A must-have for your work-from-home video conferences
As of this writing (late May 2020), much of the nation is still under some sort of lockdown due to the pandemic. As a result, a lot of us are working from home as well as connecting with loved ones by video. I have a fatal flaw: vanity. Yes, itโs one of the Seven Deadlies. No, Iโm not proud of it. I guess we could blame it on the self-absorbed, narcissistic tendencies which already exist deep within everyoneโs psychesโwhich, under normal circumstances are easily controlled with self-discipline and humility but flourish when we are fed so regularly and efficiently by social media. (Iโm lookin at you, Insta.) Why bring vanity into the discussion about video calls? Have you SEEN what you look like when your rear-racing camera is on the desk or table below your eye level?? I DO NOT HAVE ALL THOSE CHINS. I found myself spending fifteen minutes before each call stacking books and rigging up strange set-ups with clothes pins to try to get either my iPhone or my tablet at eye level so that I would not look like Jabba the Hutt on my video calls. This became pretty tiresome, especially when my comically magnificent structures would collapse in the middle of a call, forcing everyone else on the call to see areas of my living space unfit for public display. I needed a quicker, more versatile, less Rube Goldberg-ish solution. Enter the gooseneck tablet/phone holder. After doing some comparing, reading reviews, and price-shopping, I finally decided on this particular one because it had the features I wanted: the length was good, it would hold my iPhone or my iPad, and the price was right. It took a while to ship, despite it being Prime eligibleโbut that was no fault of the seller as Amazon was, at the time, prioritizing shipments of greater need/importance due to the pandemic. This thing has changed my video conference game tremendously. I had doubts as to how effectively it would hold my iPad, but itโs plenty strong enough for that. Itโs very adjustable... but since the gooseneck is so very sturdy (you want it to be, because otherwise youโll look like youโre constantly in mid-earthquake to your viewers), it takes some muscle to bend it to where you want it to be. Despite that sturdiness, one disappointing aspect of the arm is that the mounting clip and the collar for tightening it down are plastic. I could see someone easily overtightening it and breaking it, rendering it completely useless. As long as youโre careful with it, itโll be fine, but I felt that information was worth knowing if youโre considering buying. Top tip: if you ultimately decide to purchase this product, READ THE DIRECTIONS. I know none of us want to read directions for something that seems very simple and self-explanatory, but you could save yourself potential frustration by taking a few seconds to do it. It wonโt kill you, so go on and do that. One of the things you will figure out very quickly is that you should affix your device into the spring-loaded holder BEFORE snapping it onto the ball joint at the end of the arm. Much, much easier. Overall, I can recommend the product. Good value for the money, does the job, spares me the ridiculous engineering, and enables me to take video calls without my viewers looking up my noseโcanโt ask for more than that.

Exactly What I Was Looking For! (7 month update)
I read every night on my iPad as part of my bedtime ritual. Only problem being that I was getting tired of holding the iPad up. Eventually I'd love circulation in my arm and with the case I had on it it was actually a bit heavy - especially over a 30 minute or more reading session. So I was looking for something to attach to my headboard and hold the iPad for me. The MAGIPEA Tablet Stand Holder thus far has worked perfectly. My hands are now free. It took a bit to bend the arm into the right position but I found that an "S" shape gave me the perfect position and stability. The iPad is now positioned right where I want it. I often reposition in bed a few times before falling asleep and it is very easy for me to tilt and reposition as needed. At first I thought that it was going to be too short of an arm - but I quickly found that it was actually the perfect size for my application. It was very fast & easy to attach to the headboard and the mount is very strong. I could remove it and reinstall it in a few seconds if necessary but I've chosen to just leave it in place as long - as my wife is OK with that (so far so good). Was initially looking for something that would mount from the back side of my headboard but this one clips on nicely. If you bump the gooseneck it will shake for a few seconds but not that bid of a deal for how I am using it. My iPad is a larger one so I would think this would be minimized with a smaller iPad. My only complaint is that I would have liked to have left my iPad in the protective case I had on it. Unfortunately the extra rugged case I had my iPad in was just a bit too thick for the clamp jaws - so I elected to remove the case. The clamp holds the iPad very securely so I am not worried about it slipping out at all. For the price this is a great product and I am overall very happy with the product. Update (7 months): Overall it continues to fulfill my need. If I leave my iPad on it for longer periods the weight of it brings the arm down but all I have to do is reposition it. The plastic part that clips onto my headboard recently broke - probably because I was attempting to re-adjust it while attached. I would recommend that you de-mount then readjust. Don't put stress on the plastic clip. I reached out to the seller to file a warranty claim and they sent me a new one within 3 days. So the customer service is OUTSTANDING! I wouldn't hesitate to by this item again. Thank you!

Better than a bundle of coat hangers
This is a preliminary review. After 30 days, the structural integrity of the base, stem, and holder remain completely intact. The stem is sturdy, yet malleable. I purchased the item so I could read and watch tv on my tablet. The item attaches on my bed frame and allows 20" of distance between my tablet and my vision (without glasses). In addition, I found it very useful for holding my mirror. -The Holder can contour various shapes, spring tension allows the holder to self-adjust. I alternate sides of the holder when I position my tablet, so I don't wear out the tension spring(s). I doubt I will, as the tension is very tight. The base of the holder sits on a swivel joint for 360 degree x-axis rotation, and ~50 y-axis tilt. -The stem is heavy duty, yet is potentially fragile. The material is strong and coated with a thick gloss protective enamel. However the unit is metal and use in exposed freezing temperatures will freeze the metal and a bend will potentially break the stem. I used the device in freezing temps and positioned in multiple stances without breakage. I did use slow bends to perform the moves. FYI, over the course of owning, I've developed small kinks (bends) from normal usage. I used a short 3" metal pipe (some old plumbing) wrapped in duct tape (to prevent scratching) then rolled the unit to straighten out some of the kinks. Takes some time, but I say leave the kinks in, meh. -The base is surprisingly sturdy. I had some annoying wiggle, but I realized the base was not completely flushed against my bed frame. The handle at base is plastic and is used to screw the clamp down. My unit has been clamped on my bed frame for two weeks now and has not loosened in that time. I will update in another two months.

Very Stiff, Stays In Place
Itโs very sturdy which is nice, if you position it correctly it doesnโt sag after long periods of time. Itโs very stiff but if you can get it where you want it itโs perfect. Iโve only had it for a day but thus far itโs been great. 5 stars from me!

EXTREMELY stiff device holderโฆ.
Eat your spinach and take your iron pills before attempting to adjust this tablet holder. Met my daily exercise goal trying to wrestle it into the position I wanted. And yet itโs also super wobblyโfor as rigid as the โflexibleโ arm is youโd think it would be rock steady but itโs not. The slightest brush sending it bouncing like a spring. Iโll keep it because the price was right(and Iโm too lazy to return it). Seems like itโs well made and will be very durable. Still knocking two stars off for its unnecessarily stiff arm.

Sturdy and flexible tablet mount that holds your device perfectly in place
This gooseneck holder works wonderfully for holding your phone or tablet completely hands free while you relax. The clamp is very strong and attaches securely to your desk, bed frame, or table without scratching the surface. The flexible arm is stiff enough to hold up heavier devices without drooping down over time but it is still easy enough to adjust to the perfect viewing angle. It is a fantastic and convenient tool for watching videos or reading in total comfort.

Must have for iPad
Love this to bridge the gap in my small space and add my tablet to watch while playing poker. Its. It all that easy to adjust but it gets the job done. I have used on my headboard and in this case a drawer. Nice addition to have at the house.

Works as expected for $18~
Firm grip and maintains its position. Slight droop from the weight of my tablet but thats expected and easy to adjust for. Seems like its gonna hold out. I avoid frequent big adjustments/bending to avoid premature breakdown like some of the reviews have noted. Over all for the price its good.

Incredible strength and versatility
I am incredibly impressed with the strength and rigidity of the arm. It takes a hefty amount of strength to bend, but that's comforts me to know that it's not likely to sag. The clamp is easy and effective to use. I use it to hold up my Galaxy Tab S7+ and it does it with no problems. It does wobble in place a bit when bumped, or interacted with, but it's easily to stabilise and doesn't bother me. I have plans to adapt this to hold a microphone when I perform music on stage, as well.
