One of the best
This is one of the best books on Chinese takeout cooking. The book is very well laid out. The graphics are very well done. I liked that most of the ingredients are found in your pantry. I would recommend giving this book a chance.

Somewhat vague on some ingredients
Some of the amounts in the recipes are vague in quantity. For example a bunch of green onions or a 1/4 of a head of cabbage can vary substantially in amount. It would be more helpful if the resulting chopped or sliced products had cup approximations. That being said there are a number of recipes that I think seem pretty good.

Black & white pictures on low quality paper. Disappointing.
The pictures are black and white and printed on low quality paper stock. This makes it very difficult to get an idea of what you are aiming for. There are also some obvious omissions of dishes that are very common in the UK, so Iโm going to have to buy another Chinese cookbook, but this time I will purchase from a book store so that I can check the contents first and avoid another dissapointment. If you are looking for a full colour recipe book that covers all your favourite Chinese takeaway meals, then this book is not! what you want.

Search Your Recipe Online - Don't bother on this one.
Someone asked me why I buy a cookbook, when I could easily search the recipe online. My reason was that the recipes in ANY cookbook should be time tested - for the correct quantity, ingredients and taste. I suspect the recipes offered in this cookbook is just a copy of what is available online AND even then, the author didn't even bother to test even the simplest recipe. For example, I tried the egg tart recipe. I ended up having the crust being too sweet and the egg mixture having a bland taste. I followed the recipe to the last detail. I had 0.5 litre of egg mixture left, after filling nine large size egg tart molds Like other previous reviewers, some quantity are stated incorrectly or improperly. In Canada, for eggs, there are extra large, large medium size. In today's technology, one expecting colour pictures. The pictures are in black and white.
