Easy Supplement for Senior Dogs
These chews have been a great addition to my senior dogโs daily routine. Theyโre easy to give, and my dog enjoys the chicken flavor, which makes them much easier to incorporate into their routine. I like that theyโre specifically formulated to support eye and vision health as my dog gets older. The 90-count container is also convenient and lasts a good amount of time. Overall, a simple and convenient supplement for senior dogs!

Worked for US!
I purposely waited for enough time to pass after using this product to judge it fairly. After giving it to our 11 year old border collie Bella for about 9 months, I can honestly say Iโm convinced it works โ at least for us! In the last year or so, Bella had developed the greenish-gray eye cloudiness often seen in older dogs. Worse, it was noticeably affecting her vision. This dog who had always been alert and keenly aware of her surroundings, was now obviously not noticing her neighborhood โfriendsโ coming toward her on her walks. She was becoming increasingly less interested in sitting in her chair that looks out the front window because I think she just could no longer see the world going by. We pointed this out to our vet on a routine check-up and he mentioned the common eye cloudiness that older dogs get, and also the possibility of cataracts, but otherwise gave her a clean bill of health. So now the ball was in our court as to what if anything we would do about it. As a sort of โHail Maryโ, I turned to Amazon to look for any product that might offer some positive results. I settled on โVision Bitesโ because of the large number of reviews, the vast majority of which were positive. But with more than a little skepticism, I ordered our first jar. After all, how much good could a dietary supplement do? As per the instructions, we started with small doses and worked our way up to one complete nugget twice a day to avoid any possible indigestion. We experienced none of that, but this dog has always had a cast iron stomach. A very few people reported that their dog wouldnโt eat them. I would encourage them to find a way disguise it in some other food to give it a chance to work. Fortunately for us, Bella never met a food she didnโt like, and she goes for these treats first on the top of her food. As previously mentioned, I had a lot of doubt about how much good could come from a dietary supplement. That is, until my wife and I recently had our routine visit with our eye doctor. She was telling us how they are seeing much fewer cases of macular degeneration than they used to. She said it is attributed to the fact that we have fresh fruits and vegetables available year round. People are eating more of them and it apparently is making a huge difference, She said anything with color has a major benefit for your vision. So in a sense, eating is seeing, and seeing is believing. So what have been the results with Bella? First of all, donโt expect any overnight miracles. I believe it was two or three weeks before I was fairly certain I could notice a slight difference. The cloudiness in her eyes was just slightly less, and she seemed to be a little more aware and confident of her surroundings, especially on our walks. This progress slowly continued to where we are today. Bella now sits in her chair again and barks or squeaks as she deems necessary, at the world going by. She gets excited when she (apparently) sees her BFF, a Golden Lab, halfway up the street. She picks up and gives the appropriate greeting to other dogs she sees on our walks from a distance of at least 500 feet. The greenish color can still be seen in her eyes in certain lighting (I think this is fairly normal for older dogs), but the cloudiness is gone. Overall, I consider this a huge improvement. I did a small internet search on these eye conditions in older dogs. There are a number of causes of the eye cloudiness; some serious, some fairly benign. I would urge everyone to check with their vet first โ particularly if there was a very sudden onset of symptoms. But if the vet shrugs it off as a condition due to normal aging, I would strongly suggest that these โVision Bitesโ be given a chance. I donโt know that Bellaโs vision is normal, in fact Iโm pretty sure it isnโt. She has for some time exhibited signs of far-sightedness (difficulty seeing things directly under her nose), but so did our last border collie. It may be peculiar to this breed, or to dogs in general. All I do know is Bellaโs quality of life is better now than when we started this regimen, and Iโll take that in a heart beat every time!

They work!
I have seen the most positive improvement in my dog because of these supplements. Not only an improvement in her vision but her energy as well.

Strong cayenne type smell- dog isnโt interested- UPDATE ON REVIEW
So I am a huge fan of Zesty Paws and use them religiously but this jar of treats just doesnโt seem right; the smell is off and my dog is uninterested. She eats every zesty paw treat usually but this one she isnโt liking. Canโt return them so im out $40 so if you can I recommend buying these at a pet store so if you have the same issue you can return them! UPDATE: 06/14/23 Zesty Paws reached out to me via email and apologized about their product and gave me the option for a full refund OR a product of my choosing from their catalog! And since I am a huge fan of zesty paw I chose a new product for my doggo they sent it over right away! This is how you handle customer service. I will always recommend zesty paws and my doggo is happy with their new treats! :)

Incredible vision results.
Honestly I had set my expectations pretty low. This supplement is amazing. My 15+ yr old Chi's eyes are so much more clear. The haziness has greatly diminished. She can obviously see better and she is avoiding things she use to bump into. I will definitely order again ( and again...)

Helps to keep eye conditions from getting worse
I started purchasing these vision bites 2.5 years ago when my vet told me that my chihuahua had degeneration in her eyes that caused cloudiness in her vision and decreased her night vision. The vet said that it would't decrease her overall daytime vision, but chihuahuas are prone to blindness in old age, so I wanted her to have a supplement. I am so glad that I invested in these for the last 2.5 years of my baby's life (she passed away April 30, 2025) and continue to buy them for my Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix (they always split the jar) who is 11 years old. While her eye degeneration was not "cured," the cloudiness in her eye resolved. Both my dogs loved these--the taste and smell is appealing for dogs. I give the Zesty Paws hip & joint supplement as well and even if I leave the jar open or put them in a bowl exposed to air, they stay soft. That was extremely important in finding a supplement for my chihuahua because she didn't have a lot of teeth, so I was able to easily smash and crumble the supplement over her soft food while my other dog eats hers whole. You get a 90 day supply for less than $40, so it's about 44 cents per supplement, which is a good value for your money. I highly recommend these, esp. on Amazon Subscription.

Made vision issues worse within 3 days
Our boy Crosby is now 12 and starting to show his age, which sadly includes some signs of vision issues. After reading reviews on Amazon and other sites I decided to give the Zesty Paws Vision Bites a try. We are also giving him Zesty Paws Cognitive Chews since he is showing signs of dementia. FYI there is only one common active ingredient and only three inactive ingredients that are not in common between them. It's been two weeks since we started giving the dosage recommended and Crosby's symptoms are getting worse, not better. He is now having trouble seeing. This was not happening prior to giving him these chews and started withing 3 days of initial administration. We realize aging and vision issues can come on fast, but it appears these supplements have only made things worse, so we are no longer giving them to our boy. Our recommendation: Don't waste your money.
