was able to whip up a stir fry easily. Other users have complained about difficulty getting the stove to ignite. Remember when you first assemble, and turn on the gas, there is air in the internal lines in the stove. Open the valves on all burners until you smell gas to purge the air from the system. Vent the room and then try and start. Mine fired right up.
