These speakers are powered by USB so if you are connecting to the PC USB port is always powered for recharging then the lights will stay ON. if you connect it to a port that does not have power when the PC is shutdown the the lights will be off. On my Minisforum Ryzen mini pc the front USB ports are always on but the rear USB ports are not always powered. I leave the speakers connected to the back USB port so the lights are off when the computer is off

Do these speakers have an output jack for connecting earbuds or headphones?

I ordered "2 pairs (4 speakers)." I actually received a nice compact box with 4 pairs of 8 speakers--that's 4 powered pairs. Like someone else said, "enough for 4 computers."
