This was a present for my wife to use at work, and she absolutely loves it. I got one for her a few years ago, before COVID, and that one is still going strong after near daily use, though a little stained. The new one is identical to the other one. I am so glad to see the manufacturer keeping the quality high. My wife likes loose tea that comes in the big tins and this is the go to way for her to brew tea now. Clean up is easy and the valve at the bottom doesn't leak, even after a few years. This larger version of the ingenuiTea is nearly perfect for a large 30 oz stainless tumbler, leaving a little room for milk. This is one of the few 5 star reviews I have ever left for any product. This product is perfect for serious tea drinkers.

I’ve been using these for many years. They are good quality. They fit any mug. They are durable. They clean easily by soaking in some water with Oxyclean and dish soap. They are a little pricey but I use mine every day so it’s worth it.

This is the second Adagio IngenuiTEA loose leaf tea infuser I have purchased. My first was a 32 oz that has served me well over 5 years. I decided to purchase a second one when using a tea basket at work just wasn't as convenient as I needed for a busy work day. Unlike the 32 oz, the 16 oz is the perfect size for a single cup of tea. Unlike tea bags or tea balls, the IngenuiTEA lets the tea leaves fully expand in the water, thereby allowing for a fuller flavor. The attached handle makes for an easy way to transport it from the break room to my desk, as well as helps avoid holding the plastic housing once full of hot water. Once brewed, strain the tea by placing the entire infuser on top of your cup. The plastic ring housed in the bottom of the infuser lifts up, releasing the plug, which keeps the water in the housing. The water then passes through the fine mesh filter in the bottom of the infuser into your cup. This process keeps astringent properties that can be caused by crushing water out of used tea bags. In addition, it helps keep the tea leaves intact if you prefer to re-steep your tea several times. Cleaning the IngenuiTEA is a small process, but I find it to be much easier than the act of cleaning a traditional tea ball or in-cup infuser. Usually I will dump the majority of the tea leaves in the trash can, then rinse out with water. The plastic mesh filter in the bottom of the infuser easily pops out for deeper cleaning. The lid can also be removed with a small amount of pressure if needed- although I’ve never had to remove it for cleaning. The inside can be cleaned easily with warm, soapy water. A few points to be aware of: Since this infuser works by releasing the bottom plate to raise the plunger that seals the water inside, it is important to only set the IngenuiTEA on a flat surface when brewing. Once or twice I have accidentally set it on an uneven surface that pushed the plate up just enough for my infuser to leak. Secondly, since it is used for brewing tea, it will stain eventually. I have found a few ways to help combat the discoloration, but it in no way effects how the infuser works. I have tried a wide variety of teas in this and have been happy every time. Whites, greens, blacks, mates, and rooibos all brew wonderfully. The mesh of the filter is fine enough that even the smaller particles contained in certain teas like rooibos do not pass into the cup. Bottom line, I would highly recommend this infuser for anyone who enjoys a cup of loose leaf tea. With a solid design, it will last you for many years and through hundreds of cups of tea!

Far and away the best steeper for loose tea. I discovered this in Durango CO at a knitting shop (knitting and tea go hand in hand) and have been using it since about 2009. It is fantastic….one teaspoon of my fave Campbell’s tea, 2 minutes and 30 seconds, and a wonderful cup of tea is born. Make sure you do not forget and hold it underneath as the boiling water will land directly in the palm of your hand. I use mine for about 4 years before it is time for a new one. It is perfection. Sturdy, you control your brew, and it never disappoints.

I visit a local tea shop quite often and they use these to brew teas for their customers. Since I purchase loose tea from them, I wanted to get one of these to have in my kitchen. Up until now, I've been using an tea infuser for a long time, but it is kind of a pain to clean. This Ingenuitea is so easy to clean! I'm giving it 5 stars for ease of use and cleaning and my overall product satisfaction. This infusion mug, if you will, really is an ingenious invention. It's gravity controlled, so there's no need to stopper it up or try to overcomplicate things. Just put your desired amount of loose tea in the cup, pour over the piping hot water, make sure to lower the lid, and allow it to steep for the recommended amount of time. When the steeping time is up, rest the base of the Ingenuitea on top of the mouth of your mug or cup and let gravity do the rest. The valve will be release when you place the base over the mouth of the cup (make sure it fits and if it doesn't, make sure you're holding on to it) and the hot tea will pour right out. It's a controlled stream from the center of the cup, so you shouldn't get sprayed unless you're doing it wrong. The first time I used this, I thought that I might need to pull the bottom part down so that it would secure the "valve" inside the cup...this was before I realized that it worked from gravity. I didn't look up directions, I just washed it and put it to use. Well, instead of pulling, I pushed it and release the piping hot water all over my arm. I won't make that mistake again! Don't do what I did! Let gravity do it's thing! :) Don't put this baby in the dishwasher. It's very easy to hand wash. If you ever need to, you can gently pop out the strainer at the base of the mug and hand wash that. I haven't had to do that yet, but I can see where finer tea leaves might get hung up in the sieve. Above all, enjoy this as often as possible! If you're a tea drinker, you know how great the benefits of tea are! If you're not a tea drinker, get on the wagon! It's good stuff!

I purchased this teapot to replace a Bodum that unfortunately didn't survive a 3 foot fall to the floor. I had been using my Bodum teapot for about 8 years before it finally broke so I can't help but compare it to the adagio. This adagio is the single cup size and for most cups it works great. However, I have a 'fancy' coffee mug that flares out around the rim and is just a bit to large a diameter for the adagio teapot to properly function. So, I have to hold the teapot over the mug and press my finger on the mechanism to get the tea to steep through. This isn't a huge deal, but a minor annoyance. I also have another mug I use and this teapot fits perfectly over it and everything works great, except for the fact the teapot is about 2 ounces too large and will overfill that mug if I don't remember to keep the water level to the middle of the lettering on the side. Overall it works great, the mesh/filter at the bottom is very fine and stops almost all debris from coming through. I will get the stray particle from when I steep honeybush tea or rooibos. With my bodum I can't make either of those teas as their filter is significantly larger and lets oodles of even normal black/green tea pieces through. Next on to the cleaning of this. It says it is dishwasher safe, and I did run it through on the top shelf, but it didn't really come clean. I'm sure it was disinfected, but it didn't clean out the tea stains from the plastic parts. It is also fairly difficult to clean by hand as I'm not a petite fellow. The staining on the perimeter of the teapot is reasonably easy to keep clean, but the little finger in the middle is nearly impossible to keep un-stained and mine is permanently stained. I also have concerns over the fact this is made of plastic. It is stated as BPA free, but who knows what other chemicals can leach from plastic when it is exposed to boiling or near boiling water on a regular basis. I have recently picked up a stainless steel infuser from forlife here on amazon and overall I would recommend it over this adagio teapot. As long as there isn't lead in the solder used to assemble it, I have no concerns of getting odd chemicals in my tea.

I gotta be honest with you, I bought this 'teapot' as a last resort.. I am an avid Chinese loose leaf tea drinker at work and wanted something simple and quick for my desk without requiring a kettle and burner. I've tried everything else and was disappointed at everything I've tried, so I was going to resign myself to teabags (ugh) until I came across the IngenuiTEA. With such rave reviews, I thought I would (sigh) try another gadget and worst comes to worst... I can always return it when it inevitably fails me... That was months ago, and since then I have been using this truly ingenious product daily. No complaints! Why did we ever bother with cheap glass kettle infusers which burn our fingers and shatter if we even touch it? Or those clumsy metal ball things that takes forever to scoop two teaspoons of tea into it, never clasp to the side of our mugs in the first place, then leak hot tea everywhere and we fumble with it with burned fingers and the tea comes loose into the precious drink? I even bought expensive mug/filter things that inevitably leak or mold or smell or just create a mess on my desk. I'm not very picky with tea, really. All I want is a) A handle and lid so I can safely carry the hot tea back to my desk from the break room without it getting cold too quickly b) A substantial size so I don't have to keep traveling for my tea c) Keeps my tea leaves separate so I can reuse it a couple more times d) Easy to use and no need to fiddle with hot tea balls or whatever, I'm supposed to be working not fiddling with my mug e) Easy to clean This thing solves all my problems above amazingly. The handle is large and practical for a good grip (none of those dainty small designer handles), the lid is not exactly watertight but enough for a good seal if I fill it to the top. At no point does my fingers touch the actual teapot, but even so it doesn't get too hot. The hefty 16oz is good for two cups of tea (not really enough, I may get the larger size, but it's good really). As I drink my tea from my actual tea mug, the tea leaves are safely contained within the ingenuitea teapot so all I have to do is grab the teapot and top it up with hot water, or toss it and rinse it to clean, or pop it into the dishwasher. No need to scoop out tea leaves from a gross rusting tea ball.. you know what I mean. Nope this is not 'just another kitchen gadget', destined to be shoved to the back of the cabinet. Smart, well designed and above all, simple, this product truly deserves its reputation. Oh.. I do have two 'complaints'... I wish it wasn't plastic. I know it's BPA free, but a more friendly material would be nice, maybe glass or even porcelain or something? Also, your actual drinking mug should be clear, that way you'll know how much tea is flowing into your cup from the teapot. Or else it will spill! EDIT: This thing leaks very easily! It doesn't leak of its own accord, but the moment ANYTHING even slightly TOUCHES the bottom of the cup, the liquid will pool. Even if you just recently drained it, the residual water will still flow out. Even knocking a freshly drained strainer against my thigh will result in a wet spot. I use the strainer, strain it into my mug, and put it aside thinking all the liquid is out, and not realizing it is resting upon an object, even a slightly thick object like a piece of board, and it leaks and pools all over my table. This has happened numerous times. I'm not blaming the product, it works very well, but just a word of caution that the strainer device on the bottom is very VERY sensitive. I work around this by using a saucer specifically for this strainer, and have learned not to place it down anywhere that is not the saucer.

I love this thing. It works super well, but does only make one cup at a time. I’ve used it with loose leaf tea and ground coffee. It is made of plastic, so be aware of that, but in the year or so of me owning it it hasn’t chipped, cracked, or split, and the gasket sealing the bottom hasn’t had any issues either. Kind of a pain to clean - definitely a hand wash only product. I liked it so much I bought another for a friend as a gift.

Lovely loose tea infuser and a great gift This made a really nice Christmas present for my mum and she’s been using it regularly ever since. It’s a simple but well thought out design that makes brewing loose leaf tea very easy, with no mess and no bits ending up in the cup. You just add the tea, let it brew, then place it over the mug and it pours cleanly, which feels much easier than fiddling with tea balls or bags. The tea tastes great compared with other quick infusers we’ve tried, with the leaves given enough room to expand and release flavour properly. It holds the heat reasonably well too, so you’re not drinking lukewarm tea within minutes, and I’ve not noticed any leakage when pouring as long as you follow the simple tilt-and-pour process. The build quality feels good for everyday use and it’s easy to rinse out after each brew, so it doesn’t feel like a chore to keep clean. Overall it’s been a successful gift and a handy little brewer for anyone who enjoys loose leaf tea.
